This hostel is right in front of the beach and you can use bodyboards, surfboards etc free of charge from here. When I arrived there was work being done in the dorm I had booked, so the owner very kindly gave me a private room for the first 2 nights. The rooms are kept very clean and are very comfortable. Deedee, the owner is a wonderfully warm and friendly person is constantly making sure that everybody has what they need. There is tea and coffee and snacks around most times of the day.

I faced some difficulties in moving to Asilah and other beaches: I was travelling alone without a car, and transportation is not so easy. You can find some shared taxi/van if you walk to the main road, but you have to wait, sometimes a while, and taxi ask you between 5/15 euro per ride during the day, and 10/20 euro in the night. The hostel staff helped me providing the number of a trustful taxi, but anyway you can face difficulties if you want to spend the evening in Asilah.

I did like the availability and support offered by the manager Didi. The place is really close to a beach and is good to relax and take a break. The breakfast was wonderful!

With just getting started there’s some miner improvements that can be made but you can tell that Dede is excited to improve!

The first moment I got off at the train station Dede was incredible, my taxi driver only took me half way and just dumped me on the street. I gave Dede a call and she sent me the directions and checked in on me until I arrived! Once getting to der el pirata I felt at home, I only stayed one night but gosh I wish I could book a whole week! I was truly treated like family and I couldn’t have asked for a better place/host to spend my final days in Morocco.

Stepping into this place, you immediately feel at home far away from home, it's nothing like a regular hostel. The atmosphere is fantastic, and Deedee is so welcoming, she has a real ability to make you feel like family. The location is unbeatable, the beach just a stone's throw away which means you'll never miss the key moments of the sun. It was for real an experience that exceeded all my expectations ! 💙

Everything was terrible. It was as dirty as the hostels you see in horror movies, with bugs everywhere, animals everywhere.It's a facility that shouldn't be licensed to be open to the public. If you look at my profile, I often stay in hostels, but I've never had a terrible experience like this.It's terribly hot, and the room where we sleep has no windows (just a tiny opening) and no air conditioning. Not even fans, nothing.I preferred sleeping outside among the animals than sleeping inside in the heat and stagnant air. Avoid this place!

The only thing, really the only thing, is the location. You practically walk out of the building and you're on the beach.

The house was gorgeous and incredibly peaceful. Just a road across the beach, and the town of Briyach is not too far out of Asilah. DeeDee is an exceptional host always doing the utmost to make Dar el Pirata feel like your home. If what you’re looking for is a down to earth, simple and relaxing stay in asilah, this home and its people in it are your best bet.

Be Careful they're real pirates ! Nothing to do with the description and pictures. The place was so dirty and horrible. The bathroom lacks hygiene and shower has no door. The host wasn't there, the place was so miserable we couldn't spend one night in it. We packed our luggage and left. We also found another family who did the same and left as soon as they could. Worst booking in our lives. Run away if you can !

There was nothing that I did not like

The owner of the hostel was there to personally show me around. Also she took the time to sit and drink tea with her guests to get to know them. The hostel is rustic and very charming. A great vibe from the moment I arrived. The staff could not do enough for you The food was amazing.. and coffee and tea was always available. Bonus the beach is only 100 meters away. I very highly recommend coming to stay if like me you are a wondering traveler...
