Looks old and worn down in some places! Also the place were the guests have breakfast can not accomodate even 1/3 of the people so there is an average wait time of 25-30min per day! Also, the staff quality varies a lot! You have the ones that are on top of everything and then you have staff at the pool that may not show up for 15 min or have to ask for someone to take an order 3-4 times and they do it with a very “heavy heart”! Almost makes you feel bad asking…

Maybe slightly bigger cubicles for the pool bathrooms, it was very tricky using them with my daughters, or a dedicated family bathroom.

There should not be an additional charge for things like booking tennis courts / some of the kids club activities. That seems excessive when the price is already very high. Many of the staff were excellent, but some seemed not to 100% know what they were doing, or were not always customer-centric in their approach. I would contrast this with Ikos (where we stayed last summer) and the staff there were noticeably highly trained and great at putting the customer first. We had to wait >1hr for food on a few occasions - this was because the hotel takes a VERY cautious approach to any allergies (my daughter is gluten intolerant). They seemed to treat this as if it were a dangerous peanut allergy. I appreciated the caution up front, but when we queried it with staff and tried to explain it wasn't a serious allergy, but more of a mild issue, they didn't seem to fully understand. Many of the waiters also did not really understand what gluten is or what foods it is found in. The map of the hotel was quite poor and we found it at times difficult to be visiting as first timers there - the site is so large, there should maybe be some additional support / guidance / tours given to people who are 'newbies' so they know how to make the most of their time there.

Great facilities (especially gym/swimming pool), very good food, fantastic beach. Overall, a pretty relaxing and fun place to stay - would recommend and would like to go back.

Pools in the laguna area were a bit outdated. Sometimes one has to wait a while for the buggy to arrive. But very minor compared to the fantastic experience.

The beach was clean. Beds were very comfortable. Free boat ride was very relaxing and fun. They managed to get halal meat for us every night (we told them in advance) so that was very helpful. They celebrated our anniversary every night! There were many cool birds in the compound! Iguanas too!

Probably my biggest complaint is that the pool menu caters too much to American guests. No spicy salsa (we’re in Mexico, this is a must), no good taco options, etc.

The property was beautiful. The adult pool… heaven. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We are seasoned wheelchair travelers and we managed quite well. However we would imagine that anyone else that uses a wheelchair would find it most difficult. You need a wheelchair that can be folded and placed in the back of a golf cart since they don’t have carts available with ramps. We had a portable power chair that folded and we then transferred into a golf cart seat. The night lighting (although typical “jungle” ambience) was actually scary when trying to use the scarcely lit paths with drop offs between the casitas and the restaurant areas. Phone lights won’t help and we were rescued by helpful staff to get us back to our room. We ended up depending on getting to/from our casita by a golf cart even though we would have loved to wheel/walk back on our own. They provided a shower seat and the room was nicely set up. We would visit again, however be prepared for inconveniences (managed with the rest fit attitude by some, but may be very difficult for others) since we had a power chair we actually loved wheeling to the beach club and had wonderful wheel/walks to the other resorts on the golf cart paths. Nice adventure for us!

Great Property, great service, we had so much fun wondering around the resort and walking to the other resorts. (Even though most people would take the golf carts)

Although the breakfast was included we were always presented with the check and the intention is to provide tips which I find it not respectful to the client. It puts you in a bad position with respect to the people serving you if you don’t give a tip. This should not happen in a 5 star hotel for which you already paid enough. The dining experience during lunch and dinner is basic and some time overpriced for what it is.

The hotel is really excellent! From arrival to departure the staff makes you feel valuable and they really work hard to accommodate any of your needs. All the services are excellent. The parking service is wonderful, the swimming pools are excellent, the breakfast is delicious. Mayakoba is s beautiful complex.

It's expensive and they add a $35/day/person to the bill at the end w/o telling ahead. Not that it spoils the great vacation.

Having stayed for two weeks, and not jeopardizing the overall good experience, we noticed some service details that could have been better, mostly related to requests that were never fulfilled. The point that really upset us was the tip/gratuity scheme. We had the all-inclusive option, but nevertheless we were always presented with a bill for each meal with three levels of suggested tips (from 15 to 20%). Although we understand the need to present a bill considering that not everyone had the all-inclusive option, to put the suggested tip doesn't make any sense, creating the expectation within employees and pressuring clients for giving such a tip. When I opted for the all-inclusive package, I was not informed that service was not included, so I assumed that employees receive a fair payment for their job. Why is this pressure for tips then, in such a relevant amount, which would have increased the holiday budget by a significant amount? This policy made my interaction with employees quite uncomfortable, as we simply couldn't afford that level of tips.

The hotel is inserted in a superb location, surrounded by nature and by water channels. The beach is excellent, with white sand, hot water and no sea weeds. The hotel is very well kept, with fabulous gardens and excellent rooms and facilities. We got an upgrade to a "casita", which made the experience even better. The staff is very kind, paying attention to every detail and always trying to find ways to be more helpful. The food options are varied and of an excellent quality.

The resort is massive and the directions signs could be more intuitive. Appreciate that bikes are available but it is hard to understand the paths through the signs. Also some of the bikes could have some maintenance. Room service dining takes a very long time.

All staff was excellent - front desk, concierge, restaurants, spa, shops, room service - helpful and friendly. Variety of restaurant options was good too. I also enjoyed some of the resort activities, such as handcrafts, river boat etc.

Lack of technical assistance with reference to the room tv not connecting to netflix and other streaming services. Food in a couple of the property restaurants was quite average. Pools being closed at 5pm was also strange and unusual.

Fantastic rooms, and great service at the pool side bistro. Accessibility to various parts of the property via the golf karts was also frequent and timely.

The restaurants. Food. Quality and service had much to be desired. The food was a little over priced and lead much to be desired from our children as well as ourselves. If the property can work on this and it’s time to serve. It would be a 4.9 Right now I would say a solid 4.5
