How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had a great time and everything was above our expectations. Mohammed took great care of us, treated us to tea and biscuits/nuts/olives on arrival and also on arrival to the desert. He was in contact straight away after booking to tell us there is an extra charge of 25 Euro per person for camel to the camp. The camp was secluded in the desert and great for stargazing. We had an amazing dinner and sat around a fire for a bit. When we got back to the town we got the largest breakfast we have had during our stay in Morocco! They definitely try their best and we would recommend them 100%.

Verified reviewthe staffs are very kind, helpful and warm hearted, we got definitely a great experience-more than what we could have expected. the food was also amazing, the best we had on our way in morocco from marrakech to Tinghir--- great location...with rooms and facility that are adequate in a good sense that it is not too luxury but very comfortable. We were there for 3 days (2nights) and observed a bit how they operate / co-work on the whole experience that visitors could get, and we find them amazing ---we thought even maybe it would be great to consider in general(especially for such prices), some tipping for the camel rides, catering and the great drumming....(the camel ride before sunset +sand sliding was really worth it.) they even welcomed us to extended our stay for the time we need to wait for the evening bus to fez... for which we are super thankful.
everything works so well

Verified reviewWe (family with 4 kids) totally loved the experience of being away from the inhabited world. We rode 1,5 hours on the camels (actually dromedaries) to reach our small camp, where our hosts had already begun cooking a lovely and abundant tajine. The camels were treated respectfully by the guide. Seeing sunset and sunrise in the sand dunes is unforgettable, the light and shadow just breathtaking. Next morning back in the hotel in Merzouga, I noticed I had lost my car key in the tent. The hotel owner did everything he could to help me get it back, which I luckily did. This trip alone was worth the flight to Morocco...
In the first part of the sand dunes, their was some rubbish like plastic bags. Please help to keep this beautiful spot clean so everyone can enjoy it as much as we did.

Verified reviewCamel ride was great, very friendly guides and food and music was nice. Campfire and desert go together very well. If they got rid of a couple of bright lights in the camp then it would be perfect, but these are easily avoided. Would recommend:-)

Verified reviewThis camp as exactly what we hoped for - a camp in the Sahara, sand dunes camels, remote. Our hosts were helpful. Meals were excellent especially considering its remote location. The tent was fine - we didn't come for luxury accommodation.
No issues. everything, including transport to and from the camp, was well run.

Verified reviewThe location in the middle of the dunes is incredible! The picnic spot and the campfire were also very nice, especially during the night with a lot of stars. The food was really really good and abundant! (possibility of having it vegetarian). The staff was nice and available.
Previous reviews and the photos on here suggested they were luxury tents but what we had was just a basic tent with blankets on the floor. Very uncomfortable mattresses. There were no bathrooms like stated in the listing. No option to do any activities other than just walking (which was very nice though). Staff were super friendly but spoke no English or French. It was new years eve and we had read about music or drums but we had nothing, just the fire. We heard drums and fireworks from other camps but not this one. The owner wants you to write the review with him before leaving which may account for the high ratings. All in all it was a good experience but only really because of the location. If you can't handle a cold, uncomfortable nights sleep (in winter) or want activities and stuff in the evenings, this isn't the place. Basic at best but great experience to be in the desert.

Verified reviewMy stay at the Erg Chebbi Starlight Camp was a truly magical experience that exceeded all my expectations. This desert camp is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the Sahara Desert. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the surreal beauty of the towering sand dunes that surrounded the camp. The warm and hospitable staff welcomed me with traditional Moroccan tea, setting the tone for an unforgettable adventure. The accommodations were nothing short of remarkable. I stayed in one of the comfortable and beautifully decorated desert tents, complete with all the necessary amenities. But what truly made this stay exceptional was the opportunity to sleep under a blanket of stars. The clear desert sky provided an awe-inspiring celestial display, and I felt closer to the cosmos than ever before. The camp's activities were equally enchanting. The camel trek through the dunes allowed me to immerse myself in the desert's serene landscape. Watching the sunset and sunrise over the endless sand dunes was a spiritual experience that words can hardly describe. Dining at the camp was a gastronomic delight. The traditional Moroccan cuisine served here was a true feast for the senses, and dining by candlelight in the desert added an extra layer of magic to the experience. What truly sets Erg Chebbi Starlight Camp apart is the warmth and expertise of the staff. They shared their knowledge of the desert, its culture, and its history, making this not just a vacation but also an educational journey. If you're looking for an authentic desert adventure combined with luxury and a touch of romance, the Erg Chebbi Starlight Camp is the perfect choice. It's an experience that will stay with you long after you leave, and I can't wait to return for another night under the starlit desert sky."

Verified reviewExceptional We loved our stay at Erg chebbi starlight camp ! We stayed in the private camp and our tent was absolutely beautiful! The food was excellent too. We loved being able to sit outside late into the night and watch the stars. The whole atmosphere was extremely romantic, unique and beautiful. We also woke up early for a sunrise camel ride, one of the best experiences I've ever had. It was absolutely breathtaking to see the sun rise from the top of a sand dune. The staff were extremely attentive and kind and we couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more! ! Despite the fact that Merzouga is far from the big cities, it is 100% worth the trip to the desert!
Everything perfect.
+ Fabulous experience. The warmest welcome and great service from Mohammed and the team. The air conditioned room was beautifully decorated, comfortable and clean. Dinner and Breakfast were plentiful and delicious. A wonderful stay. Highly recommend

Verified reviewUnforgettable experience in the Sahara desert! The guys are extremely nice and welcoming, I can go on and on about their hospitality! They can accommodate all your needs. Camel? Sure! Jeep ride? No problem! ATV? Here it is! The tents are very nice and comfortable, the food is tasty, the drummers are super entertaining! It's an amazing immersive experience among the sand dunes. Not mentioning the breathtaking view of the sunset and the sunrise!!! Suggest to step outside the camp at night (there are some little chairs and puffs to sit on) to see the starry sky and make a wish upon a shooting star. I would highly recommend this tour! We've made remarkable memories here
