    The cats

The peaceful surrounds and beautiful scenery. The friendly happy staff and the quaint cottage. Our stay included breakfasts and an evening meal which were all well received.

If you like mountains, nature, that’s your spot…..

We got a fresh breakfast basket every day to our veranda porch. It was filled with fresh eggs and fruits from the farm. The land, the view was amazing and the people there very friendly. It felt authentic and I really wanted to get a feeling for Mauritius. The coast is so touristy and this place is a little garden of Eden within the hectic buzz around.

    Nothing really.

Great remote and quiet and authentic location. Rooms were clean and well maintained, the fireplace on the balcony & the separate grill-hut were a great add-on. Staff was very friendly as well.

I think the house could have been cleaner. The cleaners came every day and made the beds, but it didn’t seem like the floors or counters were cleaned. It would have been nice to be able to get a cold drink at the kiosk next to the pool.

The living room on the patio with a fireplace and the table outside set for dinner and breakfast were wonderful. We enjoyed the home cooked dinners and the generous breakfast. The beds were comfortable with luxurious sheets and the rooms were big, each with its own bathroom. The house was well equipped and comfortable. We also loved the disc golf and the swimming pool up on the hill was beautiful, although freezing!

Make sure that you take 2-3 nights from your Mauritius stay to stay on this gem of a place. And also explore Chamarel and Le Morne beach and mountain. This eco lodge is really something else and would add so much to your Mauritius memories. The food is great (take dinners) and also the farm tour is highly recommended. And above all, the staff is extremely nice and friendly. We loved this place!

This is not negative as such, but points to consider before you go: as cabin is in the middle of rain forest like environment, be ready to be accompanied with ants (we had them in the bed first couple of nights), frogs, mices, birds, cats.. 😄 Mosquitos are real thing here, they bite 24/7, repellent is a absolute must (avaliable in small farm shop). Things to improve: breakfasts are bit too repetitive. Fire wood too large, get the axe :-)

If your are outdoor / nature lover, this one is for you. We had small 2 person cabin with a stunning view to the valley and hills. The accommodation is experience alone, set on the farm (don't imagine Yellowstone, you actually only see small bits of it and to see actual farm, you need to go on the tour) in Chamarel, it's great base for adventures (if you have rental car) since you can pretty much reach any point on island by one or one and half hour driving. This is a not luxury resort, it's assumed you will take care of lunch (no options there), dinner is a option as delivery to the fridge, breakfast are delivered in the morning to the cabins. But you have privacy and you are master of your time. Farms offers barbecue, highly recommended to try it.

This was a truly amazing place! We stayed in a smaller cottage (le Percheur) which was perfect for two. The view from the terrace is beautiful. The breakfast was brought to the cottage. We ordered dinner one day and it was waiting for us in the fridge when we got back from our day activities, just for us to heat it up. The surroundings and the little pool are also very nice.

Unique and stunning accommodation. We wanted to stay somewhere more interesting than one of the massive Mauritian chain hotels and this place blew us away. The breakfast was EXCEPTIONAL- farm fresh and delivered to your private cottage. We made a lovely fire at our cottage and watched the sun set. Also incredibly convenient location to the Charmel waterfall and ebony forest and Le Morne.

Our family of 4 had a wonderful stay at La Vielle Cheminée. The farm is absolutely beautiful and the view from the swimming pool area is breathtaking. The farm has many different animals but the horses were the highlight of this stay for our children. We stayed at Le Maison du Potager, the lodge was beautifully decorated but most importantly was very spacious and comfortable. The lodge was cleaned daily and the delicious breakfast served every morning at the balcony. The staff was very welcoming , helpful and accomodating of any requests you might have . The location is excellent to explore all the beautiful places at Chamarel. Our only regret was not having the time to explore the farm further. Maybe next time:)

Kitchen a little basic but that’s a preference and I’d still encourage anyone to go and stay.

Good location and like the whole ethos, lodges and plenty to do on the farm as well as surrounding area. Plunge pool and view is amazing - great spot to see fruitbats. Thoroughly recommend an evening meal - and we loved the open fireplace on the veranda.
