Overall we liked our stay at Wattura. The suite we stayed in was so clean and comfortable. The food at the restaurant was excellent as was the service from the staff. We loved the pool and our kids spent lots of time in the mini water park. The massage at the spa was so so good.

Strange payment method upon arrival, whereby one person only was taken to see the villa, while the other was asked to sign paperwork and pay for the stay (and in our case while maintaining an eye on a toddler and young child who were over excited by the pool). It all felt a bit rushed and uncomfortable. Would have been better if payment was required upon arrival, to do it in Reception and allow everyone to have the villa tour. I later had to call back the butler to explain something he had already explained to my husband unbeknown to me. Service in the restaurant was quite slow (despite having ordered dinner via WhatsApp earlier on), wrong items arrived and others never did, despite being ordered. Same slow service for drinks when ordered by the pool. Felt like there was a lack of attention to detail for a hotel of this calibre, especially as we only saw another 3 families during our stay. Was also disappointing to arrive to see 1 x double bed and 1 x single bed, despite being a family of 4. When I called to query this, they tried to charge me 40USD for an "extra" bed for the night, which i said was unacceptable as the booking was clearly made for 4 people and there was no "sofa bed" (which would have been ok) as described in the reservation. In the end the bed was provided, but again felt like an awkward and unnecessary start to the stay. Similar scenario with the number of chairs on the dining table... there were only 2, so we couldn't sit down as a family at the table.

- Beautiful Duplex Villa, which was immaculate and very spacious - wonderful food in the restaurant and even a kids' menu for the little ones - personalised comms with a representative via WhatsApp for ease of settling in and getting what you need, inc facilitating the evening menu for dinner plans. - fantastic spa... highly recommend the hot stone massage! - Paid attention to the note that it was a birthday celebration and received a lovely message in the room, as well as complementary birthday cake - Beautiful beach and great direct access from the villa - Brilliant water park onsite for the little guests! - Size of the bathroom was wonderful, very spacious and well equipped

Our stay was marked by exceptional service from start to finish. The staff were incredibly attentive, always greeting us with a friendly smile and going out of their way to accommodate every request. You truly feel pampered and well taken care of here. The facilities are impressive on paper. The room we stayed in was spacious, spotless, and boasted a stunning view of the lagoon. The gym was well-equipped, the spa provided a relaxing escape, and the pool area was well-maintained with plenty of loungers, including some with views toward the beach. Breakfast was lavish, offering an extensive selection of dishes – almost overwhelming at times – and the evening dining experience was also enjoyable. However, despite these positives, the price-to-quality ratio fell short in our opinion. Both the room rates and the dining prices are on the high side, and while the amenities are plentiful, they lack a certain charm and atmosphere that would make the experience truly special. The setting is beautiful, but it feels like it’s missing a cohesive ambiance to tie everything together. In summary, if you’re seeking exceptional service and a well-maintained environment, this property delivers. But if you’re expecting a vibrant atmosphere or a stronger connection between price and overall experience, it may leave you wanting.

It took extremely long time to get the food after ordering and not everyone in the group got it at the same time. New year celebrations was very well organised and fun, but food was cold and not as tasty as other dishes served at the hotel.

Even though the Resort was built 2017 there are some signs of weathering on the grounds but we saw people working on it.

First of all the architecture of the resort is stunning, the size of our villa with sea view and private pool was enormous. We felt right at home, huge bathroom with round bathtub, there was absolutely nothing missing. Fernando our ‚butler‘ was the best helping even to organize certain things for us. The the Spa: we had a couple treatment and it was fantastic! The Chef in the restaurant is GREAT, he accommodated a few special wishes - not many guests end of October.

The colour of the Ocean but that really couldnt be helped . I stopped in srilanka on my way back from maldieves so you really cant create a fair comparison . the sea become better when you go down to Galle etc. but its a shade of brown in this area .

We booked the one-bedroom suite with a pool, and it was absolutely fantastic. The resort itself is exceptionally nice, with very friendly staff. The food was outstanding. The kids' pool and play area felt like an exclusive waterpark, which had my kids going wild. All in all its become my favourite place to relax in the Negombo area.

It was 125$..They said I have to pay 20$ for my 6 year old..The problem for folks with 2 kids in Booking.com is that when they give 2 kids it says book two rooms.That is not a constraint when you go there.Then why should it be when you are booking.

The description of the suite is wrong at booking.com. It suggest two different rooms but it is one big room. The pictures are correct but the description suggested two separate rooms. Also there is no river view the have blocked the view to the river with bushes which is a pity.

This is nice small resort right at the beach with a great pool. The breakfast was superb and the room has the best shower if have seen. The room was clean, the staff is friendly.

This is a wonderful resorts with good location. Rooms r spacious with balcony and lawn. We took a boat ride in the river and mangroves... amazing views. The staffs  r cooperative..  specially  the front desk manager .. all of them r very helpful. The foods were delicious and fresh .  I will recommend  this property to others.

Staff is bad in English, hard to communicate sometimes. Obvious lack of competences in services. Food could have been better. Wi-Fi is awful. Lost golden bracelet somehow, never was returned.

Pretty friendly staff. It seems this hotel never gets full, just 2-3 families were at the same time with us, more on weekends. Calm place with thoughtful maintenance.

The property is gorgeous, facilities are in good shape, it has a private beach and gorgeous pool and all the amenities you would expect at a resort. The gym and spa are an excellent asset and the restaurant serves incredible dishes. We came here with a toddler and the staff did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. We loved the fact that the resort is small, so you don’t spend too much time going back and forth to the suite. We booked a suite and it is spacious, the bathroom is absolutely stunning and the bed is large enough for 3 adults!! An absolute dream of a bed, so so comfortable, we ended up sleeping in it with our toddler. We really appreciate the staff, who are welcoming and professional and are very diligent. It is perfect to spend some downtime, the resort is calm and peaceful and perfect for a family to come and rest.

The hotel is beautifully designed in the style of the famous architect Jeffrey Bawa. Our stay in the villa with a small pool and garden was truly fantastic. The rooms are spacious, and the shower area is breathtakingly large. Our personal butler was exceptionally attentive and took care of all our needs. We truly enjoyed a relaxing holiday. The hotel is located right on the beach, surrounded by a beautiful garden and a large pool, making it an oasis of tranquility. Moreover, we had the opportunity to embark on various trips organized by Nelson, our trusted driver of many years, who has shown us the wonders of Sri Lanka. Additionally, the hotel offers canoeing trips through the lagoon, providing another exciting way to explore the surroundings. During one of our canoeing adventures, we were thrilled to spot several large lizards basking in the sun along the shoreline. It was a memorable experience that added an extra layer of adventure to our stay. Additionally, the hotel offers various massages, all performed in a very hygienic and discreet environment, further enhancing our relaxation during our stay. The dining experience was of high quality, especially the seafood platter, which was exceptionally delicious and flavorful, consisting of various fish, shrimp, and crab.

The staff are friendly and keep asking you if everything is ok. However they are not effective. Nothing gets done particularly well. Had to remind about room service once. Every time they produce a bill they run off to reception. Needs more efficient management. Not 5 star but comfortably 4.

Meals a la carte but reasonable. Local dish was excellent. Other meals varied but at least ok. Worth a couple of days before or after Sri Lanka tour.

If the weather is rainy, there is really nothing to do at the hotel or around it. Only one male spa specialist available at the moment when we stayed at the hotel. This is a general observation we got about Sri-Lanka that your expectation is that it a spa and ayurveda island but treatments are hardly available at the hotels and if they are, specialists are very few and unavailable. The ocean seems to be shallow at the start so you can bathe there, but if you make it 20 meters into the water, the staff stops you as considers it dangerous, always a red flag beach during our stay.
