How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe facilities were great. Spacious room, comfortable beds, and a beautiful rooftop patio. The place was difficult to find, but after having experienced Fes, every place in the Medina is probably hard to find 😅 The breakfast was subpar but it was Ramadan, so maybe that was why.

Verified reviewThe place is very beautiful, a well decorated and super cozy Riad! The owner is simply incredible, I think he's the best person I've met in Morocco so far! The shower is hot and the beds and blankets are very good! I stayed in January so it is quite cold but the blankets are still very warm! The terrace has a really cool view of the city, it's worth going up to check it out! The kitchen is well equipped and clean, we can use the refrigerator and the breakfast is really delicious!! If you are coming to Fes, I highly recommend staying at Safir, I have already traveled to more than 20 countries and at this place I had one of the best stays, for sure!!

Verified reviewThe hosts were very accommodating. They helped to organise pick up and drop off at the train station and airport, and organised a really lovely walking tour with a local guide. Breakfast was big and delicious, good location as well, and great dinner recommendations.

Verified reviewThe staff were great. The rooms were large & clean. Plenty of hot water & a good shower. Coffee on terrace & great views over Fez. Set breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice, good coffee, omelet, freshly baked bread. All in all everything we needed was on our door step.

Verified reviewFriendly enough owner but truthfully did not enjoy the location as a lone female. Dirty bathroom, 2 thin sheets to sleep, no window. The price was good value to be fair. Expect to pay tourist tax. Once you know how to get to the main street it's ok.
Dirty bathroom. Really dark/overwhelming in nearby streets after sunset if you're a lone woman. . No blankets. No window. Hard to find until you know Ask the taxi driver to drop you to to Rcif square.. Only 5 minutes from there. I had an hour of being lost in the medina, no gps and people demanding money to take me there.

Verified reviewThe private room and bathroom were a great value for the price at a 50% discount. The place is beautiful, and it was quiet and calm when I was there.
I had to wait 10 minutes outside the door at night for the host to come back after calling him, so I wish he would change the mechanism to allow for guests to enter on their own. I also was disappointed to see no tables or chairs on the rooftop... I recommend making it more comfortable and inviting up there!

Verified reviewZaki the Hostel owner/manager was an excellent host. The hostel was beautifully painted with nice Moroccan features. It was always clean and tidy and felt homely. Zaki and I since there weren’t many in the hostel cooked meals together and spent time together. Zaki helped with whatever I needed throughout my stay

Verified reviewThe owner will become your best friend
The location might be a bit difficult to handle. Nothing too bad, but just be aware that it is not in the centre of the medina and might not be for the faint-hearted to come back late at night

Verified reviewFantastic hostel, super rooms and amazing value for money. My private room was a good size, very clean and the bed was fantastic. Pillows also good. Lots of light on upper floors, very convenient on lower floors. The owner Zak is amazing, one of the most helpful people you'll encounter in Fes, ready to provide above and beyond customer service and options and assistance. It's wonderful to be in accommodation that's run by the actual owner, and one who is so responsive. His English is also fluent. The terrace is great, and the location is peaceful. A really down to earth place to stay. Really highly recommended this place.

Verified reviewThe host was super attentive during our stay...he seemed to be available anytime we had questions. Our room was spacious. Loved the terrace view and its quietness. The hostel is continued being renovating so expect even better decor and other comfort features to come. Appreciated his help with taxi negotiating a fair price with the driver. Location is excellent as its near restaurants and local fruit markets and souks. Near a centre court where locals gather and we had pleasant experience interacting with them. Overall, would stay again if wifi works (see below).
The biggest challenge was no wifi during our 3 nights but our host did offered other alternatives if needed (perhaps allow us to use his sim card, personal hotspot perhaps). We decided to use restaurant's wifi for our internet needs tho was inconvenient. Also hot water flow is inconsistent but this is likely more of a old city medina area issue.

Verified reviewPrice was very low but that was the only good thing so continue reading for the disasters.
Host sent overpriced delapidated dirty taxi with no AC bus to station who made me sit in a hot car for 15 minutes while he prayed. Then had to pay again for a cart to haul very heavy bags through winding, dark alleys. Riad is very small no windows and room is tiny dark. It was right over reception with people talking and playing music. I smelled chemicals immediately with but the owner denied it and said job was finished. But by morning morning I had a severe migraine headache and burning eyes and felt sick with this strong odor yet he still insisted they had finished a day ago. But just above me there were TWO rooms being worked on- paint and varnish and open cans of toxic chemicals everywhere in the hallway and I have photos. Then they l painted right outside my room AFTER I complained. I had to move and requested a refund. Host active like he cared and tried to help get me into another place but I don't trust him. I think it was just to avoid bad reviews because he lied to me twice about it and should have never exposed people to dangerous chemicals in a tiny area with no air. And I could have gotten a clean air conditioned taxi on my own for much cheaper. He said he would have someone make me breakfast and she didn't show up and I brought two meals from a restaurant the night before that he said I could put in the refrigerator but he put them in the freezer and destroyed them. As soon as I could find another place I left the next day but again I had to pay someone to drag my bags out and then pay a taxi to the next hotel so I still lost the 2 euros a day taxes and being charged for 2 days though slept there one night, plus having to pay double the price at another room on short notice. It was very stressful and wasted a lot of my time in Fes. I found a beautiful quiet place right on the main road that was big and had a restaurant and provided breakfast for a very reasonable price. And the staff were amazing!
