The only con is it's not in the city centre. However we found getting buses in and out really easy and I'm sure taxis would be cheap too.

We loved this place! Me and my sister came here for the start of our trip and we were welcomed so warmly by the owners. The rooms and kitchen are clean and comfy. The view from the roof terrace is GORGEOUS and we appreciated all the cacti plants decorating it. Also the owners are so helpful and responsive. Highly recommend!

Not much to dislike! The other couple said their bed was a little stiff, but back home they have a soft bed so that’s a typical adjustment.

the property is an amazing compound with lots of spread out spaces for individuals to hang out. The view is just as great as the pictures they show. My partner and I slept deeply and well each night. The hosts are so sweet and helpful. My group didn’t speak spanish much at all, but they still emphasized speaking with us even with the headache of translation apps. They shared local type of taco, drink, and fruit with us, we truly did get that local experience staying there. I got extremely ill the last two days we were at the property, and they were gracious checking in on me and other amazing details. I also had a final exam to do and they helped us get papers printed off. 10/10 generous.

Casa Donaji was an absolute delight! The hosts were incredible and very attentive/ quick to respond to any questions we had. We were even greeted with the finest oaxacan coffee on arrival! The neighbourhood of volcanes is charming and you’ll find the best pizza just around the corner (shout out ilegal pizzeria) The rooftop terrace is beautiful, it boats the best view of oaxaca city! The location is a short taxi or bus ride to Centro, not inconvenient at all. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom is clean, shared kitchen is also great and clean, everything you need. We had a home cooked breakfast and coffee (delicious!) and were able to leave our luggage after check out while we went on a near by hike. We were treated like family at Casa Donaji, thank you!

not sure if the walls are thin or what's the reason, but it can be quite noisy as you can hear steps and doors opening and closing all over like it is happening next to your bed. Wasn't a big issue for us but probably a problem for light sleepers.

The view was awesome, the kitchen was well equipped, beds were comfortable and the hosts were beyond wonderful, I think the family that owns the place is warm hearted and have printed their essence in every corner of the house, just lovely 🌹

Our room was located in the basement and had no windows that went out of the open. This really wasn't a big problem for us since we just spent most of our time at Casa Donaji at the really beautiful roof terrace :)

Had a really beautiful stay at Casa Donaji! The family is lovely and helped us with everything we needed, whenever we needed it. The location of the house is great. Far away from the bustling touristic center but well and very conveniently connected by public transport whenever you want to visit the Centro. The area itself is a quiet area with lots of possibilities to buy food and groceries, we really liked it. The roof terrace is a gem, the view just amazing.

The location is outside the downtown, but you can get around by bus or taxi. There's also a bit of street noise, especially in the mornings (of course, people have lives). However, all of this was anticipated by the host, and it wasn't a problem for me.

The house and terrace are so beautiful that you can work on the terrace with a view of the mountains. I can describe it as a very colorful stay.

Only minor things: two guests who where there for a while claimed a bit too much of the fridge and stuff like that. The busses back the the guesthouse have limited hours in the evening. Overall nothing that the family/hosts could be held accountable for.

The family is really heartwarming and welcoming. We did feel welcome even during birthdays etc. great experience to be treated so inclusive. The view from the rooftop is amazing. We spend quite a few moments just eating and drinking there, it's a great place to meet other guests.

The room was quite dark (only one window). We could hear a lot of noises from the street and barking dogs.

The family that runs the guest house is great, very welcoming and helpful. The room also has a kitchen and utensils + drinkable water tank. The terrace has a great view over the city.

First, our host, David, his family, and their 18-year-old dog were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They generously shared information about Oaxaca and the traditions of Día de los Muertos, making our stay both educational and enjoyable. They also showed great care for our safety, especially at night, and even provided transportation services late in the evening. My friend and I truly felt at home and appreciated in their care. The room was clean and comfortable, with an additional living space and kitchen that made our stay even more convenient. Do note that you'll need to bring your own shampoo and body wash. The common space on the third floor is absolutely AMAZING. While the location is a bit farther from downtown Oaxaca, the stunning mountain views from the beautiful garden make it well worth the stay.

The family are just the most delightful people. The sons are very helfpul and the abuelo / abuelo are so warm. Helpful if you do speak some spanish to extra enjoy, but truly a wonderful and authentic experience either way.

Anything I put here would be nitpicky. It’s a room in someone’s house, so a very different and better experience than a big hotel.

The terrace was fantastic, great views of the hills behind Oaxaca. Location was about an hour walk or 40 minutes by bus in a very friendly, local neighborhood, way different than the over touristed center, but still easy enough to get to and from. The family that owns the property are all super friendly and helpful. Also, the room was quite large and comfortable and equipped with all the kitchen supplies we needed.

It was far from the place and at night there is less transportation but I already knew that coming in.

Once you learn how to use the transportation it’s quite simple! They help you find a way to the zocalo which is where everything is at. They’re super kind and wanting to help. Would definitely come back and stay with them.

This family business is a real gem! The rooftop terrace is the best view in all of Oaxaca, and my stay was lovely. The host, Ever, made sure I was comfortable and gave me detailed instructions and links to bus stops for getting in and out of central Oaxaca (it’s an easy ride and the bus stop is only a few steps from the house). Safe neighborhood and a great place to stay.

The hosts, Elu and here husband were so kind and helpful, and their hospitality made my stay in Oaxaca very special. The location was in a more suburban part of town which I loved. It was nice to be out of the city and with a view of the hills.
