We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Very helpful host. Very flexible. 4 of the 5 rooms that I booked were awesome and no complaints. Host even went out of the way to find accommodation for our driver and drove him there. Very kind and understanding hosts. They provided cutlery when requested and even washed it for us after use. Highly recommend.

Sri LankaIt’s truly disappointing to see Villa 121, in Kandy, Sri Lanka, response filled with false information to my google review about our Booking.com reservation. You’ve mentioned that I requested breakfast and Wi-Fi, but let me make it clear: I did not ask for these services at your property. I carefully researched and booked your place based on what was clearly presented online, and my breakfast plan was arranged elsewhere. Secondly, nowhere in any of the online listings for this property is there mention of a "premium" room, as you’ve falsely suggested. The property does not even have such a category. It is unfortunate that you are attempting to misrepresent the truth in order to shift blame, rather than take responsibility for the situation. I have attached screenshots of your published room categories. I’m not a first-time visitor to Sri Lanka, so I know what to expect when it comes to the hospitality here. The fact that you are attempting to mislead potential guests with such inaccurate statements is not only dishonest but also damaging to the reputation of Sri Lanka’s tourism. It’s incredibly frustrating to see a service provider take such a cheap route by blaming guests in a public forum, trying to cover up your own shortcomings instead of offering a genuine apology or taking responsibility. This kind of approach is not what Sri Lanka’s tourism industry needs if we truly want to improve and grow. I would never recommend this property to anyone, and I am deeply disappointed with the overall experience. To mislead guests online in this manner is not only unprofessional, but also unethical.
