Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe hotel is excellent however, the breakfast service they have outsourced across the street lacks in service. It's not that they are rude and rather, it is a busy restaurant with its own priorities, so clients from another business are secondary, and with limited choices from the menu. Personally, when on vacation, I would rather pay for the breakfast than get mediocre service for free.
This is a very comfortable place in a perfect location, if you want to stay a bit away from the noise. Less than a block away from a glorious beach.

United StatesThe stairs were very steep. Very loud area…. We could hear people very early in the morning and partying at night and it sounded like they were right outside our room. Also, if Na balam is sister resort to Casa Jaguar, I felt as though we should have been able to use all of their facilities as well because those that stayed at Casa Jaguar could use our facilities and the breakfast offerings were different as well, which in my opinion didn’t make sense.

IrelandBreakfast options could be better, slower service for Na Balam guests compared with Jaguar guests.
Great location on Playa Norte, spacious rooms with comfortable beds, nice to have massage therapy and yoga onsite.

Great location within 2-3 minutes walk of Playa Norte which was our favourite beach out of all the ones we visited in Yucatan. Lovely swimming pool with lots of shade so perfect for the kids in the afternoons. Grounds have iguanas. Large room with a safe and AC (though the room is well shaded so not essential). Hotel is 5-10 mins walk from the main street with restaurants and facilities but we never heard any noise. Staff very helpful and arranged transfers and golf buggy hire. Breakfast was included (you have it in the hotel opposite) and was good value.

United StatesThe rooms are a little dated, and showers may need a makeover in the near future.
The hotel is very unique and the location is amazing. So close to the beautiful beach and the great shopping just a few blocks away.

CanadaThe rooms could use more light, TV didn’t work, the rooms could have a mosquito net. Mainly the fact that having a SPA treatment I was not told paying with credit card I would be charged 19% comision. Until I was about to pay. I know some buisnesses charge 3 to 5 percent but 19% is a bit steep. The SPA treatment was nice.
Next to the beach, breakfast and beach club. Lovely garden full of nature.

United StatesFacilities need some inspiration . Staff need to be less forgetful when they take orders.
Location is the best. Breakfast is good but service is forgetful and slow. Biggest issue is that na balam is owned by the same owner as jaguar but you feel Like a second rate citizen because you’re not allowed to use the pool, the sunbeds or walk through the hotel even though our room was in the jaguar side. The sunbeds for na balam are separate on a different side. Grounds good use a little More inspired maintenance and care. Our family room was next to the sewer and after it rained it smelled terribly in our little city yard and into the room. They were quick to try to fix it but the smell lingered. Room had a good kitchen and dining table which made it easy to prepare some meals at home. Housekeeping was excellent! Yoga on site was amazing.

United Statesoutdated, poor water pressure. Wish there were more options for breakfast.
Breakfast was decent, includes simple American breakfast eggs, pancakes, coffee and watermelon juice. The beach beds included were nice and in the shade. great location! Nice pool and hot tub. The spa special was incredible, 100 minutes for massage body scrub and facial! They even offered kid spa and had chocolate massage which my kids loved. Quiet oasis, would stay again!

NetherlandsThe breakfast was very slow to arrive - more than 30 mins waiting for eggs while not a lot of people were there in the restaurant. The shower leaked a bit.
The room was very clean, we had access to the beach club with beach bed, as well, as towel service and swimming pool. The staff was very attentive to our needs. WE lobed the garden and the silence in the garden the most, just beautiful.

United StatesThe most uncomfortable bed pillows; it was like sleeping on a pile a bricks. They are very large/heavy pillows and very hard. I have not slept that poorly since I can remember. My allergies hit hard with the thatched roof in our lost space.
I liked the pool, complimentary breakfast, access to the beach club directly on the beach, dedicates beach beds, pool/beach towels, working AC. Also, dedicated on-site yoga 3+ options daily and trainings.

NetherlandsThat side of the island is quite touristy. Lots of groups come by to swim, but there is no reef on this side of the island. I feel bad for them.
Great location. It's important to know that the hotel is not on the beach, but the hotel in front, which shares owners, does. This one has the rooms and the swimming pool, and the other one has the breakfast, the beach, and the beach beds you can use for free. It was beautiful to have breakfast on one of the most beaches in Mexico.
