How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff were lovely and the facilities were clean
There's way too much noise near the hotel, it's understandable since it's located right above cafe central and is in the middle of the Old Medina but to anyone considering booking please bear in mind that it might be difficult to get a decent night of sleep
Thank you for your kind words about our team and the cleanliness of our facilities — we truly appreciate it. As you mentioned, our central location in the heart of the old medina, right above the Grand Café Central, offers unique access to the city's vibrant atmosphere. However, we understand that it may come with some noise. We also recommend guests who are sensitive to noise to let us know in advance, so we can do our best to assign a quieter room whenever possible. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future!

Verified reviewThe only good thing about Hotel Mauritania is its central location and the nearby beach, which is nice.
The location of Hotel Mauritania is great — it’s right in the heart of Tangier and close to many attractions. However, our overall experience was very disappointing. We stayed during the summer, and it was extremely hot. Unfortunately, the hotel has no air conditioning or even fans in the rooms. It was impossible to sleep because of the heat. On top of that, the noise from outside continued all night — people talking loudly in the street made it even harder to rest. The hotel also lacks basic amenities. They provided very limited shampoo and soap, and there was no lift/elevator, which was very inconvenient, especially if you have heavy luggage or mobility issues. Sadly, we didn’t get any proper sleep during our stay, and we expected more comfort for the price. I would not recommend this hotel, especially during the summer months.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re pleased to hear that you appreciated our central location in the heart of Tangier and the proximity to the beach. We’re sorry to hear that certain aspects of your visit did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to kindly note that, as clearly stated at the time of booking, our hotel does not include air conditioning, fans, or an elevator among its facilities. Regarding luggage or any other needs, our reception team is available 24/7 and always ready to assist. We encourage guests to reach out to us during their stay so we can help resolve any issues promptly and make their experience as comfortable as possible. As for the noise you mentioned, it is true that being located in the very center of the city means there is more activity in the surrounding area, especially during the summer months. While this can sometimes result in a livelier atmosphere, it is also what gives our hotel its unique charm and direct access to the vibrant life of Tangier. Warm regards, Hotel Mauritania

Verified reviewThe hotel had a good location in terms that you can easy to walk around and to many sight seeing places. The staff was very friendly. The room overall seemed clean.
Although the hotel had a nice location, it is situated in the middle of the medina and it was very loud, so sleeping at night wasn't amazing. The wifi did not work at all for us. They don't have their own parking, so you can't get there by car, but there are lots of paid parking around. So you could park and walk to the hotel. The rooms were overall clean, but still gave you the feeling that its dirty. The window curtains were torn. Overall you get what you are paying for (low rate, don't expect too much).
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're pleased to hear that you appreciated our central location, friendly staff, and overall cleanliness. As the hotel is located in the heart of the medina — a vibrant, pedestrian-only area — it offers easy access to many attractions, but this central location can also mean some noise. Please note that while the hotel is not accessible by car, there are several secure private parking areas just a short walk away. We also appreciate your comments and will use your input to help us improve. Best regards, Hotel Mauritania

Verified reviewWiFi was decent and the roof top had really nice views
No air con, nor even a fan in a very hot environment, extremely noisy either from the building itself or coming from the street. Staff doesn’t even speak English, communication rendering really difficult
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are glad you appreciated the WiFi and the rooftop views. Please note that air conditioning and fans are not part of our hotel’s amenities, as clearly indicated on our Booking page. Regarding the noise, due to our central location, some city sounds are inevitable. We understand that this may be inconvenient, but living in a vibrant city environment means balancing accessibility with some noise. We appreciate your comments and hope to welcome you again in better conditions. Kind regards, Hotel Mauritania

Verified review服务The service was really good, but the infrastructure was too poor. In the old town, it's understandable that there's no elevator, but there was no air conditioning, bathroom exhaust fan, or mosquito screen. When you were hot and wanted to open the window to get some fresh air, mosquitoes, bugs, and outside noise would come in. But if you closed the window, it would be very stuffy. However, the service staff were really nice, which is why I stayed here for two nights. But I probably won't stay here again when I come to Tangier in the future.

Verified reviewThe place is very close to the old city The windows has an old city view (if you like watching people looking from the windows)
- the recipient ask for extra tax (i dont know why) - parking is a nightmare there, if you have a lot of packages its a problem - crowded if you used to sleep in calm places you will face a problem .
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed our central location and the views of the old town from the windows. Regarding the additional charge you mentioned, please note that it is the tourist tax mandated by the Moroccan government, which is 5 MAD per person, per night. This tax is not included in the amount paid through Booking.com and is collected upon arrival. As for parking, while our hotel is located in the city center, a private parking facility is available nearby, and our team is always happy to assist with directions or parking arrangements. Lastly, we understand that our central location may come with some city noise, which can be a consideration for light sleepers. However, this also means our guests enjoy close access to the main attractions and vibrant atmosphere of the city. We truly appreciate your visit and hope to welcome you again in the future. Warm regards, Hotel Mauritania

We had to look for another place at 2am because the room was dirty, extremely hot and BED BUGS on the bed and walls. We were willing to stay but bed bugs are a deal breaker. The receptionist was apologetic but didn’t offer a refund.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re pleased to hear that our team was helpful and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your stay.
