Mexican buildings don’t usually have screens on the windows, but if we could open windows and keep mosquitoes out, we could bring in cooler air with the fan. Would love a mini-fridge in the rooms.

I sought out this hotel for the reviews of comfortable beds. Two other hotels I tried in Puebla had very hard beds. I slept very well here in two different rooms. It was warm, but they gave us a fan. The fan was loud but I sleep with swimmer’s earplugs, and the sound did not bother my husband. We had immediate hot water and great water pressure in the king room with balcony. The water pressure was not as strong, and the hot water took longer in the Moroccan room. But it’s an old building, so if you want to be in the historic center at this price, this is normal. There was a coffee maker and bottled water in the rooms. We loved it, and will book here again, but not in May or in summer if rainy season is late because even a fan would not be enough.

I would not be able to stay here in May because there is no air conditioning. However, last May I chose a hotel in Centro Historico with air conditioning, and there was mold in it because of the moisture in these old buildings, so I had to move to a different hotel that had an awful bed.

Odd layout, where window and door lead to the balcony/entry. So to try to get fresh air, the room was exposed, and not secure.

Perfect location. Exceptionally beautiful rooms. Friendly staff. Great value.

Was hot at night - could have done with a fan! Was noisy Friday evening but the weekend was fine! Slept well.

Beautiful rooms! Lovely to have a balcony. Very comfortable bed. Showers and hot water worked great. Beautiful tiled floor and painted ceiling! Loved this room. A great stay and great location - thank you.

Rooms are not isolated, they are paired via a closed door, so great audibility bothers a lot -- you hear everything what happens in the neighbour room. Hair dryer in the bathroom did not work, I had to ask for another one. Bulbs were burned out in the hallway, I asked to replace. Despite the stated, no socket near the bed, but electric extension cord was luckily found in a nightstand.

A real XVIII century building with high ceilings and old furniture. Perfect location, just 2 minutes from the city centre. 24-hour car park service just 100 meters from the hotel.

If you get the 2 bedroom, be aware that the layout is a little inconvenient. You open the door to the 1st room and walk through that to the 2nd bedroom where the bathroom is also accessed. There isn't a separate bathroom access from bedroom 1. But the 2 separate rooms were perfect for friends traveling together.

The 2-bedroom unit was on the corner with balconies overlooking the street, but noise at night was not a problem. The beds were comfortable and the facilities beautiful. Please remember the building is very old, but the hotel has done a great job keeping the old but adding modern niceties, like hot water. We had a small problem with the bathroom drain which the staff fixed while we were out for the day.

Balcony rooms were great but a bit noisy if you leave the doors/windows open to cool off; interior rooms quite hot and windows only opened to courtyard where others can see in. Recommend using warm white for light bulbs to avoid office-type lighting. Could use some maintenance TLC but great value regardless

The street was quite noisy with party goers, cleaning trucks, and the police vehicle making very annoying beeps for no apparent reason. Because the rooms are not air-conditioned, it was difficult to keep, the terrace door closed and still be comfortable. But it was still fun to stay in such a unit building.

This is a beautiful historic building where every room has a different decor, including art objects, elaborately carved furniture, chandeliers. Our room was huge with a big bathroom and a small terrace overlooking the street. The decor included objects from India, paintings, etc. that were very interesting and unusual in a hotel. When we asked for extra pillows and a fan, they came almost immediately. The location was great, just one block from the zocalo, actually it was partly in the center.

There was no wine opener or glasses in the room.

This hotel was built in the 18th century and has been maintained to preserve its authenticity. Our room had a balcony above the street. It was very spacious with lots of antiques. The location is wonderful. There are great bars and restaurants on the streets below but it is not noisy at night. It is only a brief walk to the Zocalo and the artists quarter. All of the buildings in the historical district have been carefully preserved. The hotel is an extension of the street as there is no setback from the road to the front door. The Wifi is great but there are no other services. However, you can get whatever you want just outside the hotel.

The water pressure in the shower was very low.

One of the ongoing problems with hotels in Mexico is the cama hotelera, the “hotel” bed. A lot of hotels buy harder, firmer mattresses because they last longer, and it is like sleeping on a concrete slab. So you can imagine how thrilled we were to discover this lovely hotel where management had invested in providing a comfortable thermapedic type mattress layer to make the beds super comfortable. And the hot water was great in the showers. The location was great. The rooms were lovely. And wacky in a good way. Lots of antique furniture and the Moroccan Room is one well worth asking for, with its Morocco themed walls and furniture. We would stay here again. The reception staff, truly wonderful. They let us leave our big luggage with them while we road tripped to Cuetzalan for a few days. For more on our trip, and Puebla check out my photos on Jay Francis Día de Muertos 2023 on fb. Update January 2024. I returned to the hotel in January for two nights. January is probably one of the colder months in Puebla. I stayed in room 101 and the king size bed was super comfortable and I slept very well. Being an older hotel, there is no heating in the room so I asked for an extra blanket, and when it was bedtime, I just made quick moves between the bathroom, room area, and bed. What’s in bed, I was perfectly warm and actually slept late. Now, an older hotel running the hot water in January. I noted that it took about five minutes for the hot water to be delivered to the shower, which makes sense because that water has to pass the meters and meters of hotel piping that is probably cold because of the time of year. also being an older hotel, they wouldn’t have their own pressurization system so the water is coming out at fairly low pressure based on whatever the city can deliver. But it wasn’t a major problem for me and the comfortable bed and the location still make me give this hotel a thumbs up. Also, in room 101, lots of closet and drawer space because it is a nice size room
