Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThe rooms are a bit dated. Food at Acqua (main buffet) was ok, but the place is incredibly loud.
Spacious and clean rooms, super comfortable beds, and amazing views. 100% wheelchair accesible. Very nice pools and jacuzzis. The food at the specialty restaurants was good! The staff was very friendly and made us feel at home.

United StatesDinner buffet could have been better. We ended up leaving 3/5 nights to get dinner in town
Breakfast buffet was great everyday, location was beautiful but a little far from town and a long taxi ride. Although we planned on staying on the resort most of the time so it wasn’t a huge inconvenience

United Statesjust to finish :-) were no bother. We loved the Coffee Bar, servicing variety coffee+, all day. View from our room was spectacular. Again, our room was always spotless and super comfortable. If we called for anything, it was executed promptly. I told the management they should also provide size L room slippers. The only size they provide is only good enough for women and petite men. The best there was no psychological pressure to give TIPS. Employees worked well because it was their job, not for tips. If we gave any Tips, it was greatly appreciated, with modesty. Our stay at Azul Grande was above our expectation. NOTHING negative
Traveling from the Hotel Zone in downtown IXTAPA, to get to Azul Grande is on beautifully groomed and clean road. After checking into assigned room, the management called in no time to ask if we like everything or need anything. Azul Ixtapa Grande is a SPOTLESS resort. I was very impressed with their immaculate landscaping, full of flowers. We used mainly the infinity pool, while that one has the best views of the ocean. I believe that pool should be an adult only and existing adults only for kids. That pool it takes much longer to get sun, better for kids' skin. Kids do not care for views. Pool service was working constantly serving drinks 11am-6pm. There is no food around pools. Elevators on the property are in 3 stages. They can take ADA persons comfortable and safely, even with wheelchair, right to the beach. Beach is swimmable and safe. All the staff was super friendly. They have many uniforms, with great designs and always clean. There are plenty employees working all day around for the comfort of guests. The beach has picturesque walking corridor to get to the other Azul Resort. Azul Grande guests can visit that resort to eat, swim and get entertained. The guest from there cannot visit Azul Grande. In the middle of the walk path is a fun restaurant. Oyster Bar, it needs booking in advance. We loved the Blackened Fish and the magnificent sunset. There is NO smoking anywhere on the resort property. Smokers must go to the beach. Employees are watching and reminding to the offenders. Azul Grande has 3 themed restaurants, all are good. Buffet was limited to amount of food, but every dish was good. The amount of food at the buffet depends on the amount of people visiting the hotel at that time...makes sense to me. My highlight was a Catch of the day, a Pop-Up restaurant above the water, for lunch. The fish was "soooo" fresh. We have not seen many dogs in the resort, if then, mainly little dogs. No dogs were at the pool area, I was afraid to see that.

MexicoRidiculous dress code for reservation only dinner (mandatory pants and closed shoes at 30deg outside). I (male) was able to get in wearing my mom's dress though. Adult only jacuzzi. My 13 year-old was not able to get in even with adult supervision and the lifeguard two meter away.
Great service. Modern and well maintained. Excellent location (private but close enough to great amenities such as crocodile sanctuary,Ixtapa Island, Playa linda, great cyclo path). The jacuzzi in the rooms. the View!

United StatesI did not like the "booking agent" when trying to book another week at a later time. Trying to forcefully sell me 3 rooms when all I needed was 2. Do your own booking online.
We completely enjoyed everything. One thing that stood out was the absence of pushy salesmen trying to get you to buy some "membership". We've been scammed by that in other Mexican hotels. I was pleasantly surprised this establishment did not have that at all! Loved it and will definitely go back!

MexicoPool and bars close really soon: pools close at 6:30 pm :(, and pool bars close at 6:00 pm :( I would love to have access to pool and bars (pool bars not the lobby one) at least up to 8 pm. Also, not so many options for restaurants, only the buffet was available.
Buffet restaurant was good, the room was great, also the staff attention and pools design.

United StatesAs I mentioned above, when we arrived we were told that we had to pay an extra fee, $75 a night for our dog, even though she is a certified service animal. We spoke to 4 different "managers" but got the same answer.
The hotel was beautiful but our experience was tainted by the fact we were forced to pay for our service animal--quite hefty daily fees, even though we had all the documentation that she is a service animal.

MexicoIf you want to rest (daytime and nightime), this is not the place to be, there is always noise, 3 out of 3 nights we could not have proper sleep because excessive noise, asked for help but they staff did not solve the root cause, they supposedly changed our rooms to have less noise, it was the same or worse, they placed us in front of the employee stairs, people came and went all night, you could hear the tires of service cars, etc. Regarding the root cause, they were not interested in solving it, the theories of different employees contradicted each other. The food was average, nothing special. The alcoholic drinks had no flavor, it would have been better if they had just served me syrup or soda. At the dinner specialty, the wonton soup, they only had one wonton. Disappointing.
The hotel is really nice, beautiful bedroom and facilities. The three pools are nice, the infinity pool is quite lovely. There are bar and snack stations really near to every pool and the beach.

MexicoUnfortunately there was way more that I didn’t like: 1. The first unpleasant moment was trying to make the reservation for the specialty restaurants and there was no space, apparently you have to be there at like 8am to make the reservation but your check in isn’t until 1:30pm? Makes no sense. Didn’t let me make the reservation over the phone. 2. Because there was no space in the specialty restaurant we were left to have dinner at the international buffet, which by the way, the menu, was honestly so disappointing. The food was not gross, but it wasn’t pleasant for a Saturday night dinner. 3. There is no internet in the rooms, we had 4 rooms in the 23rd floor and the internet and phone service was bad, I was on call at work and the service did not cooperate. 4. Check in time is at 3pm and checkout time is at 12pm, if you want to stay around and keep enjoying the facilitities you have to pay an additional $600 mxn and you get kicked out at 3pm, so not worth it. We decided to leave. If you’ve never been to any hotel in the area, this hotel is probably going to be great for you; however, as I am from nearby and we usually do weekend getaways to Ixtapa, I am familiar with the hotels in the area, and as I had heard a lot of positive comments about Grand, we decided to check it out, but it just didn’t meet my nor the rest of my group’s expectations, and to us personally, it was over priced for what we received. There are better all inclusive options at a cheaper price.
The hotel itself is nice, the rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable.

United StatesExtra Charges- When I arrived, I was charged extra for the two children who were 4 years old because the Booking site where I booked did not reflect the ages of my children correctly. The hotel did not offer any problem-solving solutions aside from paying the fee. The final price that I paid did not reflect the price I agreed to pay for my stay at Azul Grand. No capacity for the dinner reservation included in the package. The reservation place didn't even try to get us in and only one restaurant is open at a time outside of the buffet. I checked in on time and so there is no room for new guest to book the reservation. Included in the package was a mini bar in the room which wasn't even stocked so I had to call for them to re-stock it which they did. The activities center was closed so we did not get floaties for the kids to swim until the last day we were there. POOL closes at 7pm- I don't understand why? Due to the rain, the wet floors were not maintained. My child slipped while walking outside. Unfortunately, during our 2 night 3 day stay the weather sucked! But also there were very limited activities indoors. I like that there was a kids club to drop off kids but they did not do any of the activities planned. My child told me they just watched a movie and that's all they could do. Children were not given alternatives to color or do crafts. They have a great little kids chef kitchen but that was closed the entire time. Our stay cost over $653 dollars so it was not cheap for 2 nights. The bar closes at 11:30 p.m. Very limited places for children to be only one pool is really reserved for children 12 and under and that pool was not open. The jacuzzi jets did not work. I did not see actual access to the beach you have to leave the hotel and walk 10 min to get to the entrance of the beach.
The idea of the kids club is great if the staff actually follow the activities they plan for the day. The buffet food was great. The spa is pretty and the massage was great. The show at 8:30 pm was fun to see I appreciated that they have that for families. The staff is friendly. They gave us a sun hat for Dia de la Mujer :).

United StatesFood was terrible, cold and in some cases left overs were presented for other meals days later. Rooms smelt and the property hard no beach you could lay on. We were only told at check in that with a 7 night stay you could only reserve 3 nights at the restaurants the other nights at the buffet which is awful. Very noisy, and not much help from the front desk. Will definitely not be back. Ice machines, coffee maker and many other things did not work.
