How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBeautifully themed resort in the jungle on the beach, stunning rooms, incredible attention to detail.
The sargassum has completely destroyed Tulum, and there's not much you can do at Nomade to escape it with only a small pool. It's a real crisis across the Caribbean and I hope it can be solved somehow. That said, the hotel could've disclosed the fact the beach was unusable, at time of booking, and directed us to their sister resort in Holbox. Or at least been sympathetic and flexible rather than rude and dismissive. I understand business must be tough, but ripping people off at every opportunity is rarely a sustainable business model. The hotel was almost empty yet we were told at checkin, "no we don't do upgrades". Plenty of other nice hotels along the Tulum strip, if you're lucky enough to be in town when the beach is clear.
Dear Simon, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are delighted to know you appreciated the design of our spaces, the details of our rooms, and the atmosphere of our jungle–beach setting. We are truly sorry that your stay coincided with a period of intense sargassum. As you mentioned, this is a natural phenomenon that affects much of the Caribbean, and while we do our best to manage it, it is unfortunately beyond our full control. We understand how disappointing it can be to arrive with the hope of enjoying the beach and find that nature had other plans. Your comments regarding communication, flexibility, and the way our team handled your concerns are very important to us. We never want our guests to feel dismissed, and we will use your feedback as an opportunity to improve the way we accompany and support our visitors during challenging circumstances. We hope to have the chance to welcome you again, perhaps in a season when the sea is clear and calm, or at our sister property in Holbox, where the waters are often less affected. With gratitude, The Nômade Tulum Family

Verified reviewThe concept is amazing but maybe not for everyone. It’s very wild. We spent one week: few days on a tent and the rest on the Ocean View Villa. Both a bit challenging until you get used to it. The beds are huge and comfortable. The deco is conceptual and beautifully organic. The program for wellness is diverse and interesting. Great staff specially José and Dani. We had a health issue caused by the mosquitos and front desk helped to call a local private doctor who came in less than one hour in the middle of the night and she was incredibly kind and helpful. Macondo and La Popular have great menu and atmosphere. The staff in both is really attentive and dedicated. The breakfast is wonderful and plenty of fruits, cereals and protein. Like you don’t need another meal until dinner. The pool area is great. Like paradise. The front desk staff is very helpful and always ready by WhatsApp.
We didn’t know the wellness activities have to be booked in advance so we missed couple of them and it was annoying. The waiting list system should work more efficiently with WhatsApp so you’re aware of possible cancellations.

The morning seaweed cleaning machine woke us up every morning at 8 am like we were in military rather than vacation … so if you want to have a beach front room dont watch out for seaweed season. !

Verified reviewBliss at its best From the moment we arrived at Nomade Tulum, we were greeted with warm smiles and taken to our rooms ( one jungle bungalow & one beachfront) The staff, particularly concierge Ricardo, Tito, Piraña ( next time were going spearfishing! ), Sol at journeys, and the never stop beach cleaning team : one gentlemen from Acapulco & one from Honduras plus all the waiters by the beach and at both restaurants: Macondo and la Popular plus Antonio Capitan de meseros were incredibly helpful and attentive throughout our entire stay. The beachfront location was breathtaking, and we loved waking up to the sound of the ocean waves and watch pelicans fish all day. The whole stay left us feeling rejuvenated. The food was exceptional, from the superb breakfast ( try the Croque madame , a must) to the chef's special at the restaurant La popular ( Amazing cuisine with some of the best fish dishes not only in Tulum, in the Country). We particularly enjoyed the Tuna tartare by the beach)). Rooms where always impeccably done and the housekeeping team is invisible. If looking to pamper yourself in a quiet amazing stretch of the most beautiful beach in Tulum without lound music and obnoxious people ( I strongly recommend to leave the kids at home or go to a different hotel if your planning to bring them here. This is a serene environment, surrounded of wellness activities and a cool vibe.We dont need kids jumping by the pool or watching cartoons over moms mobile phone. If yours are over 16 and can relate to yoga and a pyshodelic breathing classes ( which by the way was incredible) and are well behaved then bring them to connect with nature and a cool vibe, otherwise, find an all inclusive in Cancun. Overall , our experience was outstanding, and we would highly recommend this resort to anyone seeking a relaxing and memorable getaway." Cannot wait to get back
Manuel, Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this beautiful and heartfelt review. We’re truly honored to have been a part of your journey — from the moment you arrived to the last wave goodbye. Knowing that our team, from Ricardo and Tito to Sol, Piraña, Antonio, and our dedicated housekeeping and beach crew, made such a meaningful impression fills us with joy and pride. It’s wonderful to hear that the combination of jungle serenity and beachfront bliss, paired with the flavors of Macondo and La Popular, made your stay both nourishing and unforgettable. (We’ll make sure the kitchen knows how much you loved the Croque Madame and the tuna tartare!) We also appreciate your thoughtful words about the atmosphere we aim to cultivate — a sanctuary of peace, presence, and conscious connection. Your insight into the kind of experience Nômade offers will be so helpful for future travelers seeking the same. We’ll be waiting with open arms (and spearfishing gear!) for your return. With gratitude and light, The Nômade Tribe

We had ratcoons coming into our tent through holes behind furniture and keeping us up at night
Dear Curtis, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're glad to hear you found the space beautiful and well-kept, though we're truly sorry to learn that raccoons disrupted your stay. Verified reviewNatura and beach is wonderful
Be ready to clean your room yourself even if it is premier suite but don't forget to put tips in envelopes they put everywhere. That is their only definition of service very rude and helpless reception. We had mold in our villa it was miserable experience.
Dear Anna, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we're happy to hear you enjoyed the natural beauty and beach, we're truly sorry that your experience with the service and room conditions fell short of expectations. What you described is not reflective of the standard we strive to uphold, and we take your comments seriously. We’re actively addressing these issues with our team to ensure future stays are more aligned with the care and hospitality we aim to provide. We appreciate your honesty and hope you'll give us the opportunity to offer a much better experience in the future. Kindly yours, the Nomade Tulum team.

Very rude and careless reception. The villa that we got was right on the road and it smelled of mold and had problems with the cloak; they didn’t care at all and were rude in communication.

Verified reviewThe facilities and location of the hotel are beautiful although the hygiene and cleanliness of the place was bad
The hygiene of the place was horrible. Had blood stains on my bed sheets for three days in a row never changed although I had asked housekeeping, the reception staff, and the hotel site manager to have them changed. I also provided pictures of the blood stains to the hotel manager and the sheets were still not changed for 3 days despite me going to reception repeatedly. The hotel staff reception are always high while on duty - so makes it difficult to get anything done. You have to make the same request over three times. (The staff by the beach though are excellent). We also got food poisoning from the hotel food or coffee. There was a doctor on call visiting several rooms in the hotel during our stay for the same reason (rotavirus or food poisoning)

Verified reviewThe restaurants
We booked the ‘Beach Front Suite’ for 1000 euros per night, but when we arrived, we were given a different room category, the ‘Arena’ room, which was 200 euros cheaper. When we asked the manager to resolve the issue, he told us that the room we booked was not available and that it was unfortunately out of their control. We requested a refund for the difference, but after promising to look into it, he disappeared. The next day, when we went to find him, we were told at the reception that he was absent and never responded to any of the messages we sent. We felt deceived, as we paid more for a cheaper room. This experience was a huge disappointment, and after reading the reviews on Booking, I saw that this has happened to others as well. I never expected this from the most well-known hotel in Tulum.

Verified reviewThe location
We booked the ‘Jungle Room’ for 800 euros per night, and our experience was disappointing in every way. The room was extremely small and nothing like the photos we saw on the platform. There was mold in the bathroom, the furniture was broken, and the balcony door wouldn’t close properly, which let in a lot of mosquitoes. We couldn’t sleep at all due to the pests, and to make matters worse, we found two cockroaches in the bathroom. The room wasn’t worth even half the price we paid. It was a real disappointment, and I feel like it was a complete scam. I would not recommend it to anyone.
