We spent 4 nights here and absolutely loved it! The view from the balcony was incredible and had a great sense of privacy. Everyday the breakfast was different and equally good and allowed us to eat different authentic Sri Lankan foods. The family were lovely and even did our laundry (for a small added fee) and drove us around Ella. Definitely recommend and a short walk (few hills) to the main town and railway towards Ella’s rock!

The property was in a great spot with a fabulous view! The walk into the Main Street was about 10 minutes, cutting through the train line. This guesthouse is run by Andy, wife and his parents who were a great help for our day to day activities.

Lovely family running the place. The views were amazing and the breakfast was very good. Great value for money.

Everything was good

Everything at V@Ella was wonderful! The room was very comfortable and well-equipped with smart details for travelers. The terrace was the perfect spot for an amazing breakfast each morning, overlooking the picturesque valley. Andy and his family are so accommodating and helpful with any questions we had and gave insightful tips regarding getting around and local attractions. They go above and beyond with their kindness.

We loved this place and the family who owns it is super nice and friendly. The guesthouse is located in quite area with a beautiful viel over the valley and just 10-15 minutes walking distance to the Main Street which is perfect. Also the local breakfast was perfect to start the day.

The guest house rooms are very clean, tidy and standard size, stuff (Owner couple) services were amazing, they are very cooperative and helpful, fast wifi internet.

Andy and his family are lovely hosts, they took great care of us and made us feel at home. On the day of arrival they messaged us to ask if we'd like to have dinner and I'm glad we did, It was delicious! Rooms have a small balcony with a good view of the mountains.

We liked everything

Firstly, the shower is awesome, the best I've used since I arrived in Sri Lanka three months ago. Great water pressure and HOT water. The wi-fi is also excellent, if that's important to you. These two things really stood out for me, but beyond this, the room was new and clean and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. There's also a stunning view of the mountains to enjoy when you sit outside. The location is nice, convenient to town without being right in the noisy bustle.

For me, too many starchy carbs at breakfast. I could have done without the toast and rice and enjoyed more fruit instead. The pillows on my bed were definitely for side sleepers: they were a bit hard and didn't compress much.

The older man running the place was absolutely wonderful, stopping by for a chat each morning as he brought breakfast. There are only 3 rooms here I think, and it’s lovely and peaceful, about a 5 min walk from the edge of the town (the shortcut on the train tracks cuts down the walk along the main road by about 15 mins!). Ella main town seems quite loud and touristy, so being tucked back behind that with a view over the mountains was the perfect respite. Perfect location to walk to the 9 arched bridge, Little Adams Peak, and Ella Rock.

Nothing, the stay was perfect. It is quite a humid region, so aircon would have been nice just to take some moisture out of the room, but the fan did a good job of keeping the airflow.

Frequent power cuts and wifi wasn’t very good

Beautiful spot, overlooking the mountains. We would see wildlife whilst eating our breakfast. The location was perfect for us as it was a bit out off the busyness of Ella but a 10 minute walk if you follow the railways. Andy was very attentive and friendly. He even offered a take away breakfast when we had to leave early on our last day. The room doesn’t have AC but it didn’t bother us at all with the climate in the mountains.

We did not know that the location was difficult to reach by car. It would have been useful to know, before arrival, that the last 800 meter should be done by tuk-tuk

There are only three rooms at this guesthouse. It’s in a quiet and safe spot. Andy and his Dad were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and the view each morning were the highlight. There are no restaurants nearby so we found the 10 minute walk into town became quite tiring when doing it multiple times a day (lunch and dinner). The rooms could be modernized a bit too. If we had our time again we would have spent a bit more to be closer to the Main Street.

Family run guesthouse couldn’t do enough for you ,breakfast was top notch something different everyday, room was perfect ,clean,comfy great views would definitely recommend to anyone

The family who run the home stay were the highlight of our stay, they are really friendly and accommodating. The views from the rooms are amazing nestled between little Adams peak and Ella rock. The room is very clean and comfortable with a nice breakfast provided each morning.

It is situated on a hill however the family let us know a shortcut into town which took less than 10 minutes by foot.

Andy and his dad and family were lovely. Service and help with a smile. Mid size room with comfy bed and lovely dedicated terrace overlooking the fabulous view of ella rock and little adams peak. Great breakfast. 10 mins walk to town.

Bathroom is a bit dated but shower was good so not really a prob.

Lovely guesthouse with great views. Fantastic breakfast served on the verandah. It’s a short walk to town along the rail tracks.

The views from V@ella are breathtaking 👌❤️ the rooms are spotless. Andy and his family are the nicest kindest people you will ever meet. The breakfast provided is delicious. Location is 10 out of 10. Please do not hesitate to book!

We loved everything

This is the best accommodation we had in Sri Lanka. The owner and his family are so incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful. Our train was 3 hours late and we arrived at 10pm, he picked us up from the train station. Communication via WhatsApp worked perfectly. This is one of those accommodations that you never forget...
