Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandThe room wasn't that big, but it was fine for a few days.
Clean room, quiet area, we really liked the rooftop kitchen. The host was very nice and helpful. You can communicate with his son on Whatsapp in English, which was also very helpful. Great location, short walk to the main tourist attractions in the city. We felt comfortable and safe here, we highly recommend it.

United StatesEverything was great except for there was one duck which quacked a lot, haha. But I had earplugs so that was all good.
I spent 3 nights in this beautiful guest house while working remotely. It was very pleasant. The owner Ricardo and his families are super attentive and friendly, they coordinated with me soon after I landed, allowed an early check-in, and helpped me arrange a taxi to the airport. I took the 3 days easy, just walking around the town and took some video conferences in the room. The guest house is of walking distance to town center, many amazing restaurants, and I even manage to jog 4 miles one morning and attended a yoga class nearby another day. The guest house is of great value and I highly recommend. Thank you Ricardo!

CanadaThe is a great guesthouse. It is very clean, the room is spacious, bed is comfortable, sheets and towels are clean. Air conditioning works well and in May we definitely needed it. The shower has hot water, but is very sensitive to temperature adjustments so don't turn the taps too far too soon. The location is great, close to the plaza but in a nice, safe, quiet area. Although there was a loud convert one night but it sounded far away and could probably be heard everywhere. The host is very nice and helpful. It was nice to have a coffee maker, fridge and microwave.

United KingdomLovely hosts. Big room overlooking a courtyard . Actually had a rail and shelf to put clothes on , I haven't had anywhere to hang clothes in a lot of places ! Big desk, tv and great WiFi. There is a ceiling fan but it was a heat wave and I was feeling unwell, Ricardo kindly brought me another fan which helped me so much . I deliberately picked a quiet area of the city . But everything was within 10-20 mins walk . Once I was in the room I couldn't hear any traffic , bliss ! The only noise unfortunately was an inconsiderate neighbour constantly slamming his door despite all the notices to be considerate ...... some people are oblivious to others !!!!! Ricardo booked me a taxi to the airport which was 250 pesos, much cheaper than any of the quotes I had .

United KingdomNoisy barking dogs at night even with my earplugs in! However this seems to be the case in many places throughout Mexico!
Good value for Oaxaca in a reasonably good location. Only about 12 mintes walk to the church of Santo Domingo. Appreciated having a rooftop terrace & communal kitchen with fridge & complimentary water. The rooms are small & basic but clean. The couple who live nearby are very helpful & friendly.

United StatesThere are dogs in the area that bark a lot which at times was annoying.
The location was convenient to the zocalo, about a 20 minute walk. The on site managers were very friendly and I was allowed to check in early, which was greatly appreciated. The kitchen was stocked with coffee and other basics, and it was a huge convenience. I had a nice garden view from my room.

United StatesAt times, there are a lot of barking dogs but it doesn't typically last too long. We are animal lovers so do love seeing pets all over the city.
Within a reasonable walking distance to plenty of markets and attractions. The family that runs the place is very friendly and accommodating. We are traveling with our bikes and they were gracious enough to let us store our extra gear during our stay. The beds were firm and cozy and had everything we needed.

CanadaThe bed was a bit small for two. The room was smaller than it looked on the pictures.
It was in a quiet area in easy walking distance from all the important sites. Richardo, senior, was welcoming and explained everything thoroughly. He spoke Spanish slowly to ease our understanding. The wifi was very good. There was Netflix and YouTube available.

United StatesWe had a terrace but couldn't open it up because the screen doors were damaged. The shower was terrible the door leaked and the shower head needed cleaned. I was bitten by bugs in the bed and or bedding several times on the neck and chest while sleeping.
The location was nice, Sr. Ricardo and the Sinora were nice and tried to be helpful.

United StatesHot water in the shower would run out within a couple minutes. Noise wasn't a major issue but keep in mind there is a concert venue up the hill from here and if there is a concert going on as there was one night you will hear it. Would be nice to have a small mini fridge in the room but no big deal. I wish the windows had a screen. At the time I was in town(June) there were a lot of mosquitos out and about. So leaving your window open at night might not be a great idea.
Everything was accurate as far as description. It was clean. I had a very basic room as a solo traveler and it was decent for the price. Wifi was good, there was a ceiling fan which was good as there as there was no air conditioner in my room, but I think Oaxaca may have mild enough climate to not need heating or cooling.

CanadaI’m TRAUMATIZED by this place. When we entered our room, we noticed it was DIRTY. Hairs everywhere, lizard poop in the sink (photo attached), smelly towels and dust. We politely asked for a small cleanup and change of towels and the owner responded us “no podemos cumplir todos sus detalles”. He told us we was going to clean it up but never did it. Later during the week, I found a cockroach in the shower when I was showering. We were honestly afraid to ask for anything because anytime we would talk to the owner he would nag us. We used the same dirty and smelly towels the entire stay and didn’t feel at ease sleeping in the dirty sheets. It was such a relief to finally leave this place after only 4 nights that felt like an eternity.
The guesthouse was near many restaurants and cafes.

United StatesShower needs renovation. I called the owner, he fixed it, it was acceptable after he fixed it. The room doesn't have air conditioner, may not be suitable for a big fat guys.
The room is of decent size, with storage. Owners are responsive and gave me coffee, tea, oil, salt, and pepper. Water is provided. Fans provided are powerful enough to keep the room cool. Anyway Oaxaca is not so hot, just in the afternoon it gets hot. It cools down as the day goes by. As a solo female, I can sleep comfortably without air conditioner there. As described , 1km, 20 mins walk to town.
