Boat transfer to island was also more costly than stated on booking.com. $159 given as including all taxes, but was actually $210 upon arrival. Breakfast & Dinner was also expected to be included with my booking, but I was charged an additional $150 at the end of my stay for eating dinner on two nights. The stay was amazing, I just hadn't expected the extra costs beyond the budget I had originally recorded for my trip.

GermanyVery bad check-in experience, we arrived early and had to wait many hours until we finally get into our water villa at 2.30pm while the resort manager promised us at 1.30pm . It was very exhausted and disappointed!
Beautiful beaches with superb blue and clean water. Very nice water villa, new, beautiful and comfortable. Good beds. Tasty food from the main restaurant, good breakfast and great dinner. Very friendly staffs from the main restaurant and house keeping. Thank you! Free ice-cream every afternoon. Not too far away from the international airport, easy to reach by speedboat. Good price.

PortugalOnly a downside is that drinks aren’t included, so just something to be aware of. If you go snorkeling, watch out for the titan triggerfish — it’s a cool experience but definitely not a fish you want to mess with! And the prices of water activities, tours and spa are a bit high.
We had an amazing time at Velassaru! The hotel is absolutely beautiful — everything from the beaches to the landscape is perfectly maintained. What really stood out to us was the staff: everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything we needed. Our bungalow was incredible, we stayed in an overwater bungalow with a private pool, and it was just perfect. The view was amazing, especially at sunset, and we loved being able to jump straight into the sea or relax in the pool in total privacy. The coral reef just in front was a great spot for snorkeling! The food was great, and we especially loved the fact that they serve cava at breakfast — such a nice touch!

The hotel is a great choice if you don’t wanna to travel for a long trip from Male. It’s just 25 minutes by boat from the airport. All the staff are great and available. Breakfast is amazing with all sort of fruits for you to taste. All Island are incredible and it’s perfect to snorkeling right there.

Wonderful gateway to recharge yourself. Island was very clean. Staffs are very friendly and co-operative. Weekly experiences are very good for those who are energetic and active during holidays (we are more vacation means eat, drink and just relax kinda couple..haha!). We liked the food. Breakfast is amazing. For rest of the dining we mainly used the In Villa dining experience and it was just as fine. Nice blend in cocktails and mocktails. Pool was amazing. View from the villa is soothing. We ejoyed the sun rise every morning. It was a spectacular view. Lighting in evening around the resturants and bar and main pool adds to the attractions. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much in the island.

SingaporeVisited Maldives for 2nd time and this time stayed at the water villa of Velassaru Resort from 18 - 22 March 25 with my wife and 7 years old kid. The overall experience was fascinating and stunning. We were greeted and welcomed by Bota - a lady from Kazakhstan who can speaks English and Russian, she showed us our beautiful water villa with ample space and a comfortable bathtub. At Velassaru, there is a diving center that provided the complimentary snorkelling equipment. We brought our own snorkel that we bought from Decathlon and rented the fins from the diving centre. My kid loved snorkelling under our water villa as the water was clear and many fishes around. However, need to keep a look out for the yellowish Titan Triggerfish as the resort operator had informed us that there were few biting incidents that occurred. We had also taken the complimentary morning cruise which was chilling and amazing. There were also cruise to swim with Nurse Sharks at Sharks point which we loved it so much when so many Nurse Sharks, huge stingrays, and many others unique fishes that swam around us. At first we were quite hesitate whether to join the snorkelling trip, because my kid never swim in the ocean before..Lucky enough we met the Financial Controller Mr. Tong from Malaysia, he highly recommended that we join the snorkelling with Nurse Sharks trip and told us that this will be our life time experience. True enough this turned out to be the highlight of our trip! It was really unforgettable and memorable. Thanks to the operator at the diving centre for specially arranged an extra snorkelling trip for us on Friday.

I hope the resort can take steps to help protect the ocean and promote more sustainable practices . I believe the transfer costs from Malé airport to the resort are too expensive.

NorwayOnly two things: 1) Guests REALLY shouldn't have to pay for water at dinner. All other drinks, fine, but not water. Not only do we get as much water in the room as we like; the water is free at breakfast, and one could easily bring water to dinner (but that does not look very decorous). After all the generosity of the hotel in other aras (free excursions, free popcorn during beach cinema nights, free ice cream twice a day - all of these were very much appreciated), charging for water at dinner seemed most unnecessary and not in line with the generous feel of the place in other areas. When I went on an excursion with other guests, we all remarked upon this on the boat. It can't be a big revenue driver, but it does seem to detract significantly from the big picture, so the hotel should remove this charge. 2) Some of the sandbanks used to prop up beaches from erosion are visible, as are gas tanks/canisters, etc. that is not very beautiful. More effort should be put into these aesthetic considerations, given the huge efforts of the cleaning staff to keep everything perfect in our rooms and common areas (such as the lighting of the palm trees, the perfect vegetation, the star-constellation-like lights in the swimming pool, the spa, etc.). Apart from this, everything was excellent. I will recommend the Velassaru to all my friends! : )
I loved the beauty of the island, the excellent food, the world-class spa (the Indonesian ladies were true masters of their craft!), the shark-snorkelling excursion and the quality of my villa. I loved the small details, like the star-like light constellation in the pool at night, the hammock between the trees, the fact that the beautiful palm trees on the property were lit up at night so that we could appreciate their beauty; the fact that we could walk barefoot on the whole island (true barefoot luxury) and the fact that the sustainability focus on the island was so prominent. The breakfast buffet was among the best I've ever experienced in my whole life, and I've travelled a lot! All the dishes made from scratch and according to any whims and wishes, were truly impressive, both at breakfast and at dinner. I also appreciated the proximity to Male, which made both arrival and departure easy. The reception upon arrival was seamless, and the coordination with the Conrad upon my departure worked out perfectly. I also liked your shop, which had many cute souvenirs. I know you don't control the marine life, but that, too, was way beyond my expectations. All in all a magical stay! Thank you so much!

The food was outstanding, offering a great variety of delicious options every day. And the service? Simply top-notch—every staff member was incredibly kind, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. We didn’t remember all the names, but honestly, every single person was amazing—always cheerful, helpful, and making sure everything was perfect. They went above and beyond to make our stay special. Not only did they fulfill our request regarding the accommodation, but they even surprised us with an upgrade! One of the small details that made our stay even more magical was the ice cream man on a bicycle, who went around the island twice a day, bringing joy to guests with his fantastic ice cream. We will definitely be coming back!
