Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI think the property could do better on cleanliness and having things in order ahead of time like just having the room ready with all the necessary stuff and making sure the property is not over booked and guests find some one already waiting for them when they arrive .
The host was nice he tried to fix everything I complained about. He also went out of his way to help me with every request I had and accepted feedback very well. On my last night I had to travel out to another city so I did not sleep at the property when I came back to Marrakesh even if my stay was over he allowed me to come and have a shower and sleep for a few hours before going to the airport that was really kind of. During my stays one of the days I was sick and didn’t come out of my room the host checked on me and asked if I needed anything that was soo kind of him.

NorwayDirty uncomfortable and cramped, the walls are falling apart, its moldy and you can hear your neighbors like they were inside with you.
The placement is very good in the middle of the Medina.

ItalyWhen my partner and I got there, even though we provided them an estimated arrival time, no one was around to check us in. We ended up having to find our keys in the key-box on our own. And to make matters worse, the room wasn't cleaned properly, and we even found a stinky sock in the wardrobe. The wifi did not always work, and the bed blankets were uncomfortable, possibly unclean. The real kicker was on our last night when, out of the blue at 11 pm, someone knocked on our door asking for €20 for city tax. Overall, not the smoothest experience.
The location in Medina near the central square Jemaa el-Fnaa.

IrelandThey advertised that you have your own bathroom, but it was shared. It wasn't in the city center. It was very near the airport. They didn't inform the customer ahead on time that they were having room renovation. There was no hot water in a shower. There's nothing in the surrounding area. It is family house, just so you know.
Friendly couple, I suppose they have too because they are running the business.

MalaysiaThe property should have a reception desk available for guests. If visitors arrive without internet access, they may face difficulties contacting the owner and entering the property, as they will not have the key. The owner should always be present or readily accessible once a guest has informed them of their arrival. The cleanliness of the small room and the internet connection need improvement. The owner should address these issues. Additionally, the large room was undergoing construction during my stay. However, the room itself was adequate and decent for sleeping.
The location is strategically situated in the heart of the ancient Medina. I originally booked a small room for two nights, but the owner kindly upgraded me to a larger room with a double bed. The owner was incredibly helpful and attentive, always checking in to ensure that I was comfortable during my stay.

United KingdomImprovements can be made in communication, especially before the trip to reduce misunderstandings. The staff is eager to improve. Clear communication is the key.
Simo is an excellent host who goes out of his way to understand your needs and assist you in any way possible. Imeme, who works at the riad, is also fantastic. She is very friendly and provides valuable advice on making the most of your time in Marrakesh, including tips on visiting places and buying things.

United KingdomI didn't even spend a night here and instead had to spend a lot of money that I didn't intend to, to stay in another place. I paid for a double room with a private bathroom and shower but instead received a tiny single room that stank of cigar smoke, with filthy bedding and nothing else in it other than the bed. There was also no way to lock my bedroom door and it felt incredibly insecure seeing as the front door was wide open for the hour or so I sat thinking what to do. The shower I was meant to use had no shower head. It's clear that this place is banking on people not wanting to stay so they can put the room back on the market and double their money. This happened as someone else who stayed there just one night said there was another guest in the room. Booking.com really need to blacklist this place.
The location of the place is its only good aspect. There's nothing else.

United KingdomAMAZING, very typical and immersive Riad, nice and clean, confortable and warm, and Simo is a great host !! We will keep beautiful memories of this travel. We stayed in Simo’s Riad for a few days, early December, and Simo became a friend, he was a great host and very helpful during our stay in Marrakech. Simo actually has two hotels, one is located just near the airport, “Dar Sarsar Airport”, and the other one, “Dar Sarsar Artistic Music”, is located right inside the Medina, which is amazing if you’re walking, the location is perfect to visit Marrakech properly. Simo has been amazing with us, very available and reliable, we spoke on the phone before we left England. When we arrived he found a bottle of wine for us, no matter what you need, Simo can help you. He even drove us back to the airport, and the day before he drove us to the Agafay desert and came to pick us up on the next day, for a very friendly price. The Riad in the Medina is a very typical house with a beautiful open patio, all the rooms are accessible from the patio. It is located in a very secure place, you can lock the door with a padlock, but it’s perfectly safe anyway. The room was really nice and the price was very reasonable, little kitchen if needed, private shower, toilet and bathroom in our room with lovely warm water. It is a typical Medina house so it is very immersive, nice and warm room, confortable bed and thick mattress, with a cupboard for your clothes and a table with chair if you need to work. I could only recommend it, we were very glad to choose this Riad, and to be fair we can’t wait to go back !!! ADVICE : Google maps won’t be your best friend on this trip, so I advice you download an ‘offline map’ of Marrakech on Google map, with the hotel’s wifi, because you can get lost quite quickly ;) Always go in the direction of ‘Rue Azbezt’ and you’ll find the Riad.

JapanThe riad owner is very friendly and full of hospitality, and he supports all what you need. When you first visit the riad, you may have a little difficulty to find the place because Medina is like a maze. If that's the case, it's located right behind the Riad Karmela (4 star hotel). You can check the location on the map and get the direction there easily. Once you find the Riad Karmela, Dar Sarsar is literally right behind there. Also, this means the security is great here. The security person is right there 24/7. And the location is perfect and close to everywhere you want to explore when you are in Marrakech. You cannot really find the room like this especially with this price range in such a great location. Since the tiles and walls are newly replaced few weeks ago from now (Sep/2023), you can enjoy the extra clean but still traditional Moroccan architecture style. To see and to actually live in the traditional artisan work is something you cannot experience in a high-end hotel. You can enjoy not just being the hotel guest like in any other places, but feeling the home. As for the cleanness of the place, some people may find it the level of the cleanness is different, depending on where you are from. For me, as a Japanese, where everything is super organized and all is crazy neat/clean/sanitized, it was different. It doesn't mean the place is not clean. It's just the concept of the cleanness is different. But if you find the difference is uncomfortable, you can ask the owner to clean the room. (To me, it was just comfortable as it is though.) He is very open to your requests and the staff will take care of them right away. And the great thing is the owner has a great personality that the guest can easily ask what you want. He always cares if you are happy with everything he can provide. I booked the room for 1 week first, and I was thinking if it wasn't nice I could change the place after 1 week.

The hospitality is unmatched! When we arrived a woman started making tea for us. The location is good close to the center and the markets yet quite. The place is beautiful and feels homely, cosy. It is also artistic, we painted and left behind art. The host really encourages creativity in the space.

United KingdomMy stay here was very good. I was picked up from the airport, and the owners family treated me like one of their own. I lost medication, the owner happily took me to doctor, also translated for me. The most genuine people run this hotel, I can't thank them enough for making my stay comfortable. I'll be coming back to this place whenever in Marrakech
