Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOne of the staff members was a little inflexible when I explained, prior to ordering, that I could not eat any meat in a sandwich which was part of the breakfast. When I received a cheese and ham sandwich I explained again and he said he could do nothing about it. I asked for another sandwich without the ham and just the cheese and he said that was not possible.
Location was in Centro Mexico City, very convenient to subway, shops, restaurants, public transport. Room was very spacious with two double beds. Can get a bit noisy at night Friday's and Saturday's because nearby clubs, restaurants, night venues play loud music till early in the morning, but did not bother me, had ear plugs. Breakfast was OK, a bit of fruit, yoghurt with cereal and a few pancakes or a sandwich, and coffee or tea.

United StatesMore hooks or cloth racks are needed in the room for guests to hang towels and stuff.
The location is easy to access two metro lines and the Historical Central. Lots of restaurants and shops around. The room was big, airy, bright and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Shared bathrooms were cleaned often. It felt like home after staying for several days.

United StatesFYI, there are a lot of stairs. May be an issue, especially for those who have a lot of luggage or mobility issues. There were a lot of leaks (rainy season), including on the toilets. Sometimes, the info wasn't given clearly at check-in, like how often you can change towels or that they offer laundry service. I suggest they add a FAQs section to the checkin document and go over it with guests at check in.
Great location near the Zocalo and several metro and bus stops. The staff were friendly and helpful. The decor was fun and open layout was cool. The free pizza nights were a hit and encouraged guest interactions. There were private bathrooms available. Some of the showers had better water pressure than others.

AustraliaIn my room there were just single beds and so there were not partitions or curtains, so if you want to have a little bit of no talking time in the room you might struggle. Also the roof is leaking in a few places so you’re constantly dodging water puddles and buckets.
Staff were great and the communal breakfast each morning was a great way to meet people! Plus they put on little events here and there too. Staff were awesome and super friendly.

TurkeyAlthough everything was generally great, there were a couple of things I didn’t like. At night, there was a bird inside the air duct whose singing made it difficult for me to sleep, and I noticed the hostel didn’t take any steps to resolve this. Also, in my room, several bugs were coming out of the cabinet under the sink. While I understand that these things can happen, I believe the hostel should do everything possible to prevent them, as it’s a matter of hygiene.
The hostel’s location was great, and the place itself was beautiful, with a strong cultural theme inspired by the Day of the Dead. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially Abigail. I really liked that the hostel organized free group meals, it created a warm and social atmosphere.

United StatesAll good, but book early if you want a dorm bed.
Only problem was so busy that I kept on having to check out and back in (proof of well-deserved popularity). Very central, GREAT 24-hour reception, always friendly; nice light breakfast included, very nicely served; female dorms excellent, good beds, good light, good shared bathrooms. Walking distance to many important downtown locations, and Metro.

United StatesBreackfast was a little dismal, but fine, and the coffee was nice.
The bunk bed is in a little semi private cubby. It was only me that night, so it felt like i had an almost private room, though there were two other bunks in little cubbies also. Everyone was quiet. The room had a little balcony, which was lovely. The hostel space is nice with a lot of relax, chill out areas. Staff is great.

GermanyI had a room where there was an open second floor above. You can hear every single step and people talking very clear. On the weekend the music from the rooftop was quite loud and I could only sleep after 1 am when the rooftop was closed. The kitchen wasn't that well equipped, maybe only important for people like me who also cook when traveling.
They had a small but lovely breakfast. The staff was really amazing and open. I liked the location it was perfect to walk to almost anything. The set up of the hostel was really nice, I was surprised by the art. We also enjoyed a free dinner from the hostel where I got to meet other travelers and connected with them.
