Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Arab EmiratesThe open-air restaurant was too cold for my liking! I would have appreciated there being an indoor dining room or a way of covering part of the courtyard to make it warm. I ordered a massage, but the masseuse didn't turn up. Bad traffic that day, unlucky me
Staff were great, friendly and professional. The historical building (on the site of a famous old paper factory, with connections to Hernan Cortez's son) is amazing and the garden is beautiful. The conversion has been really tastefully done. My room was huge and clean and the bed was comfortable. The TV has Netflix. The shower was nice and hot. There was a friendly squirrel who came to visit me outside my window. I even got a check-out gift of a beautiful 'alebrije' hummingbird

AustraliaProbably the only thing negative would be that once the guard at the door took about 10 minutes to let us in and I don’t like to be waiting outside at nighttime in Mexico City as a solo female traveler.
One of my favourite stays in Mexico, beautiful, clean and great location in the south of the city. I love it.

United StatesIt's a small hotel in a historic building. The dining menu isn't extensive, but was good. The gym is a postage stamp (I didn't care). My one wish was that the in room desk be larger, it's very shallow.
Room was great, is really is a boutique hotel, beautiful, small. Large TV worked very well. Spacious bathroom. we were in one of the terrace rooms which are modern and accessed by a large, architectural spiral staircase, which was dramatic and I liked, but if you have trouble with stairs may not be a great choice.

MexicoThe accomodation has two types of buildings — the "traditional" one, and a newer, "modern" one, with a metallic structure. Most pictures on the announcement seem to be from the "traditional" building. The rooms in the "modern" building appear much smaller, with thin walls (expect no insonorization, contrary to the announcement). The shower has hot water, but you'll have to wait several minutes for it to appear. In winter, the place will probably be very cold. You'll need a car to reach amenities. On your check in, you'll be asked for a ~100usd refundable deposit; consider it in your expenses.
We were two people and stayed one night. The place is enjoyable, has a vibe, yet it can be appreciated mostly in common places. If you want a place to have a profound sleep and wake up with the songs of birds — this is a good option.

MexicoThe breakfast offerings are quite sparse, lacking in variety and somewhat overpriced for the selection available. Additionally, guests are required to pay for parking, which adds to the overall cost of the stay

United StatesMy only thing that I didn't like was that I didn't stay longer, nor did I explore the hotel grounds more. I wish that I would have known about them from the start....
I normally stay at a chain hotel, like the Ritz, the St. Regis or the Four Seasons but could have never imagined that staying at the Hacienda would surpass them all. The hotel was breath taking, and clean, no heavy foot traffic, heck I didn't even know that others were in the hotel until we check out... Just peaceful, and the staff were polite and attentive and took care all request before even stepping into the country via What'sApp.

United StatesThere didn’t seem to be enough keys when I arrived because they weren’t able to give me a room key until the next day. It was fine as the staff let me into my room but it would have been nice to have a key right away.
Staying at Hacienda Peña Pobre was absolutely the best experience! The room was beautiful and soooo comfortable and the staff was so lovely! I’ll definitely stay there again in the future. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
