Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The parking could be a bit better as you have to get out and open/close the roller gate manually each time you go out.
The property was nice and the family who owned it was lovely too. Comfy bed and spacious room.

This place felt like a little retreat in Ahangama. The room is super nice - spacious and clean, the bed is really comfortable and the bathroom very spacious as well. The staff is very friendly! The location is really good - close to the beach and close enough to the center but still a little away. The only downside regarding this is it stands close to a temple, so the prayers are very audible really early in the morning. I found the value to be a bit much (considering no breakfast for instance), but compensated for the privacy and overall comfort

The only slightly bad thing was that there wasn’t a mosquito net.
The villa is really beautiful and easy to find and the family who is renting it is really nice. When we could find a tuktuk they offered to get us one.

I had a great experience during my stay at this homestay. The family running the place is wonderful, and they maintain it super clean. It's a quiet place with comfortable rooms and a nice hangout area with good Wi-Fi. There's also a nearby coffee shop, and the homestay has a kitchen, which is super convenient. Excellent value for money, with AC rooms that are perfect for both solo travelers and families. Highly recommended!

the villa is just right off the main road and there’s a temple as well so expect to have some traffic noises during the night or early morning prayers.
Location is good, mini mart,cafes, fruit stands all within 10 mins walking distance. Room is very simple but new and tidy. The hosts are very friendly family, they were always there to assist with whatever I needed.

Very friendly owners, comfortable room, nice kitchen and very nice hang out are in the garden! It's super close to some nice beaches and great coffee place. In a little quieter area but walkable from the busier street.

The family went above and beyond to help me and to make me feel at home. They even fit AC within a day as the room was too hot, the location is just opposite Kaffi which is such a nice cafe spot to a basically private beach! The room was clean and fresh I was super happy here Stuuti!!!

The wifi doesn’t work well in the rooms (I think because the walls are so thick), but it’s fine in the common areas.
Lovely villa run by a lovely family. The room was large, very clean and comfortable. It has really good, clean AC too. I loved that this place has a clean kitchen with enough equipment to cook an omelette for breakfast and even make a smoothie. It made it feel like home. The family is also very nice and helpful.

No ac, only a van (single bed room).
The owners are very friendly and willing to help. They also arranged a taxi to Negombo for me for a good price. Location is perfect.
