Smokers spoiling our dinner at times - should be a smoke free hotel. Menu was a bit basic some nights. Also, several peices of wire sticking up from the beach just below the water line meant some kids or adults will gash their legs at some point - yes we did inform the staff!

Location was great for exploring the area. Staff were helpful and freindly especially Deepa and Dineesha.

Nothing to complain

Excellent location at the beach as this is relatively small boutique type hotel, very quiet so you can really relax, many rooms fronting the sea (really 10m to the beach), helpful staff, sufficient breakfast, all day food at the hotel restaurant with view to the ocean, nice garden, beach beds, really no need to go outside the hotel.

Perfect territory, restaurant under a huge tree on the beach, very nice place, enjoyed sunsets. The hotel is a garden actually, everything is blooming. The room was nice and cosy, modern. The bathroom unfortunately has scarce ventilation, a bit of wet smell, but not a huge problem. We booked an excursion (snorkeling with dolfins), goes right from the beach, it was fantastic, with bbq lunch, fish extremely tasty! Our best meal in Mauritius... Breakfasts in the hotel ok, but dinners not so tasty, though with sunset view. Enjoyed one evening with live music - spanish guitar :)

The hotel can do better in creating consistent service. Some people are amazing and think outside the box while others either just follow orders or simply don't think. One way to accomplish that could be better internal communications.

Beach, location, setting... You get what you pay for and the vibration is beautiful. Waking up everyday for a swim at gorgeous turquoise waters... Beach front with plenty of room to hangout... Location is 4min from stores and restaurant, and 10-30 minutes from most of the best attractions you'd find on the island.

When we checked in, our room 27, was not clean at all, the floor, the dust, visible signs of degradation in the bathroom. The staff is not smiling at all, most of them except 2 or 3 max which were nice ( especially Varun is a a very good guy) . Otherwise, you almost feel that the staff is doing you a big favour that you stay there. I asked for a coffee in the morning and they replied, did you not read the papers with opening times? 😂 After a 13 h flight imagine how pleasant this was.

The food was average. I believe that the choice of dishes was not enough and that the food was repeated several times. The price of the cocktail is too high and the quantity too small. The waiters are a little confused, but they executed all the orders we requested. During our stay inside the hotel, a rather strange and intense smell was felt.

The room was of sufficient size, the bed was comfortable. I like that the room is equipped with a mosquito net. The approach to the beach is very nicely done. The hotel is relatively quiet.

We had a half board stay booked but food was not satisfactory. 2/3 nights we ate outside. We arrived in the weekend and replacement staff was not very helpful with renting car. All calls have to be made by yourself even though you might not have ability to call from cell phone. Our flight was delayed and we asked to extend our stay. We were informed that there were 2 rooms available but they could not book for us in advance. By the afternoon both rooms were booked and we had to look for alternative accomodation

Whilst the food was good, I personally would have preferred waiter service rather than buffet for dinner. The a la carte menu was quite basic.

I feel like vegetarians would have a harder time at dinner time, as even salads often had meat or fish in them and the vegetarian dishes (such as pasta) were sometimes rather bland. I also missed vegetables at breakfast. The wine list could definitely be longer.

We had a wonderful stay at La Mariposa. The staff was very attentive and helpful, the breakfast was very good (even if some more veggies would have been appreciated), the room was spotless clean and spacious enough (and the shower was great). The garden is a dream. We enjoyed the buffet dinners next to the beach a lot, there was plenty to choose from and the meat and curries were always delicious. The beverages are reasonably priced, as are the lunch options. They serve filter coffee for breakfast but it's good coffee, and the cappuccino is only € 2.50 if you need it.

Breakfast could have been a bit more varied. Same spread every day. Rooms getting a bit dated - will need some TLC soon.
