Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We recently visited Yala Village Eco Tree House with my mother and husband, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The owners, together with his wife, are extremely kind, caring, and attentive. They made us feel so welcome and treated us with the utmost respect and hospitality. The place itself is beautiful, peaceful, and very close to nature – a perfect spot to relax and enjoy. Everything was well organized, and we felt very comfortable throughout our stay. I highly recommend Yala Village Eco Tree House to anyone who wishes to have an unforgettable and relaxing experience in a natural and friendly environment. We are truly grateful for the warm hospitality and can’t wait to visit again!

AustriaI stayed with Jula and his family for two nights and they were simply lovely. The tree house is located a bit outside of Tissa, so one can enjoy nature and its tranquility. Whenever I needed help, Jula was there. The accommodation is not luxurious, but if it is nature and and a small adventure you are looking for, this is the place for you. They also have an open shower so you can watch the stars while rinsing off.

United Arab EmiratesAs expected, there was presence of some bugs, mostly beetles. The nets on the bed were keeping most of them out of bed. Dogs barking in the neighborhood were disturbing the sleep. There were common bathroom on the ground though we were the only ones staying that night so it was okay.
A unique experience. The house was nicely built though the stairs were a bit difficult to climb. With trees all around, it gave a true nature feel with different sounds. Early morning we could hear birds chirping and peacocks howling. We could also peacocks and few bird species sitting on the trees around us. The owner Jula was really nice and helpful.

GermanyThis is an eco village, so there’s no air conditioning—just fans—and the houses have open vents for natural airflow. As long as you’re careful with the mosquito nets, you should be able to keep mosquitoes, bugs, lizards, and other critters out.
I had the most enchanting stay at this place, nestled in lush greenery and surrounded by lovely birds. The tree house truly felt like a fairytale escape! The mud houses (with mosquito‑netted beds, which are much needed!) and hammocks swaying among the branches, offered a cozy, magical vibe. The charming family who runs the lodge welcomed me like one of their own, and the little ones’ cheerful greetings in the morning were absolutely heartwarming. :) They went above and beyond—arranging safari adventures at great value, fixing anything I needed, and even going shopping in heavy rain to make me a homemade dinner when I arrived late and hungry. If you’re seeking a warm, authentic, and storybook-like experience in the heart of Sri Lanka’s nature, this is the place to be!

We had an amazing stay! The team was incredibly accommodating and generous—surprising us with a free upgrade and always ready to help, even with last-minute requests like organizing a safari and a fishing trip. The food was delicious, and Jula, who manages the house, was both precise and friendly. Dimuthu and his family were attentive and always willing to go the extra mile to meet our needs. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing and well-organized getaway.

GermanyIt’s in the middle of nature, very calm and peaceful with only the sound of birds to hear. The best thing was the family. The hostel owner is super nice and helpful with any kind of little problem or question! I would 100% recommend it, I have rarely experienced such kindness without wanting anything in return! Also his little girl is the cutest!!

PolandLove it, love it, love it! Our hosts were a lovely family, very kind and helpful - they were very flexible with our check in and check out, organised a safari trip for us and helped us in getting dinner. The experience is totally recommended, however beware that it’s out in the nature, so you get really immersed in it, there might be some bugs in your room when you wake up ;) no worries though, each bed is equipped with a mosquito net, so you can sleep peacefully with sounds of nature.

United KingdomThe property is a peaceful and unique set up in the most wonderful and quiet place. Our room was spacious with mosquito nets and the facilities such as the toilets and shower were super clean. The host was so welcoming and kind to us throughout the whole trip, making sure he we had everything we needed from tuk-tuks, food and the times of local buses. Me and my friend were bewildered by his kindness and efficiency, a very hard worker who made the experience complete and unforgettable. Thank you so much, we’ll be back!

IrelandGreat value for money. Also book your Safari to yala through the hostel. They have connections with the best guides. Let your host know what meals you need when you arrive. He can organise delivery or his wife makes beautiful traditional food. Also your host gives you a wake up call for your Safari. Very helpful to organise taxi to your next location or can give you tuk tuk to bus stop. Just give your host some notice. I also stayed at their other property for one night (Riverside Cabana in Tissamaharama) Perfect for a complete private tree experience. Beautiful river view. Wonderful food. Great owner who will organise your safari tours and is passionate about wildlife also.

AustriaThe dinner was overpriced. We paid 1.500 for a simple Chicken Kottu per per person!
The rooms and the property is just lovely. Especially the family is very welcoming and nice. It was clean. I loved the open air shower. It's a bit outside of town but they organized a tuk tuk from the neighbor to take us to the store. It was possible to book a Safari through them for a good price too!

GreeceThis majestic treehouse is a very cool experience for travelers and wanderers! It is located outside the city, in a very peaceful and quiet area! Everything resembles nature, the house is wooden and very comfortable! The beds have mosquito protection, very important for keeping insects off you! The shower is open, with no roof, so that you can actually stare at the stars or the sun! Our breakfast was adequately enjoyed and the housekeepers were lovely! If you’re afraid of bugs and you want to challenge yourself, I would definitely recommend staying there since you’re actually in the woods, experiencing a more natural environment!
