How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt was my first visit to Fès and it was an absolute perfect trip. The Riad has been renovated beautifully, with an outstanding garden, spa are and pool. Each room and suite has its own individual touch to it. It was lovely to have dinner at night in what felt like a calm oasis. The Riad is located at the top of the old Medina, which allows you to reach the Chouara tannery and Seffarine place in just 2-3 minutes. I especially want to thank my host, Wafa, who took me in like a friend/family right away. She took her time to show me around the city, giving me precious historical background informations of Fès and also connecting me to local artisans. While the entire city is simply a historical gem, it is the people that make it beautiful and once again you could feel Moroccan hospitality, generosity and true kindness. Thank you for making this experience truly valuable, immersive and unique, I could not have asked for a better trip and will be back!
I should have stayed longer to really appreciate all offerings of Riad Hanael and also to discover more of Fès besides the old Medina. Fès really is worth the travel and the newer parts of the town are worth visiting too!

Verified reviewA true paradise in the city! This family-run place was renovated over 10 years, and you can feel the love in every corner. There is a beautiful green courtyard with a pool, and two rooftop terrace with amazing views of Fes. The location is perfect — very central and everything is within walking distance. We arrived by car and parked in a secure parking lot just 6 minutes away on foot. The rooms are nicely decorated and have all the extras you might need. The service was outstanding — very friendly and always helpful. Breakfast was great, and you can also have dinner at the hotel. There is even a hammam, massage, and hot tub for extra relaxation. We had a wonderful stay! Thank you!

Verified reviewA beautifully restored gem in the heart of Fes This riad is a true oasis in the middle of the city - beautifully restored with incredible attention to detail. Every corner feels like a tribute to local craftsmanship, making it not just a place to stay but an artistic experience. The staff were exceptionally warm and welcoming, always going above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well looked after. Nothing was too much and they catered for our every need - from the owners to the waiters. Thank you. The food was outstanding, fresh, homemade, and full of flavour, prepared by talented local chefs right on site. Our stay was nothing short of wonderful, and we’re already dreaming of our return.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was exceptional with home made dishes and delicacies. The history of the riad and its construction was so interesting and eye-opening on the beauty and the details one can find on Moroccan craftsmanship. The tour that the hosts gave us at the beginning of our stay was much appreciated! Thank you so much all for ensuring that we have a great stay at your riad.

Verified reviewWe stayed for 4 nights and felt right at home in this beautiful Riad. It is very centrally located in the old Medina yet relatively close to a nearby car park which is a real bonus when transporting your luggage and accessing services outside the old town. The Riad has been exquisitely restored by the family who run it - with great sensitivity to the local architecture without compromising on all the modern essentials. The owners and staff were brilliant - kind, friendly and attentive to our every need. The garden area is a beautiful, peaceful place to while away a languid late afternoon and the rooftop terrace is the perfect location for breakfast with incredible views over the old town. I can’t recommend a stay here more highly!

Verified reviewThe warm welcome from the team, the newly renovated riad, and the lovely atmosphere made it a perfect place to relax after a day out. The food was excellent.
The dogs from the neighboring property were barking all night, which made it difficult to have a pleasant and restful sleep.

Verified reviewBeautifully renovated property with spacious and lovingly decorated rooms. Locationally excellent - on the far, tannery side of the medina which is much quieter but not too deep of a hike in. The facilities were lovely and the staff were kind and gracious.
This is a brand new hotel and definitely still a bit of a work in progress. It has the potential to be outstanding however there were a few quirks that need to be remedied before it can achieve its greatness. Proximity to the tannery while great for other reasons brings with it the odor and a concentration of flies which should be addressed and remedied for the price. The staff should work on their answers to inquiries which will certainly become FAQs to make them more useful outside of the hotel (booking guides and taxis seems to be the extent of their wheelhouse). Small inconveniences like payment in cash (NOT listed on here, this website btw), cold & hot water issues, etc were handled inefficiently. Most importantly, in reaction to said hiccups, the owner seemed most concerned about our potential review and explaining their newness as the cause of the inconveniences than the more appropriate reaction of ‘how can we make it right?’ which would coincidentally solve the review issue itself down the road.

Verified reviewThese property is very well restored, it is beautiful and an oasis inside the Medina. Staff were very helpful and kind, and breakfast was good. We also had dinner in the hotel once and it was excellent.
I’ve rated the property overall assuming the various items resulting from being new are worked out. In particular, CASH ONLY including your full room stay. This should be flagged more prominently in their listing, not only in policies. It should also be reiterated at check in. There are two items guests should be aware of regarding the location. 1) it’s directly across from the Choura tanneries. This is great if you wish to visit, but the smell of the tanneries is strong and almost always noticeable in the riad. I didn’t mind much, as it simply reminds me of the livestock farms I grew up on, but it’s not a pleasant smell. But for others this could be an real issue. 2) this location is on the quieter side of the Medina opposite the Blue Gate, we were targeted more near the riad by those trying to “help us” much more than in other areas. Keep this in mind.

Verified reviewIt is all very new.
Its location was very difficult, in that when we arrived, our car could get nowhere near the property. It is quite a drag up to the property from a very packed car park. Sadly the property is extremely close to the tannery which brings its own unpleasant aromas. It is a very new property, only been open for 2 months, and it shows. It is chaotic. The staff are all over the place. There is no credit card machine. There are four flights of stairs to get to your room if you are unlucky to be on the top floor, which with bags is challenging. We were offered no help upon our arrival. There are more chiefs than Indians. There is no single person who can tell you everything on offer at the Riad. It has taken 10 years to complete the renovation and parts are unsafe. On our final afternoon, we were advised that there was a sun terrace on the roof. One of the sun loungers was held together with a 2inch nail. My wife nearly damaged her back when lying on it, as it completely collapsed. We have photos to prove it. I regret to say that it appears as though it has been completed internally on the cheap. Tiny bathrooms, insubstantial doors. Not very satisfying.

Verified reviewThe property is beautifully restored and the gardens are very peaceful. Suite was spacious. Staff were friendly and helpful.
It is definitely overpriced compared to other riads in Fes. It was also cash only, and the service was a bit disorganized (both likely because they are newly opened).

Verified reviewThe place is a gem in the old city of Fez. Everyone in the team was exceptionally kind and helpful and understanding. Everything is brand new and impeccably clean. I travelled during Ramadan and the iftars and dinners were delicious (it safe to say that the meals were actually the best I have tried in Fez)... I would come back just to show this beautifully restored place to my family!
I literally loved everything about this Riyad.
