How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe grounds and rooms of the Palais are absolutely stunning. The craftsmanship is evident in the woodwork, tilework, and plasterwork, and we felt like we were staying in a piece of art. The pool was great and so refreshing after hot days walking around the medina. The location was good for us, just inside the medina walls, but a 10 minute walk from the main tourist area. if you are looking to stay right in the action, however, you may want to consider a different area. The staff went out of their way to plan a trip to a goat farm i had heard about where goat cheese is made. They hadn't heard about this place, but found it us and arranged a tour and driver. we appreciated them putting in the work to make this visit happen.
We booked the Souleyman suite and it was so incredibly hot, the A/C either didn't function correctly or wasn't big enough for the room. The bathroom was so hot it literally felt like you were in a sauna. Fortunately, we were able to switch rooms, but this suite either needs to be renovated or be made not available during the summer. I also agree with other posts that the bathrooms could be updated and the breakfast area could be made a little more comfortable, or perhaps be served outside.

Verified reviewElegant riad with wide offer including restaurant and rather big pool (when comparing to other riads). Very comfortable beds and good sleep conditions. Whole property very clean. Convenient parking 100m from the riad.
Shower head was a bit broken and was spreading water everywhere. Neighbourhood seems to be safe but walking medina labyrinth in the evening is not so pleasant because of young men giving you false “advises”.

Verified reviewThe best staff we've met in Morocco. All so lovely and helpful. They walked us to the road and helped get a taxi. The decor is beautiful and the little pool is great. Overall I would recommend. Beds were super comfortable
There wasn't really any soundproofing but it's an old building so to be expected. It was pretty quiet at night anyway so it wasn't a big issue . Bathrooms could do with a refurb

Verified reviewThe property and room was beautiful with an amazing views. The location was excellent and in a quiet neighborhood. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We had the Moroccan salad and it was delicious.
My bed was too hard for my liking, but the pillows were amazing. There was some minor upkeep needed, especially in the bathroom.

Verified reviewWe enjoyed our stay in that Riad, We felt very comfortable and very well looked after. Very nice atmosphere and very nice and big rooms. The location is good and there are parking facilities for a rental car.
If you will stay for several days there is a lack of options for the breakfast, but basically the breakfast is good.

Verified reviewFirstly the 3 guys- Hassan, Ibrahim and Josef made our stay fantastic. Always there to greet us and chat, couldn’t do enough to ensure we were comfortable, well fed etc. Gave good advice re getting around the town and about what to do and not to do! Room was large and palais had many locations through the property to relax and enjoy yourself, pool was fabulous Breakfast was amazing, with so many choices yet the boys would still offer to get us anything else if needed. They remembered I drank tea and brought it the second morning without asking, great musical performance unprompted by them at dinner in the Palais
At night, being hassled by children or men , wanting to direct or misdirect u as u went to/ from dinner, quite relentless, especially as the roads are confusing to navigate Aircon on max but still very warm at night- a small thing as was slightly furniture

Verified reviewExceptional Stay at Palais Houyam I recently stayed at Palais Houyam and had an incredible experience. The hospitality and service provided by the staff were truly exceptional and made my stay memorable. They were always attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that all my needs were met. The ambiance of Palais Houyam is unique and spectacular. The traditional Moroccan architecture combined with the outstanding staff creates a perfect blend of comfort and cultural immersion. The rooms are beautifully decorated and clean. One of the highlights of my stay was the delicious breakfast served every morning. The quality of the food was outstanding, offering a perfect start to each day. The rooftop terrace with its stunning views of the medina is another remarkable feature of this property. Overall, Palais Houyam offers an unparalleled experience with its exquisite design, excellent service, and warm hospitality. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Fes.

Verified reviewWe stayed at what was termed the "Royal suite". The room was on the ground floor opening to the courtyard and was very large with a four poster bed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The wifi worked perfectly.
The entire hotel including our "Royal suite" room and the bathroom in particular is badly in need of a major ugrade. Some of the furniture was broken or did not function and the bathroom was missing an entire drawer from the cabinet. What was worse the shower flooded badly and there seem to be some major plumbing issues that need addressing. The location also did not feel as safe as some of the others but this is more symptomatic of the Fes Medina in general rather than specific to this hotel. The breakfast would have to be the worst we have had in any hotel. Even though breakfast was included, we chose to have our breakfast at the nearby Cinema Cafe which was fantastic. I am at a loss for some of the high ratings of other reviews.
