Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AzerbaijanThe building was old and the music from outside could be clearly heard inside. For those who like to sleep early, the noise can be a problem.Cleanliness was not very satisfactory. The price felt a bit too high for what was offered.
The location inside the Old Town was very convenient.

CyprusLots of things were sketchy or broken. We didn't mind it too much, but the bad ones were the weird stain on the bedsheets and one of our sofa beds was broken, it had a big dent.
Great location and very cheap. Staff waited for us until we arrived, they were very nice. Okay for our short overnight stay but not for longer. Good for its price.

United StatesVery hard to find the actual building and the reception desk (which are not at the same location). Calling the front desk was somewhat helpful as one lady was nice but then a man came on and berated us for no reason for bothering them with too many calls and saying we should just find the reception ourselves “like everybody else” - very strange behavior.
Good to be right inside the old city (except for the noise part), the kitchenette was useful

In the center of Kotor Old Town, the price is reasonable for such a touristic place. The apartment is simple, but has everything you need, the staff is nice and helpful

United KingdomYou have to pay for the room in cash. The noise from the club is incredibly loud until 1am. At 8am the noisy church bells will wake you up and they ring often.
The room had good air conditioning. The room was comfortable and spacious. The staff walked me to the apartment from reception which was very helpful. The shared kitchen and bathroom facilities were good.

United StatesThe fact that the kitchen and bathroom were shared with 2 other parties (which I failed to realize in advance). One of the other parties had hijacked the kitchen and spread their wet clothes on the table and chairs, creating a terrible smell everywhere. The bathroom was also somewhat dirtied, to the point that only one of us dared take a shower in it. We used it minimally. Before settling in we asked the management for a different accommodation, which was considered but rejected. A better manager would have readily agreed to satisfy the paying customer, even if not entirely at fault for a bad situation. I also need to stress that we were falsely told that we would find free parking at a place not too far away. There were less than 20 spots there, all of them taken, and the 3 other available lots within half a mile had dozens of cars waiting in line to get in. After spending 3-4 hours to find a place to park our car we ended up finding an opening at the free lot, but this was an experience we would never repeat.
The actual room we slept in was very clean. Rather small, but adequate just for sleeping. Kotor is a nice place, even though the parking around it is atrocious. The location of the office managing the property was very close to one of the gates into the old town, but we didn’t know that (no directions whatsoever were relayed to us), until we spent a couple of harrowing hours to find it. Not to mention the extra hours spent trying to find parking (see below). The cost for the accommodation was relatively small, which is a positive.

TurkeyThe dishwasher and electric stove do not work. The air conditioning is very inadequate. The entrance to the building and the interior of the house are very old. It may only be enough for sleeping at night. Unless you are a very hygienic person.

United KingdomIt absolutely stank of weed in our room. The room was also not the one we had booked, it stated there was a terrace and view and we were on ground level, extremely dark and no view at all. The room felt a bit grubby, especially the bathroom.

The apartment is placed central in Kotor old town. It cam work as a very nice base for you, so you can go home and get a cup of coffee and take a small break. There was a mistake in the booking, so instead of a small room foe two persons, we god a big family apartmen with our own kitchen.

MontenegroWhile the accommodation itself was charming and comfortable, I couldn't overlook the peculiar behavior of the host. Unfortunately, their demeanor was a bit odd, and it seemed like they lacked patience during our interactions. Clear communication and a more welcoming attitude would have significantly improved the overall experience. One notable inconvenience was the absence of parking facilities. It would have been helpful to have a designated parking space, especially considering the challenges of finding parking in the busy old town area. Moreover, the cleanliness of the floors was a bit disappointing. It was evident that more attention could have been given to maintaining a pristine environment. On a practical note, the water pressure in the bathtub was a recurring issue. While it didn't ruin my stay, it would be beneficial for the hosts to address this concern to ensure a more enjoyable bathing experience for future guests.
I couldn't have asked for a better location during my stay in Kotor. The apartment nestled in the heart of the old town was a true gem. Being within walking distance of all the iconic bars and restaurants made exploring the city a breeze. The coziness and warmth of the room in Kotor's old town apartment were undeniable highlights of my stay. The comfortable atmosphere provided a welcoming retreat, making me feel right at home. While the room itself was delightful, I must mention that the price for one night was a bit on the higher side. However, considering it was New Year's Eve, the premium pricing seemed reasonable given the demand and the desire to celebrate the occasion in such a picturesque location. The festive atmosphere and the convenience of being in the heart of the old town contributed to the overall value of the experience.

United KingdomConsidering there is a cleaning fee added on, it wasn't clean enough. Floor hadn't been mopped. Our feet were grubby if we walked barefoot. Hairs on the sheets and towels. I've deducted 2 points for unclean looking sheets and poor quality towels. We didn't use it, but I think charging customers €1.50 to print something is quite bad. It doesn't cost that much in paper and ink...
Great location in the centre of old Town. 13 minute walk from the bus station and 7 minutes from two supermarkets. We thought we were getting a shared bathroom but it turned out to be private and it was like a whole apartment. Very good value. Kitchen equipment was good. I would recommend it.
