The upstairs lounge closed too early!

Great hotel, excellent service, extremely clean and safe. The staff here are really exceptional. Auriel - the waiter at the upstairs lounge/restaurant was special. What a great character! The hotel is two blocks from Santo Domingo. The hotel is extremely convenient and safe. I nice relaxing oasis in the middle of Oaxaca.

There is a rooftop bar, but it’s never open so not really useful.

The location is just perfect in the Centro and also quiet at night. You can walk to almost everywhere in five minutes. The rooms are super clean and very comfortable. There’s a cute restaurant Terrace in the entrance which is really good, simple and affordable. I would totally go back.

Everything was great

The hotel is in a great location. Has a very pretty court yard. Rooms are good. We only stayed one night before flying. The food at the restaurant is fantastic. We were surprised at each meal how tasty and creative meals were!

Thought the night porter would ask guests to be respectful of noise during the night when people were trying to sleep. This only happened on one night.

The coffee was the only downside but there are better choices steps away.

Staff were amazing, very clean, well located , very good value. Very well run by the young women who staff the hotel desk. They helped us arrange a driver for the drive to Puerto Escondido (Nacho) who was the best.

Honestly, I cannot think of anything. There are other elegant, sophisticated properties, but the Casa Vertiz is a wonderful, small boutique hotel, and is an excellent bargain.

The location could not have been better! We walked everywhere from there with ease. The hotel was quaint, clean, and had excellent service. The courtyard restaurant served a delicious breakfast and seems like it was popular with locals too.

We tried a coffee at the restaurant, and it was not at all to our liking. Breakfasts looked good though, and those we saw eating seemed to be enjoying what was in front of them. But, again, an upgrade in the coffee seems to be in order.

Breakfast not taken at the hotel, though lots of options within steps. The STAFF were amazingly helpful and patient with every aspect of our stay, including arranging car service to the Beach. The room was very comfortable and appointed. A very nice value at this price level.

Lack of atmosphere and buzz in the hotel and restaurant generally, and the bar terrace never seemed to be open. We spent virtually all time out using other bars and restaurants. Room could have done with a small fridge.

Great location, one road away from centre, but not too noisy. We had a queen room, and it was a little dark with only wall lights on (but too bright with all the lights on), as all rooms face a courtyard. Bathroom and shower were great. Was very good to have a coffee maker with nice ground coffee. Bottled water each day was a nice touch.

There's a strange vibe in the courtyard area and upstairs area where we weren't ever sure if they were open or closed. Most days it was so quiet that there staff sat around everywhere and it didn't feel very inviting to go down and sit there. We sat on the upstairs sofa one day and it was kind of open but no one working there. There's no where to really chill in the room either after a busy day of walking Oaxaca so this was disappointing as they are lovely spots . The TV in the room is also pointless as it's not a smart TV so you can't stream anything - I feel they should replace this as it's an easy fix. One of the staff also refused to give my wife bottles of water one day after our room wasn't cleaned so we weren't impress with that either.

The king size bed was by far the best we slept in while travelling Mexico! The bathroom was also absolutely gorgeous and the room was calm and quiet (we were on the top floor). The lady at the front desk was very helpful and helped us get laundry done - all the staff were very kind. Great location for Oaxaca - you could walk into Centro within 10 minutes. Very easy taxi from the bust station too. Wifi was good for working/checking emails.
