Wonderful location and an amazing hospitality from Hugo and the staff. Great view from Hotel to the sierra, very good dinner and breakfast and perfect rooms. Was great to heat the room during the night with a wood stove. All authentic and a great experience - we would join again Hotel Paraiso del Oso and can recommend it!

Rustic accommodation, in the middle of the mountains with a lot of atmosphere. Extremely nice and helpful owner, organizes great tours. Rooms are simple but functional and are heated in the evenings with a wood stove. Food is good and tasty. Great bar with an open fireplace.

The heater wouldn't start and when they came in to fix it,, they let their German shepherd come into the room. Some people are afraid of or allergic to dogs, so this is really thoughtless.

    It was quiet.

This is nitpicking, but the only thing I didn't like was the small additional charges for the internet and pick-up and drop-off service to and from the train station. I understand the hotel needs these costs to be subsized by the guests; however I believe they should simply be addedinto the total cost when booking a room, as just about everyone will want/need access to the internet at some point and will require transport from the train station in Bahuichivo.

Excellent staff, very accomodating and fun to spend time with! The tours were fantastic, well-planned and flexible. The facilities were clean and exceptionally cozy, really comfortable place rest up after exploring the region during the day. Loved the mountain aesthetic of the location. Shout out to Raul and Jaime for making this a unique and unforgettable experience!

    Bed not comfortable for me.

A lovely old-style family-run hotel on the outskirts of the remote town of Cerocahui. Very friendly and accommodating, meals available and spacious basic room.

This is a lovely property in a very special place. But I have to say it’s really the staff that make it. Although the property and the facilities are really wonderful, they are exceptional. They are organized and they are well oiled machine from organized tours, to the meals, to a beautiful fire pit area. Everything’s always on time and always organized. Much appreciated.

Lost in the middle of nowhere. You can go hiking right off the hotel. Rooms were simple but very nice with lovely temperature inside. Everyone in the hotel was so interesting, ready to share their stories. All the staff was very sweet. We also went on a lovely tour with them. Best place we stayed in during our trip

    We liked everything!

What an amazing adventure. If you are planning a trip to Cerocahui, I'd highly recommend staying at Hotel Paraiso del Oso. Hugo, met my wife and I at the train station on our arrival. The location is unbelievable. Giant ancient stone pillars surround the hotel. Hugo also acted as our personal guide for two days. The first day we visited the small village of Cerocahui and toured the mission built in the 1600's. The next day Hugo took us over the high mountain pass (Unbelievable views) and down to the village of Urique. We had a wonderful home-cooked traditional lunch in a restaurant filled with tropical plants, walked the town, and suspension

Instead of charging 100 pesos for internet, just include it in the rate. I joined 3 other guests on a short 30 min not so interesting walk the hotel offers to a small “cave”, an overhanging rock in the side of a hill that was once used as a shelter, and they charged 180 pesos per person, which is a lot…720 pesos to take 4 people on a walk? Would recommend to ask the price of things beforehand.

Room was extremely clean and loved that they provide a refillable jar of water instead of giving plastic bottled water. Hot shower and room has a wood stove, which you can ask to have lit - very nice to warm up the room before bed. The also clean the room daily and refresh everything. Hotel has a beautiful setting with the mountains in the background. Food was ok but gets repetitive if you are there for more than one night. Be aware that the hotel is about 25 minutes from the train station, 7 minutes from Cerocahui - if you want to have different food options, they can drive you Cerocahui and charge 100 pesos for the transfer.

The location is stunning, the view of the rock formations and the walk alone the river bank reconnected one with nature. Beautiful walk which everyone should do.

No electricity at night and the rest of the day was with a generator. The internet was only available at the main lodge and only when generator was on with poor speed. The tours offered by the hotel were about 40% higher in cost than in the town of Creel.

The decor was very nice, cowboy western type. The food was good with large portions. Located in a beautiful part Of Cerocahui.

Food was ordinary. No choice with breakfast, strong disinfectant smell everywhere, from driveway all through property. Big groups of bikers making much noise early mornings. No coathangers. Not enough room to hang towels.

Friendly, helpful staff. Freshly made apple juice.

Such a hidden place on earth! I’ve seen quite a lot accommodations around the world. But this place is special. The team is doing such a lot to feel you comfortable. The connection to other travelers is great to share travel stories! For sure the room and the garden are great to spend some time during your Copper train trip. The food is so good. Highly recommend!

The way you are treated! every single person at Paraíso del Oso will go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and unforgettable! a few examples: My mom got sick and Raúl asked Jaime to go and get her some medicine. Jaime, went to the doctor himself and asked for the right medicine! Jaime is the best guide you can have! he took us on a trip to the little town of Urike and the whole trip was super entertaining and informative! Jaime is very well versed in history of the region and the region itself so if you’ve got a question or want to learn more, Jaime is your best option! Raúl made sure that our stay was the best, even when we changed the itinerary, he made sure we experienced the best to offer! And the rest of the staff, are pure sweethearts that were always making sure we had the best time! The rooms are impeccable! and trust me, that is not an easy task given the amount of dust you can get up here! the shower is warm and relaxing, and at night, because it was still chilly, we got that light d of stove/chimney that kept us warm like three little pancakes! Seriously, I am not exaggerating, if your plan is to make the most out of Barrancas, make Paraíso del Oso your base and from there they will make your trip much more richer than you could’ve expected or done it yourself! ps. and the food!!! that discada (meat dish but also with options for vegetarians and vegans!) with hand made flour tortillas!! to die for!
