How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There was light in the room from an upper window that stayed on late but very minor.
Nice courtyard and upper floor social area with good views. Staff were very helpful and had snacks, booze and coffee Easy walk into town and a wonderful restaurant next door.

The music of the restaurant next door can be a bit loud
Lovely welcome, we could leave our bag before the checking time and stay on the roof terrasse The owner has always the most beautiful smile They offer cup of tea or coffee

Really loved this place! Perfect facilities and very friendly helpful staff. Location is also perfect between Centro and a market with good restaurants. Everything walkable. Hope to come again one day!

Everything went well, good location just a few minute from the city center. lovely roof top terrace. There is everything you need for a few nights stay.

A bath mat would be nice outside the shower instead of a door mat.
Clean room, hot shower, friendly staff and a nice rooftop to watch sunrise every morning. The location was great with lots of restaurants around, the walking tour starts close by and there are so many art galleries. About 15m walk to the bus terminal.

The room was cute, clean, comfortable and for a great value! The bathrooms were cleaned multiple times a day and there was always water refills and free mezcal. It was a short walk to Santo Domingo, Jalatlaco, the Zocalo, etc. And the staff were so kind and incredibly helpful. I highly recommend staying here if you’re a solo traveler looking for a calm and cozy environment!

The bed was a little hard but doable
the place is really nice. there is basically everything you need and the staff make you feel welcome. plus in the hall you always have snacks. what i loved the most is their policy against waste. it is written almost everywhere not to waste. something i think is very fair to be reminded to guests.I don't know how their system works, but you could also separate the plastic from the inorganic.

This is more of a hotel with shared bathrooms than a real hostal. There are common areas, but no real socal life. Technically, there is a kitchen, but it's not super useful.
The location is great! The rooms are big and well equipped. The staff is very nice and helpful.

Nothing, it was very comfortable.
Great hostel , 10-15 mins walk from Zocalo. Big terrace and some free snacks. My room had a fan. There were plenty of showers and toilets, so there was no waiting. For those who like cooking, there is no kitchen.

Bit of an issue with people talking very loudly outside our room very early in the morning/late at night. As we never complained we are aware we didn’t give the staff a chance to fix it so it’s more an observation than something that would stop us booking again.
Walking distance from the historic centre but not in a noisy area. Jorge was very welcoming and attentive with excellent English when our Spanish failed us. There’s a lovely table of supplies to keep you going, including medicine and toiletries. They also had great information about things to do around town and were able to organise a cab to our bus station when we checked out.

Jorge was super friendly and helpful Amazing range of little snacks, tea and access to drinking water and boiling water. Nice room cleaned daily Cute clean bathroom Lovely hangout spot on the roof and could use utensils for food prep up there

The window in the room was looking inside the building so didn't have any day light coming into the room.
The place is very quiet and safe. Very good location. The owner is very friendly and very helpful.

The lady boss that works there does not have a welcoming attitude. She’s not too friendly and does not smile at all. Working is hospitality even if she does not like people she should try to act a lil bit. Also We rang the doorbell at least 5 times with no one coming to open the door for us. When they finally opened the door no apologies no smiles no welcome from the lady whatsoever (things my girl noticed) they just told us since we are early to come back at 2pm for check in.
First of all Jorge was an amazing host! Very understanding and very generous and would go above and beyond to make you happy. The place is super quiet, and peaceful, the location is great. We chose the room with AC and tv which was very comfortable. The only issue was the shower was not working properly.

Building work is going on currently, so a bit noisy. Charge to refill water. Room had an uncovered window, which let in a lot of light in the morning.
Location was great and staff very helpful allowing us to store our bags before and after our stay.

Traditional property with old world charm. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The manager, Jorge, was such a gentleman it was a pleasure to stay there. The rooms are simple, clean, and comfortable. The hotel has a lovely terrace on the roof with kitchen facilities. The location was central and within walking distance of many of the landmarks of Oaxaca.

A gem of a hostal! The ambiance here is so good. First time that I have been to a hostal where you can take complimentary snacks and drinks! Exceptional place. The hostal is really clean and very well taken care of. So much care in everything, also in the details if you pay attention. The owner is very kind and willing to help.
