Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomBudget place, so of course the shared bathroom was not the best - but I don't complain, it's a budget place. As said in other reviews, to reach the place there is a road that daytime is okay to do by walk, but I would not walk there in the dark. I did not like that the host sat with me at dinner, and insisted on making me drink rum with him (which I gently refuse, I am a solo female traveler).
I paid 1200 rupies for 1 night + 600 rupies for dinner, and I got 1 double bed single room. So great value for the money. The room was fairly clean.

BangladeshNo AC was there in the room even though it said it will have AC
I had a great stay at Pick Me Village! Robert, the host, and his daughter were incredibly helpful and welcoming. They were flexible with my checkout time, which I really appreciated, and even helped me get food at night when everything nearby was closed. The location was convenient, the rooms were clean, and they also provided useful local information that made my trip smoother. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

BangladeshEven though I mentioned I might not stay the night in the room, still before I returned from my travels outside, he gave the room to someone else, which I didn't find nice. That didnt make much big a problem for me since I would leave just after a shower. So, Robert gave me access to the washroom so I could get myself a shower. Overall, this mitigated much of my distress, I hope this wont be repeated with other guests.
Convenient location at a walking distance from Dambulla bus station. The owner Robert and his wife were smiling and helpful. They were kind enough to allow me early check in at 9am. Also Robert had great advice for travelers.

RussiaTaking into account the price I paid (about $4 with breakfast), there are no complaints.
The homestay was comfortable, and Robert served breakfast early in the morning upon request. I stayed in a separate room with a double bed,

RussiaAmong the disadvantages: the Wi-Fi did not work in the evening. This was a problem because I bought the SIM card only in the morning and instead of the promised air conditioner, there was a fan.
The perception of this guest house will depend on what time you find yourself here. If everything is fine in the light, but if in the dark, it's a little creepy to walk from the main street to this house in pitch darkness. Although it's only 500 meters. However, the navigator will help. By the way, despite the small number of reviews, this guest house is the same hyped Robert Inn Dambulla. This will help you find it on the map. In general, everything was fine. Very friendly host Robert, good breakfast and very budget price. The room itself and the toilet are modest. There are mosquito nets in the room, which is not superfluous due to the presence of mosquitoes. For the same price as Uber, they offered to take us to Sigiriya, which we took advantage of.

United StatesI couldn't stay here. I left before sleeping. This place is down a long, rutted dirt road behind a motorcycle parts dump. When I arrived, they didn't have a room cleaned. It seems like they just clean one if and when a guest shows up. I waited outside while the friendly staff tried to put a quick spit shine on a room. Water was pouring down off of the roof right over the entry and going into the doorway, which made their problem a little tougher. Even when they were finished though, there was food and alcohol left in the room from a previous guest. Although I didn't really like that, it was when I put my arm down on the bedside table in a puddle of goo from the previous tenant's food residue that I decided to find a different place for the night. There were other cleanliness clues, but that just put it over the top.
The staff was very nice. It was only $4.

United KingdomReally can't grumble for the price. If ever i came back to Sigirya or Dambulla, I would come back here. And stay a few nights.
Great value for money, with everything you need. I only stayed one night and was able to wash my clothes for the next day. Reasonably priced. Robat is a very hard-working man and an exceptional host.

Czech RepublicNice family, very helpful. Accommodation is new with good-looking inner equipment. Location is quiet and very close to the centre city. I extended my stay because there are lots of places to explore. I was happy to be there. Hosts also offer transport to see interesting places like Pidurangala sunrise or cave temple what is very useful. All the best from Max - Czech Republic 👍😉

FranceThe pick me village doesn't exist. Take care, the address on booking doesn't exist on real maps, the hotel is the one called Robert Inn. Have a look on its reviews to know what is it. When we saw that, we wanted to cancel the second night but Robert has never answered.
