How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewScenic views on terrace, rooms were well kept with AC available for hot summers. Breakfast was of a good standard and people in charge were hospitable. Fairly close to the shops and main centre.
Not a slight on the hotel but chefchouen lacks a lot of money exchange facilities so make sure you bring cash with you from other main cities and it is hard to hail a taxi when needed as it is not a main town. Nonetheless the hotel was very good. Afshour nearby is a very good day trip and very scenic.

Verified reviewSo many things. Firstly the location. No one told us that there was an entrance at the top of the hill we could be dropped by taxi. No one was available to assist us with our luggage even when we were a few metres from the door. It looked nothing like the photos. The air-conditioning did not work in either room we looked at. It always felt dirty. (There were hair ties in the sink). Hot water only just lasted 4 minutes. Breakfast was just bread and a few olives.

Verified reviewThe location was great. Especially if you had luggage it’s into far from the taxi spot. The view from the rooftop was beautiful. And the staff were extremely kind and helpful
A bit of a smell in the bathroom pipes.

Verified reviewThe rooms looked very nice and their aesthetic matched everything so well. Breakfast was amazing too. So much food and all VERY good! Staff extremely friendly as well.
Although you cannot change that, the location was a bit hard to manage, especially with dragging a 10kg suitcase up the mountain.

Verified reviewThe view of the city from the room was gorgeous, and the room was cute and blue. It was a decent sized bedroom! The upstairs restaurant area was beautiful and I enjoyed having a meal up there. The staff were lovely and accommodating to my requests.
The rooster that lives next door was making a lot of noise and I was worried it would wake me up super early...and it did! The front door was always locked and each time I was outside knocking to come in it would take a really long time for anyone to come (I had to knock a few times and was left waiting 5-10 minutes most occasions)

Verified reviewThe staff is the nicest and super helpful (and their accent when speaking Arabic is just music to the ears :)). amazing view from the rooftop.
You need to be super fit to get around in the center of Chefchaouen. But that has nothing to do with the hotel.

Verified reviewFabulous views (as expected) from my room & the 2 rooftop terraces. Great location at the higher north side of the medina so sweeping views of Chefchaouen, the valley & the mountains. This area is also quieter as away from the tourist bustle. Easy walk down to Av Hassan 1 (the main east-west medina thoroughfare) or down to the plaza & kasbah. Surprisingly easy to get to - go to Bab Sidi Bouchouka by taxi or car, turn left immediately inside this medina entrance, follow the path along the wall for about 60m then follow this path which turns right downhill & it's about 50m down the hill on your right. Taxi drivers at the bus station seem to know it well. Rida, the manager was very switched on, hospitable & helpful. His English is excellent. There is a lot to see round every corner, especially if you like photography. I recommend the short hike up to the Spanish Mosque for fabulous views of Chefchaouen with peace & quiet. Go in the morning for the best light on Chefchaouen.
Not much. My room was next to the restaurant & under the upper roof terrace so could be a little noisy, especially with chair scraping. This was compensated by the great views from the room. Breakfast could be a bit more balanced with juice, fruit & eggs. Too much carbohydrate with pastries & bread.
