Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

This was our favourite place we stayed in Sri Lanka. Beautiful location amongst rice fields and nature, as well as being close to National Parks and the ocean! The rooms were clean and comfortable with nice seating outdoors to relax. Shantha, the host was such a legend! A real genuine guy who was great to talk to and to be around. He showed us so many different birds, wildlife and his plants in his garden. We decided to eat there both nights as the dinners that he cooked for us were delicious - fresh fish or calamari with salad or vegetables and rice. Cooked perfectly and even had a few Lion beers to go with it. He went out of his way to go and get some buffalo curd and coconut honey which was also delicious! Would really recommend this to everyone and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

AustriaChante is the best host and a very kind and lovely man. He showed us around the real nature of Sri Lanka. We were really lucky because we saw some birds, a waran and even a crocodile! He cooked the best fish for us. His garden with all the spices is very comfortable and relaxing. The room itself is good for the low budget price. Thank you for this nice stay!

GermanyVery nice and simple accommodation in the middle of nature. Great host who prepares delicious food in the evenings and mornings and teaches you a lot about nature and the animals that live there. If you are looking for some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle, this is the place for you! A safari etc. can also be organized from there (Yala & Bundala Nationalpark are nearby) We can warmly recommend this accommodation!

United KingdomIt is in a remote spot which was fantastic for us as it was great to be in nature. However, it's fairly easy to get a tuktuk there
The host was excellent and spent time taking us out into the paddy fields to spot local wildlife including crocodiles, monitor lizards and local birds. He's also an amazing cook!

AustraliaNothing it was very pleasant & peaceful
This is one of the nicest home stay/guest house we have stayed in Sri Lanka. It’s very different, with rice fields around. The gardens are lovely & peaceful. The unit is very well presented and it a bit different. The host, Shantha is very obliging with food. We stayed there while doing a safari at Yala National Park & it was close enough to enjoy the surroundings. We highly recommend Yaye Guest House

IndiaNo lunch options here. No eateries around the property, bu t i think that is expected as its near to the national park.
The guest house is great. Small and cozy. Super green around, it has jungle vibe to it. Highly recommended. We also had dinner here, which was super delicious srilankan food. Aircon in the room was powerful. The host was also super fun to hang out with. Only book this if you are going for a safari in Yala national park.

NetherlandsEverything was great.
The host was so warm and welcoming. He took us with him for a walk near his house to see crocodiles (we saw 3 crocodiles) he prepared amazing smoothies for us and showed all the little birds, bats and monkeys to us in his garden. And he all did that for free. He prepared diner for us with ingredients from his local farmers or his own garden, which tasted amazing. After one day we had to leave unfortunaltely for which we were both really sad since we really would like to have stayed longer. I cannot express in words how much I would recommend this place to anyone. I for sure would really like to come back here.

SloveniaA bit out of the way, but not a problem as we had our own Tuk tuk. Don’t let this discourage you. The host is great and can help you organize everything. You could easily book transport on PickMe.
Parking available for the Tuk-Tuk we rented. Nice owner, who cooked for us and organized a safari. He took us to a Buddhist monastery and drove around with us to show us some animals. AC in the room. Soap in bathroom. It was clean. Breakfast was tasty. The owner really tries hard for people to feel comfortable.

PortugalHere we found a great peaceful place between the rice fields. It's really close to Bundala National Park and we even visited the outside part with Shanta, our amazing host, who showed us a lot of wildlife close to the park and inside his garden. He cooked amazing food (breakfast, dinner and lunch)! The AC was working nice.

GermanyNothing to complain just a side note: the guest house really is in the middle of nowhere surrounded by fields and nature. If you are into that, you will love it, if you rather have a town close to you with shops and bars and restaurants maybe consider something else.
We LOVED our stay at the Yaye guesthouse. The garden and rooms are exactly like in the pictures. You are in a green oasis surrounded by rice fields. One room comes with AC the other one without. You get breakfast and dinner if you like. There are books, a hammock and lounge chairs for the garden. We even were satisfied with the bread :-) Wifi works perfect and you can book a safari right on the spot. But(!) you won't be sharing your jeep, it will be just you.

SwedenI should have booked the Yala safari from somewhere else, so I could have shared the jeep with others since I was travelling solo. If your top priority is comfort, then you should probably choose to stay somewhere else for a slightly higher price.
If you're looking for an authentic experience, this is the place to be! Located in the middle of the paddy field, you'll get a welcomed resort from traffic noise and urban pulse. The host will truly take care of you, and he cooks the most delicious meals! He will probably take you on a walk on the fields, looking for crocodiles, and chatting with local farmers. This gives so much more value than ordinary accommodations.

Yaye Guesthouse to us was an uxepected gem. Inmidst rice paddies and coconut trees and it is a perfect place to escape the hustle of the crowded tourist destinations. It has very nice garden and plenty of common area to hang out and relax and within one step you are out in nature and a small scale pristine rural neighbourhood. The room was comfy and the mattress great! Shanta is a very kind and caring host and knowledgeable throughout his garden and the area. He knows where to find crocodiles and what time the elefants are crossing the river to get to Bundala NP. Yaye Guesthouse offers a real and unique experience and be sure to start everyday with a proper and delicious Breakfast! :)
