How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewA very elegant and quiet riad, with gorgeous views towards the city from the restaurant / rooftop. It's very close to the entrance of the Fez Medina. We tried the dinner option and loved it. Alex and his wife were very nice welcoming us and telling us a bit if the history of the place and giving us different tips for the city.
Nothing to complain about

Verified reviewWe had such a memorable stay at Riad La Calife. It’s one of those places that instantly feels special — full of charm, history, and warmth. Every detail is beautiful, from the colorful tiles and carved cedar doors to the stained glass windows and peaceful fountain. You can really tell how much thought and care has gone into creating this place. What made it even more special was meeting Alex and Jasmine. Alex used to be a location scout in France and somehow ended up in Fes after meeting Jasmine — and together they’ve created something truly unique. Their story adds so much heart to the Riad, and it was a pleasure to hear it from them in person. The breakfast was amazing — fresh, generous, and served in the loveliest setting. Honestly some of the best we had on the whole trip. The whole team working at the Riad was fantastic too. So kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. They even offered to post our postcards for us, which was just one of many thoughtful touches. We’re really grateful we found this place. It felt like more than just a stay — it was an experience. Would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Fes.

Verified reviewAlex, Jasmine, Moumain and the whole riad team are excellent hosts and we had a very enjoyable stay. Situated at the edge of the Fes Medina, Riad le Calife is conveniently located for walks, tours, restaurants, and city access. The Riad is beautifully restored and decorated with a real collectors and designer's' eye that evokes the golden age of that ancient city..

Verified reviewFirst, the place is absolutely gorgeous… Like a serene palace. Secondly, the staff and owners are beyond gracious… There to help you at almost every turn. We got great recommendations about what to do, where to shop, where to eat… You name it! It is also really lovely to have a place that has a bar emits the usual sans alcohol in the medina. There really isn’t anything not to like!

Verified reviewWe had a fantastic stay at this beautiful riad. Alex welcomed us with great energy and gave us a wonderful introduction to the city — we ended up loving it thanks to him. Yasmin was always kind and helpful, and their recommendations were spot-on. And although Bimba wasn’t always around, whenever she was, she brought such warmth and joy that we jokingly agreed she might be the real host of the riad. The staff were all very friendly, and the location was perfect — easy to find. The riad was beautifully decorated and had a very peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. I was traveling with my mother, and she also had a great time. Highly recommended!

Verified reviewThe place was exceptional! Great location, very comfortable bed in beautifully decorated room with a lot of attention to details in every corner. The property was quiet and serene which was such a nice change from the hustle bustle of the medina. It was easy to find as it's close to a main road, an important point as the medina is not easy to navigate. The bar takes you back to 1920's with the music and ambiance to match. The hosts, Alex and Jasmine, were very hospitable and make us felt very welcome! The staff were all very graciously helpful. Had a meal there one night and the food was excellent, make sure you eat at least once at the property as the chef made excellent home cook meals which you won't get at restaurants. Will definitely go back to stay in the future, even just to relax in the beautiful courtyard and rooftop.

Verified reviewThe Riad is in a perfect location. Once you work out the labyrinthine alleyways, everywhere is easy walking distance. The Riad itself is a home from home. The decor is full of fascinating treasures that Alex and Yasmine have collected. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Fatima, the chef, produces good breakfasts and evening meals. We loved it.

Verified reviewThe owners, Yasmine and Alex, are exceptionally friendly and helpful.. and enthusiastic!! The riad is beautiful and full of fascinating artefacts and pictures. The staff are very friendly and kind; going out of their way to look after the guests. The location is great. In the heart of the Medina but quiet, not touristy and with fabulous views from the roof terrace.
I misunderstood the booking.com description of the room we chose. It said that the floor to ceiling windows opened onto a patio. I thought it had direct outdoor space but it meant overlooking the central atrium. My mistake and there was nothing to dislike! Even apples each day in our room.. my favourite fruit. 😁

Verified reviewI can’t say enough about Riad Le Calife—it is, without a doubt, the best place to stay in Morocco. This Riad is a true gem, owned by unique and authentic people who are a rare find in today’s world. From the moment you step inside, you are transported into a breathtaking palace filled with charm, history, and unparalleled beauty. The Riad itself is the most stunning place you will find in Morocco. Each room is uniquely designed with exquisite attention to detail, showcasing the owners’ amazing taste in antiques and decor. You can feel the passion and love they’ve poured into every corner of this magical place. The food is another highlight—prepared from scratch, every meal was absolutely delicious and unforgettable. But what truly sets Riad Le Calife apart is the exceptional hospitality. When my daughter arrived late due to an airline issue and her luggage was lost, Yasmine went above and beyond to track it down, arrange a driver to Casablanca, and ensure my daughter was brought safely to the hotel. This level of care and dedication is unmatched. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the old city of Fez, which I found far more captivating than Marrakech. The hosts’ recommendations for restaurants, sights, and guides were all 5-star, and if you’re looking for an amazing trip, let them organize it for you—they know the best of everything. If I return to Morocco, Riad Le Calife will be my first stop, and I’ll stay for a minimum of 3-5 days. This is not just a place to stay; it’s an experience that will leave you in awe. If you’re looking for authenticity, beauty, and heartfelt hospitality, look no further
