Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe rented the Marquesa's room. We were swarmed by mosquitoes all night long despite having all three terrace doors shuttered. My wife woke up with bites all over her arms and our 5 month old baby was bitten all over her neck and face. I had a few myself. We covered up with the blankets as best we could. We also turned up the air conditioner to reduce the mosquito activity. This prevented things from being worse than they were. We survived, but it certainly wasn't expected and kept us from enjoying our stay as much as we might have otherwise.
The fact that it's a historical site and that its centrally located.

United StatesThere are a couple of issues preventing me from giving a perfect score: no air conditioning, there's a fan in the room but when temperatures outside reach 90 degrees it's not enough. Only one power outlet on each side of the bed. You can either connect the lamp or your phone. In these times it's inconvenient.
The hotel is gorgeous. It's actually a spot where tourists take photos from outside. Very nice, helpful staff. Comfortable beds, big bathroom. Location is right in the middle of the city

United StatesFor this type of hotel, certain amenities could be improved. Unlike the other hotels we stayed at in Mexico, there was not daily water provided for drinking. Our final day we received water. The lighting in the room needs to be improved, several bulbs were out or missing. The bath linens were inconsistent... some days no hand towels. Some days no bath mats. Breakfast was cold and uninteresting enough that we actually ate out our final day. This stuff isn't a big deal for me as a traveler, but clearly this was a very high-end hotel and they should be doing a better job.
This is an incredibly beautiful hotel located in a great place for exploring the city by foot. It is very private and feels very safe as they have a large staff on hand at all times.

United StatesIts dark and the beds were hard. I expected it to be an old hotel - but it was well done.
It felt like stepping into a time-warp / felt like I was in the 1800’s. Very cool. Spent one night there - that was just about enough though. It was elegant.

United StatesCoffee service and refills were sometimes slow.
Breakfast was not included, but available as a separate charge. You have to pay for any meals individually - they cannot be charged to your room. The breakfast menu offered a good selection at reasonable prices, and the portion sizes were ample. Breakfasts were enhanced by live piano music starting at 9 AM.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall it is an excellent value for money and a wonderful experience of Colonial Mexico.

United StatesNo running water in the room. Had to call receptionist to get it going. No hot water next morning. Had to leave without a shower. No TV service. Had to call receptionist twice for someone to finally show up at our door to fix it one hour later. Restaurant smelled intensely of fresh paint. Had to leave to have breakfast somewhere else.
Very spacious room and bathroom. Impeccable cleanliness. Furnishing victorian style very nice and elegant.

MexicoCommunication with the staff wasn't great. I found it uncomfortable to be asked each time we arrived to the hotel of we were there to eat. The entrance to the restaurants is the same as the entrance to the hotel and it takes about 3 people to ask you why you are there before you can go in.
The hotel is in a very good location. The room was very quiet for the location.

MexicoThe service is deplorable. I had friends staying in the hotel as well as myself and asked the staff to deliver a gift baaket and a bottle of champagne. They misplaced the champagne and brought a bottle of cheap sparkling wine. Eventually it was found and delivered....with wine glasses despite the request for champagne flutes. When I checked in to the honeymoon suite with my partner for my birthday, they overcharged us by 2000 pesos only to tell us an hour later that they mistakenly charged the room to another credit card. Then when we arrived in the room, the outside hot tub was filled with dirt and leaves. They hadn't checked the room before our arrival. I just think when you're paying close for 400 USD a night for a room it should be ready. On top of everything else they told us they were holding an event with a live band that night which would go until 3 am. No forewarning. The whole thing just sucked for the price you pay for the rooms.
It's a very beautiful building and very historic. When you're there, You feel like you're stepping back in time. In terms of the property there's not much like it in north America.

This is a beautiful colonial style hotel, nicely decorated with careful detail. Our room was very spacious, so was the bathroom. The breakfast, included with our stay, was delicious. The added bonus was a pianist who serenaded everyone while having breakfast. I recommend this place.
