Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAs everyone has referenced, it really is a cave. We stayed for two nights in a July heatwave, and it was cool and comfortable with a good night's sleep. The cave is kept as a traditional berber home and feels like a museum with lots of traditional tools, artifacts, etc. It's surprisingly big and even upstairs. Situated in the centre of the village, so a true feel of village life with the call for prayers. We stayed on a Wednesday, and the village had a large local market fruit veg meat clothes. Everything was loverly and completely safe to walk around and experience.

CanadaThe downstairs room had a heater, and on further reflection, we should have asked for one upstairs as well.
A surprisingly spacious place built into the caves! 2 sitting areas, a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms with a full bed in each will another 3 beds outside of the rooms. The place felt like a museum with collections of tea sets, art, home and kitchen items. If you are up for a non-typical experience, this place is for you. We were awed. If you’re looking for a 5 star airy Riad, pay it a visit, but stay elsewhere. Lots of warm heavy blankets available for the chilly evenings.

United StatesThis is a cavern carved out of rock and our visit was in winter time, so despite the small heaters, it remained rather cold and damp feeling. There were plenty of extra warm blankets to keep us warm in bed, though.
Thami and his wife were wonderful hosts. Because the grotte is a bit difficult to find, Thami met us in town in his car and led us to the parking area near the grotte. We were arriving at dinner time, so Thami offered to provide dinner for us so we didn't have to find a restaurant. His wife and her friend cooked and served us a delicious Moroccan dinner--in their own grotte home. Afterwards he led us to the grotte apartment which easily slept 3 couples. The grotte is totally unique, and it's full of interesting antiques which adds to the atmosphere. It's located in an ancient city carved into a hillside and we had a wonderful time exploring the town on foot.

SingaporeThe bathroom and toilet is small. No clothing hanging hooks or racks.
We spent 2 nights at Grotte Thami. The whole cave house was given to 3 of us. The upper floor has 4 beds and the lower floor has 1 bedroom and a big living area. Bathroom and toilet are located on the lower floor. The entire cave is decorated with Moroccan paraphernalia. Mr Thami was a very good host. He attended to our every request and showed us to some places we wanted to visit. Staying in the cave house was a very unique experience. We loved that it's off the beaten track and we didn't see other tourists.

The cute village with nice people. Helpful and attentive host. Atypical experience. Breakfast. From the outside the cave looks like a modest house and then when you go in, you discover the cave.

I had never slept in a cave before. It was a great experience. Very cosy, quiet, clean. Even on a hot day, the grotte was cool and comfortable. Thami and his wife Habiba were wonderful hosts. Highly recommend.

CanadaThis cave accommodation was beautifully decorated and surprisingly comfy! Thami has an artistic eye and it definitely shows when entering the property. The hospitality from Thami and his wife was amazing and they really made us feel welcomed into the home. The cooking was plentiful and tasty, every meal we were being spoiled. This is a real hidden gem of Morocco and a great authentic experience. Thanks Thami!!

SpainBeautiful cave house with amazing decoration- could look at all the rugs and ceramics and paintings forever! The hosts were really friendly and helpful, I don’t speak French but still they managed to communicate with me. It had a really nice communal feeling, as another family was staying and we had a delicious dinner and breakfast together and played cards! Highly recommend :)

United KingdomWhat a unique experience, truly local! Unfortunately we spoke very lityle French, Thami did his very best to explain to us. He collected us from town and walked us to our accommodation. Decor is beautifully eclectic. The blankets he provided were a lifesaver, it got quite cool in the evening. An unforgettable stay!

AustraliaA bit difficult to find, we didn't have our cell phone working, make sure you can call them, as they meet and greet and take you in. We struggled but we should have had the phone working, there are signs in the streets with the hotel number on. They really expect you to call. Make sure you have the number. There are other hotels with similar names also, who due to language barriers we almost stayed at the wrong one, but he made us tea and cakes, we gave him 50dm. You sometimes ger told off for walking into entrances that are not the right place :).
It authentic and in a cave, the host was lovely, very comfortable and spacious, we took the large downstairs room. Wifi excellent. The local cafe was full of very friendly people, they might not look it at times, but they are just lovely and friendly, and they know the someone who speaks English if you don't speak French.

United KingdomThe only thing we didn’t enjoy is the lack of heating, it was a bit cold at night.
Thami is probably the best host we have encountered on our 10 day journey across Morocco. He is full of knowledge which he is keen to share, he really looked after us (we arrived late during Ramadan and the restaurants were closed so he eventually turned up with the best tajine we had during our stay!). The place is beautiful and full of character and history, it genuinely feels like you are staying at someone’s house. We ended our journey there and it was the best way to finish this magical holiday. You should definitely visit Bhalil if you’re in Morocco!

United StatesThami and his family are very lovely kind people and were quite helpful. The cave is ecletically decorated. It would be a wonderfully cool and welcome retreat in warmer weather, but was a little cold during our stay in February. It's a unique experience though, to stay in one of the traditional local caves.

FranceWow, staying in a grotto! This was very different to all the other accommodation we had during our travels, a great experience! The grotto is beautifully decorated in traditional style with a lot of attention to detail. It has 3 bedrooms, a portable heater, comfortable beds with lots of blankets, internet, hot water. The owner is very friendly. We went for a walk in the village which was also interesting and people were friendly.

SpainWe had a wonderful time in Grotte Thami. The cave is really nice and clean. It was winter and I thought it was going to be colder in the cave but we weren't cold. Thami , the owner, is a very nice guy. He will help you to find whatever you need. He found an English speaking guide for us. In the evening, he took us to a local place where we could eat a very nice beef sandwich. The next day, we had a wonderful breakfast in another cave. it was prepared by his wife. So, let him know what you need and he will help you.
