How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe riad Manager, Brahim, was an excellent host. He welcomed us with mint tea, upgraded us to bigger rooms and provided information about restaurants and activities in the area. What a beautiful building with traditional and exquisite Moroccan design and details. Room was very comfortable, breakfast was great and Brahim was excellent! I feel like we made a friend there and I'll be sure to stay again when I'm in Fes.

Verified reviewIbrahim is an EXCELLENT host! I arrived after midnight, so he met me on the street and walked me to the dar, which is absolutely beautiful and very clean. Even though I was his only guest, he gave me a tour of all floors, the WIFi password, explained about breakfas,t, offered me tea and upgraded me to a larger room! 5-star service! The surrounding area is picturesque, the room very comfortable, and there was no noise at all throughout the night. I highly recommend staying at this fine location with this super host.
I liked everything.

Verified reviewMy stay at Dar Bab Guissa was the most disappointing hotel experience of my life. There was a significant discrepancy between the booking score, the photos on the hotel website, and the actual condition of the hotel. Contrary to their claims, there was no iron or hair dryer in the room, and instead, there was an unpleasant sewage smell.
It was late at night when we arrived at the hotel for our 8-night stay, and we quickly realized that we had been misled. The two rooms we received did not match the photos on the website. There was no iron or hair dryer, the rooms were dirty, and there was a strong smell of sewage in my room. I informed the staff that I did not want to stay, but they told me that the fee for the 8 nights would not be refunded, despite the significant differences between the photos and the actual room. They also mentioned that we could leave the hotel if we wished. In the morning, my colleague and I decided to leave the hotel, yet they refused to refund our money. I have been using booking websites for over 20 years, and this was the worst experience I have ever had. Please carefully check the comments on the Booking website about this hotel. Then, you will notice that most of the reviews come from people in Morocco. Additionally, please look at the photos of the hotel's two rooms where we had to stay for less than a day but had to pay for 8 nights.

Verified reviewI got the kind heartwarming service by Ibrahim! He provided herb tea and kindly explained about the Fez area on the first day. He is the best! : ) My first trip in Morocco was enjoyable because of his kindness. Thanks a lot. I will never forget your kindness.

Verified reviewThe house is beautiful, particularly the courtyard. Ibrahim (our host) was kind, helpful, pleasant to talk to, and went out of his way to make sure we had all we needed. It was a nice place to come back to, to relax after the tumult of the Medina.
The bed in our room was so hard, I awoke with pain in my ribs, hips, and spine. Sleep felt like a penance.

Verified reviewI was with the family and we were all alone in the Riad and it was very quite. It is a peacefull and quite part of medina. This riad is very close to Guissa gate. The breakfast was not big, but it was tasty.
The door lock was broken and we hardly lock the apartments door. Some glasses was broken in two apartments.

Verified reviewIbrahim's attitude, courtesy and help (he makes this place better by his presence). Also this atmosphere and vibe. And it was easy to find it (it's located not so far from the exit). Good value for money
It was easy to find it, yeah, but it's also located far away from all the popular places (such an industrial district of Medina)

Verified reviewIt is a nice Riad for the price, so it is good if you know what you are expecting. We had the family room, which gave us a nice amount of room (a couple and young adult son). I would say it is equivalent to a 3 star hotel in the U.S. There is no room service or services outside of breakfast. You can call Ibrahim, the property manager, for tea during the day. If you want to eat at the Riad, you need to arrange before hand. Ibrahim is very kind and helpful. The location is good with easy access to parking (very important for us coming by car!)
The shower as there is no curtain so the entire bathroom gets wet after someone showers. The toilet seat in our room was also off. Also not having access to a kitchen throughout the day. If these were fixed, the experience would have been much better.

Verified reviewGreat location, the gates where you can take a taxi 1 min of walking from the Riad. 10 min to the main attractions, Blue Gates ,market ect. In addition the host guy Ibrahim was very helpful, knowledgeable and sometimes when it's dark he would meet me in medina and walk with me to the Riad as long as it's easy to get lost. I definitely get back there again .
