How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI had a wonderful stay at Riad Layla Rouge. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the location is perfect for exploring the Medina. A big thank you to the amazing staff, especially Azzeddin and Badr, who were incredibly kind, helpful, and made me feel right at home. The breakfast was delicious, fresh, and varied — the perfect way to start the day before heading out to discover Marrakech. I truly appreciated the hospitality and the friendly vibe of the riad. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a cozy and authentic Moroccan experience! 🌟
The only thing I didn’t like was having to leave Honestly, there was nothing to complain about everything was perfect If I had to mention one thing, it’s that I wish I could have stayed longer

Verified reviewThis was my second time staying and both times have been exceptional! The staff are so lovely and kind, Badr was so delightful and welcoming with everything! He went out of his way to help us. The location is really good within the medina but also very quiet and comfortable rooms. The hospitality is wonderful I would definitely recommend.

Verified reviewThe host Badr, really friendly and welkoming. The place is really close to the square and is located good for other options to go to because the taxis are located 2 minutes from there.

Verified reviewMuhammad was very kind.
The manager was very rude. He moved us to another Riad that we did not book and told us we had to then spend our morning moving back to the other place. He offered no compensation. We are trying to enjoy the rest of our vacation, so no time for more details, but this accommodation was definitely not as advertised and we are unclear how it could receive such a high rating. Also, I am quite sure they reused the condiments - yuk!

Verified reviewI wrote this message privately to a phone number of a manager called Said Jirone and I still await for an answe. rI am writing to you in order to put things in order about what happened with our booking 4552621703 in Riad Layla Rouge. We were supposed to get for the night of the 23rd of March the Suite Felicia, which included a private bathroom for the price of 58,35 euros according to Booking. After showing up at the reception, and paying the remaining 53 euros in cash, we were put on hold as we were addressed that our room was in a different location. We were scorted by one of the staff to a different place, Riad Jennah Rouge, a property that belonged to the same owner. And after being offered a tea just to delay the bad news we were going to be given. We were given a private room in a different building which was adjacent to the riad. As shown in the pictures, the quality of the place differs a lot from the advertised one, we had no private bathroom and, eventually, we found out that we were sharing the same space with two girls who were also allocated there but instead, they had paid 14 euros each. We expressed our concerns to the crew, and straight away we were given the chance to talk to the manager who, as compensation, offer a complementary dinner or a private tent in the following tour. I declined these offers as we had already wasted 2 hours of our time moving back and forth and I didn't want to extend any further this waste of time. I expressed my view to the manager on the phone about, how unfair this solution was sorted out. We feel that the hostel has not been honest with us, we feel ripped off and honestly I feel that at least a 50% refund should be given back. Marrakech has a big offer in terms of accommodation and we could have certainly found a cheaper alternative without this kind of hassle. Awaiting your response

Verified reviewLocation is good. Staff is ok. We were happy to leave this place.
We booked the suite and we paid around 50€ a night. The room is totally not worth it. The bathroom is falling apart. The toilet was wobbly, the seat broken. Shower flooded the bathroom. The tap was broken. The pillows are super dirty. Seems like they haven’t changed them since opening the hotel. The sheet was stained and too small for the double bed. Breakfast is nothing special and coffee tasted like chicory. Noise of metal chairs being dragged on the rooftop in the middle of the night.

Verified reviewgood breakfast, great staff and right in the middle of the medina.
booked a bed in the tent. I misunderstood....it was very cold and I got sick. Asked for another room but only a bed in a mixed dorm was available. I am a senior woman and this was very uncomfortable for me. Instead of staying 14 days, I only stayed 3 night. I left as soon as I found another riad.

Verified reviewNot much. Maybe the firm mattress
Been there several times. But this time was a mess. No room available when we arrived, moved to a backpacker riad/hostel that was really bad (no hot water for my friend taking a shower after me, and I'm fast) and far from the things we planned to see. Cockroach alive in the shower. No water to buy. This riad wasn't like this. Used to be cheerful and colorful and attentive. Now looks lazy and dirty and gloomy, and if those are 3 adjectives I enjoy, I would have stayed in UK.
