Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyIt would have been nice to have our room cleaned. During our stay, no one came around to clean or at least help/inform us on how to get the trash out. Considering that in most places in Mexico you’re not allowed to deposit the toilet papers in the toilet, it’s not hygienic to keep the trash inside for long.
Cute house located optimally between two fun neighborhoods and 2 minutes away from the beach Pool Yard

ChileIt’s in the middle between La Punta and the old town, so if you are looking for partying, you’ll need a vehicle, bus or taxi. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, it’s perfect.
In September 2024 I spent 3 nights as the only guest in the guest house. It was a great stay. Staff was friendly (even though I hardly saw them). Refreshing swimming pool. Great Wifi (Starlink!), perfect for working. Safe (maybe a bit rougher area, but 2 iron doors to keep burglars out). Clean and spacious room, with hot shower. Well-working A/C. Little terrace for myself. Location is right behind the Zicatela mall, great for cheap meals and shopping, and 50m away from the beach. Nearby are also a few rustic restaurants.

CanadaThe area around looks a little rough but we felt totally safe. Would’ve liked if they supplied at least salt and sugar
. Short walk to Mercado that sold everything and where you could hop on a collectivo to get almost anywhere. Quiet. Wifi was the best we’ve had so far in Mexico . Not on the beach but super close. Could walk from the beach to beach and take the Colectivo home.

United StatesThe directions to get there were a bit confusing for our taxi driver (and us). Though our room had a kitchette, we needed to buy a lighter in order to use the little gas burners. We also had to buy a sponge to wash our dishes. It wasn't really a problem, just couldn't use the burners our first night or morning.
Coccoloba is only half a block from Calle del Morro, a block or so from a beautiful, quiet stretch of Zicatela beach on a mostly undeveloped, unpaved street. We liked that it was not in the hub, but that we could easily walk to the main beach town area, as well as La Punta where the surfer community is. AND the Mercado was a five minute walk, as well. At the Mercado we could pop over for a great meal at one of the restaurants overlooking the bay from above, or shop in the various, local-owned artesan shops inside (in particular, I loved the almond paste cookies at Bread Box Bakery). Ours was the Frida room. It was my favorite room on our trip to Mexico. It was creatively designed and spacious, with multiple seating areas and a cool little bathroom set-up. The ceiling fan mostly kept us cool. The pool was great. It was cleaned every day I was there, and it was really a bonus to be able to walk out of my room and go straight into the pool in the hot afternoons or evenings. The other residents were respectful and quiet. Rosy, the on-site, go-to person, was sweet and helpful. As far as security goes, there are two metal doors into the complex that are kept locked at all times. We felt quite safe for ourselves and our belongings. We also enjoyed the garden. Very pleasant to sit in front of our room to relax and have the beautiful landscaping surrounding us.

United StatesThe hotel is located in a nice location, away from the noise of Zicatela, but close enough to walk there or La Punta. There are several restaurants, a nice mercado, abarrotes, and a laundry in walking distance. We really appreciated having an air conditioning and the pool during some very hot and humid days during our stay. We got meet the amazing owner, Beatriz and you can tell that she has invested a lot of, not jut money, but love and care into the facilities. The staff is excellent, the location is very secure and we really loved our stay. We also need to talk about the staff, specifically Rosie. Being from San Francisco, where it was a constant marine layer, we thought that we had prepared ourselves well for the temperature change. We quickly realized that it was more than we expected. After arriving in early morning, Rosie had an empty room opened up so that we could quickly shower and change until our room was ready later in the afternoon. I was just getting over the flu when leaving Oaxaca and she when we would see her, she would always check in to see how I was feeling. Also, when we first got of the ADO bus, we had a bad experience with rateros trying to price gauge us to take a taxi to the hotel which is only a seven minute ride. I’m pretty skilled with taking taxis in Mexico and so while we de fit ley still overpaid, I was able to push back to get a lower price. Knowing this, Rosie arranged for a taxi company that she trusted to take us to do the turtle release in Bacocho, who would take us, wait for us to finish, and then drive us back to the hotel. Rosie also spoke to Beatriz that that our bus to Chiapas would not be leaving until late at night, so we were able to have a much later check out in the evening so that we could stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day and she arranged a taxi back to the station.
