Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe dorm was near the door and street so slightly noisier, but with earplugs I had no problems.
Very central in the Medina. Car can’t access but can get pretty close. My flight arrived late so I asked for an airport transfer and it was easily arranged, the driver was very nice and friendly and helped me to the door even though it was super late. The place was nice with a beautiful terrace. Breakfast included was plentiful.

AustriaIt was very noisy during the night, around midnight a huge noise woke me up, very strange. I had to use earplugs, but so far everywhere in Morocco, so not the hostels fault.
This hostel is super nice, the people working there are the best, so helpful and open, I learned a lot about Moroccon culture from them. The location is right in the medina, you can walk from the port in 15min. The breakfast is amazing, all vegetarian :)

NetherlandsThere was no fan or airconditioning in my room. For me it wasn't that bad because the weather wasn't super hot yet (around 20-23 degrees at night). But i can imagine it not being nice in the summer heat. The showers were shared, which was completely fine. But there was quite a bit of mold in the showers, which is unfortunate. Besides the mold it was clean and kept clean by the staff daily.
The staff were absolutely amazing! They were super helpful and would help you with anything and everything. They give amazing tips on where to go and how to get there. The location was great. In the old Madina close to the souks, everything is within walking distance. If I go back to Tanger i am definitely staying here again.

New ZealandUnfortunately the roof social areas are right outside the rooms and so unthoughtful guests and staff can make it too noisy to sleep. I had to ask guests to keep the noise down at 1am, yet staff had not asked them to do so, even though they were close by!
Simple accommodation with hardish beds ( that I liked) with nice rooftop places to sit out and a kitchen to make a drink or simple meal. Good value for simple accommodation in the city

ItalyUnfortunately breakfast starts at 9 and we should leave earlier, we weren't offered a take away solution even if breakfast was included, i suggest to give the possibility of a take away box that would help in case of early flight. The picture of the terrace on the sea is of another building in front of the property. The alley is narrow and a bit dark, at evening some unfriendly guys (but of course it's not the property's fault). I suggest a signal with the name of the hostel at the door
Dormitory is ok, 4 bunk beds in the female dorm, with socket beside your bed; 3 restrooms in the property, comfortable and clean; good common areas (rooftop, terrace and a porch) with excellent wifi. Staff was friendly (i met Mohassine and a german volunteer)

United StatesThere were sometimes staff members/volunteers who were a little unfriendly, also there are no lockers for your things, but thankfully security was never an issue for me.
Comfy and easy for a one-night stay, they provided soap and shampoo in the bathrooms and you get a free towel, increasingly rare nowadays. Staff was mostly very friendly. Anastasia was especially great!

SpainThe share dormitories are quite old and when you open and close them make a lot of noise, which wakes up everyone. The beds also make some noise, but the main problem are the doors. Maybe they could put more facilities on the shower, like something where you can place your soaps (some people does brings their own), a place where to place your clothes…
The stuff and the ambient. All of them are very familiar and the hostel is not a "disciplined" one. If you need to check in or check out later there wont be any problem for them. Even when the time of breakfast is ended, Mouna will surely offer you a coffee.

Very friendly hostel, welcoming, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, great breakfast, clean. The location is ideal, about five minutes walk from the Petit Soco on the edge of the medina. This was my second time in Dar Gara and I would stay here again if I was in Tangier.
