Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe town is run-down and needs investment, but the hotel is an oasis with a huge garden.

United KingdomWe stayed for 3 nights. There was heavy rain for 24 hours and the electricity went off. That would be absolutely OK if it didn't affect also the toilet and the water pressure. We couldn't flush the toilet! I had to fill the bin with water to be able to flush it. When taking a shower, water goes everywhere and then sits around the toilet. Also the staff should be more professional. We were chilling in our room and a gardener was peering on us through the window. Creepy. Quite pricey for Campeche.
Spacious, clean room. The whole area was very nicely kept. Beach access.

AustriaIsla Aguada is poor in infrastructure and there are only few places for sleeping available. If you are looking for something like a shady campsite, this will be okay for you. For us, it was not comfortable enough: the room was smelly, "seaview" was looking into trees and camping cars, no drinking water in the room, beds were not made, no warm showers possible, no chance for a tea or coffee in the morning. For the offered quality it was overprized.
There was a small and narrow beach, allowing to go swimming into the lagoon. The owner was helpful to find a boat for a boattour, which was nice.

CanadaI think this hotel has seen better days. Everything seemed a bit run down - sheets with holes, lamp shades with yellowed torn plastic, sketchy toilet with water leaking out with every flush, we could only coax out a trickle of water from the sink, ancient AC. It is located on the lagoon beach (which is public - I totally support that concept in Mexico!), but there is only a small strip (10 ft?) between the water and the chain link fence, which is packed with restaurant tables and chairs, filled with families picnicking for the day. Maybe my expectations were misguided, this place was so highly recommended and we had passed miles of big white sandy beaches with palm trees and palapas on our way to Freedom Shores so I was disappointed by the reality. On a good note, we headed out to one of those nearby beaches for the afternoon and spent a lovely few hours with a whole bay to ourselves. I think if you are travelling in an RV and so not worried about the actual facilities, and are prepared to drive out to the beautiful beaches before and after the town your experience could be quite positive.
Wonderful knowing the history behind this accommodation, designed to meet the needs of people with mobility challenges (in a previous century that is). As 2 people we were in a room with 4 queen size beds - huge! Staff were all very nice. Place is dog friendly.

MexicoWe arrived on a Monday and the staff all had off and most restaurants in town were closed too. That was bad planning on our part. We had room number 1 and it needs some serious updating. It is right where everyone walks by, but the windows need to be open for air, the blinds could have supplied privacy but didn’t function probably to be turned to be partly open. The air conditioner didn’t have a remote, so we couldn’t turn it on and the fans made so much noise, we couldn’t sleep with them on. We decided the hell with privacy, we slept with the windows open. It was very quiet and you can here the sound of the water, so that part was lovely.
We stayed here because we waned to take a boat ride to see the dolphins. Velma the owner was very nice, the setting is right on the beach and picturesque.

United KingdomThe restaurant is the only place to eat nearby. The service was very erratic, which was frustrating with two hungry kids. When the food did eventually arrive it was OK. To be fair, the waiter was very apologetic - apparently, most of the staff had gone home leaving him and one cook on their own. It was 2nd Jan, so it could have been that hangovers from new year's celebrations were to blame. The only area with WiFi coverage was outside the hotel office, where there were loads of mosquitos after dark. Strange that the bathroom in the room had a curtain, rather than a door. Not great when you need a bit of privacy!
The beach was OK and we were picked up directly from there by Marbella for a boat tour around the lagoon (really good), which was handy. The place itself was well located to break our journey after a long drive from Calakmul. It's away from the centre of Isla Aguada, so we didn't really get a chance to see the town and find out why it is a Pueblo Magico.
