How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Staff was rude to my family who checked in one day prior to me. everything was in their name so that was not the issue rather seemed to be some sort of weird power trip. Food was ok at best and definitely do not reccommend Bogarts are we had a very unpleasant pre fixe menu instead of the normal menu to order from.

Verified reviewThe only two good experience I had was the check in worker was very kind and the breakfast buffet was OK.
The pool is way too crowded, instead of the security stopping the grown drunk men flying down the waterslide almost hitting children, they were worried about me taking a drink onto the beach, in which they found me and charged me for the drink because they thought I was giving it to someone else! I didn’t know anyone else in Ixtapa outside of my family. The dinner was terrible, they don’t tell you, but if you don’t stay at least 3 nights you can’t use the nice restaurants.. only the buffet which had no options at all, all of the food was empty and cold. Horrible dinner I went to sleep starving. They also make you pay for water, I explained I was travelling with a baby and needed to prepare bottles and they made me pay for those as well. There are only two working elevators so you wait about 10 minutes to get onto an elevator. The towels were so old and torn, everything felt dirty. The public washrooms were always disgusting. Honestly, I’ve travelled all over the world and stayed at 1 star to 5 star hotels. This is my absolute worst hotel experience I have ever had in my life and it was a very sad way to end my trip. I would not recommend it at all!

Cconsidering it's a beach resort that is no small task! I also felt comfortable and safe! It's our 4th time to Ixtapa and our 3rd at the Krystal. We'll be back!

Verified reviewEverything was exceptional nice and clean, staff members where very nice and polite. They greeted us with pleasure and attentive attitude. Over all our experience was very delightful and perfect. Our room was very spacious, and it had a beautiful view.
The only thing I didn't like was that our suite didn't have a couch to rest and watch TV or a desk to work on. And the huge windows where missing curtains so the bright light would come in and bother us a little bit. We stayed at room 1147.

Verified reviewGreat location if you're staying in Ixtapa exclusively. Within walking distance of restaurants, bars and shopping. Hotel security made us feel safe.
Hotel elevators were unreliable and the stairwells are dimly lit. We also had issues with the water. Rather frustrating to be in the shower and have it completely shut off or just trickle.

The hotel seems stuck in the 80s with so many things not working starting with an elevator that does not work, so we had to queue up for minutes before we could get on one of the 2 working ones. The 2 working ones have buttons falling off or not lighting up! Learners have to help people from high floors (11 in total) down stairs with suitcases. Pool area needs painting of the floors as the paint is scratched in many areas resulting in very slippery floors. Light switches not working in some rooms, toilet making a ringing noise all night, toilet not flushing properly. Just too many small things. Food was terrible when we arrived with old bread served for breakfast, salty soups and diluted juices. It got better as I think they may get their supplies at some point during the week so at least bread was fresh.

Verified reviewMy experience since the moment I checked to the moment I checked out was terrible. To start I had to pay for an extra child that was supposed to be free due to their age. Then They did not have my room available, and I booked over a month in advance. They supposedly upgraded my room to a room that only had 1 king size bed, and it was 5 of us traveling. They sent 2 additional beds up to accommodate and the beds were really hard and looked dirty. I then called down to ask for pillows, and they rudely answered that they did not provide additional pillows to rooms with extra beds. Our AC was broken so it was very hard to sleep at night in the heat. Our outlets did not work so we had to charge our phones in the bathroom, and our ceiling was leaking water. Then when it was time to check out, they were giving me trouble about some towel cards that I had to return that I never received. I explained that I was never given towel cards, and I was not even aware I needed to provide one to receive a beach towel. After about 10 to 15 mins of back and forth they finally let me go. I have been to multiple resorts in Ixtapa before and this one has been by the worst experience ever. I will never be staying there again.
