How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe were warmly welcomed by the father of the family after being in contact with one of the sons. He first sat us down on the porch and offered us something to drink. We talked a bit and after that he showed us our room, which was clean and had a refrigerator, air conditioning and 3 single beds. The next day we rented a couple of exceptional mountain bikes they had and went to a nearby beach (Waikiki) which the son had recommended us. Throughout our stay we ran into the family on a daily basis and had a lot of fun. Very helpful and kind people and the accommodation was worth it. The environment is a dream and there is a bakery down the street. Also a local restaurant at 5-10 min walking recommended by the dad was so good, we went back the next day for some more. So happy we ran into this beautiful home and beautiful family that we will definitely return when coming back to this beautiful country.

Verified reviewThe place was wonderful! Convenient location for those arriving via Tivat airport, spacious outside terraces and plenty of room. The house was always clean. The hosts were helpful and welcoming. Bonus: a parking lot for guests was available.

The washroom was smelling like dead rats and it was unbearable to use it.
Dear Guest, Your behavior during your stay was entirely unacceptable and far below the standard of conduct expected from any guest. It must be highlighted that you entered, slept in, and used rooms without payment or permission, caused disturbance and noise during the early morning hours, acted in a disrespectful and inappropriate manner, and showed no regard for our house rules or for our staff who strive to provide a pleasant experience for every visitor. Despite being given full access to all amenities and comfort throughout your stay, you left a false, offensive, and defamatory comment claiming that the property washroom "smells like dead rats." Such a statement is not only completely untrue but also deeply disrespectful toward our establishment and the efforts we invest in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. One misleading and insulting review cannot overshadow the numerous positive reviews we have received from guests who recognize our professionalism, commitment, and the quality of service we deliver. The advertisement does not state that you will be staying in a room upstairs of someone’s house. There was a lot of noise from the residential street area surrounding the property. Please note that the kitchen is shared and not private, as well as the bathrooms.

Verified reviewI stayed at this hostel for 10 days, and everything was perfect. The room was very clean, and the overall atmosphere was very tidy. Nikola and Vuko were incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They made me feel right at home and helped me with everything I needed. Staying in such a beautiful setting made my trip so much more enjoyable. I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone. I can't wait to come back!

Verified reviewThe apartment was clean, the kitchen well equipped for cooking, the hosts were really friendly and helped us several times :) The bed was wide enough for two people to comfortably sleep in it. Also, the view from our terrace was beautiful and most of the day it was in a shade so you can sit there and look at the mountains.

Verified reviewThe hosts were very friendly and helpful. The room had everything you need for a short stay, even a small private fridge for each room. The place was clean and had all the amenities.
The only two things I would improve (not really a big issue tho) are that the beds were not that comfortable, but it wasn't really an issue for us since we were really tired each evening from exploring such a beautiful country. Also there was no detergent for the washing machine.

Traffic into Tivat and Kotor was at our time in August quiet bad. But Tivat is a great place to stay with beaches close by to visit.

Verified reviewThe host was very welcoming and informed us of all the best spots to visit around Tivat and how to get around. Shared kitchen was convenient and loved the outside balcony.
A bit of a walk to get to the property from town, however there are hourly buses to most spots. A car would be great in general for the area.

Verified reviewVery nice family hosts this accommodation.They are always there to help you if you need anything or to recommend places to visit, restaurants...I was accommodated in a room that shares a bathroom and a kitchen, but despite that, the hygiene is at the highest level, it is cleaned every day.I recommend this accommodation regardless of whether you are a solo traveler, a couple or a family with children.
