How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe stayed 3 nights at The Windy Nest and felt right at home. The room was clean, the mosquito net was a life-changer, and the place is surrounded by nature-far from the craziness and noise of the center, yet still within walking distance. It’s close to attractions like Little Adam’s Peak and the Nine Arches Bridge. Big thumbs up for the breakfast on the balcony with its amazing view! For the price, it’s definitely worth it!
The Wi-Fi wasn’t working very well, but that’s also part of the experience-to fully disconnect and not be bothered by our phones.

Verified reviewThe family were so welcoming, and Heshan was really helpful with advice on where to eat and providing a tuk tuk for a tour of the places we wanted to visit. They took us to a beautiful secret waterfall were we were alone and could swim with the monkeys in the trees and butterflies flying around. They included us in their new year celebrations with cakes at breakfast and served us an amazing plentiful dinner that evening with the best rice I've ever had. We had a wonderful stay! Many thanks!

Verified reviewSanctuary away from hustle and bustle of ella, it is close to Little Adams rock and the bridge. The home overlooks the mountains. If you wake up early, you may see the deer walking through the garden. Otherwise, plenty of birds and squirrels to amuse. Food is sumptous and delicious and most of all, I'm grateful for Naomi and Shans family's hospitality.

Verified reviewWe originally booked 3 nights, but we ended up extending our stay by an extra night because it was truly a paradise! We loved every moment spent in the stunning surroundings. The breakfast was different every day, and each one was absolutely delicious. Thank you for making our stay so memorable and enjoyable!

Verified reviewThe staff is amazing! Felt welcome from the first minute we arrived. They go above and beyond to make the stay as comfortable as possible. When I got sick during the stay, they immediatley wanted to help and even offered to go to the pharmacy or bring me to the hospital (neither of which was required). The rooms are really spacious with a super big and comfy bed. There is also a warm water shower. We also had our laundry done there. Everything was neatly organised and clean. Big bonus points! The location is great as well. Not too much noise and a beautiful view. The breakfast looked nice as well (eventhough I was too sick to eat).
The only minus point I can give is the water pressure. But in my opinion, hot water is more important than water pressure.

Verified reviewGood location
The smell in the was terrible, don’t know if only our room was like that, but it was awful, we kept our bags and clothes outside just to avoid the smell. Also bathroom wasn’t the best, looked like there were two leeches on the walls, anyway, not the best thing to see when showering, and there was mold
thank u very much for ur good review..

Verified reviewThe pictures don’t do it justice! This is the nicest stay we have had in Sri Lanka. The views from your room are incredible, it is so peaceful and quiet. The room is beautiful and very comfortable. They give you lots of pillows and lots of space in the room. The staff were so kind and they bought us tea and cake (the most delicious cake I’ve had in Sri Lanka!). The breakfast was delicious and very filling and changed each day. Our favourite stay so far.
thank you very much....

Verified reviewIt was one of the best places we stayed during our 5 week trip around Sri Lanka-certainly the best value for money. The hosts were so welcoming and very friendly. Breakfast was lovley and v generous - they took especial care to make sure they catered for me as a coeliac, with different traditional Sri Lankan food each day. The room was big and the bed v comfortable. Beautiful views and close to 9 arch Bridge and Little Adams Peak.
It was all great.

Verified reviewThis was probably our favourite stay in Sri Lanka, run by a family that is kind, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with a great view, and we could always ask for the tea on the balcony. Location is great - near 9 arch bridge and little Adam's peak, very quiet and the walk to the centre isn't bad.
There was some problem with hot water, but other than that great

Verified reviewVery clean, spacious rooms. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast tasty with a nice view and we also had dinner one evening which was really good. Quiet location with a 15 minute walk to Ella city. We did our laundry with the host and it came back perfectly, smelt great and folded nicely. Good prices.
Everything good apart from after showering the drains can smell a bit.. maybe to be checked. Hot water was lukewarm sadly.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was huge and delicious. The owner and her daughter treated me like family. I had a nice big room with a big bed, comfortable couches and a table for my eating area. The view outside was beautiful of tea leaves and trees. I was given a free bottle of water. There place is walking distance to the Nine Arches bridge and little Adams Peak. The owner dropped me off with his tuk tuk when I was leaving.
The stairs from the road to the room was very steep.

Verified reviewWe totally recommend this place, the room is spacious and with wonderful views. Breakfast is the best part of this place, and if you pay extra, they also prepare a meal that we highly recommend. The family welcomed us with great attention and quality that made it hard to leave this guesthouse.

Verified reviewPerfect location near little Adams peak and nine arch bridge and within walking distance to Ella main street. Personally I much preferred being away from the busy town in a quieter location with a gorgeous view. The free breakfast was amazing and very delicious and the room was clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place
