We loved the location of Hotel Thilanka and it was incredibly convenient and made our stay much easier. However, the property itself is in need of a serious refresh. The rooms feel quite tired and dated, especially the bathrooms. The linen also needs urgent attention; the towels provided were very worn, discolored, and didn’t feel clean, which led us to purchase our own from town. Despite these issues, our overall 4-day stay was pleasant, largely due to the excellent location

Facilities are lovely, specially at night, nice ambience, atmosphere, incredible views to Kandy. Delicious breakfast, friendly staff. Lovely welcome with delicious drinks.

I suggest adding more seafood options to the dinner buffet. Please be mindful of the noise coming from the dishwashing area next to the dining space. I suggest a door to avoid disturbing guests while they are dining.

We paid for a suite with a balcony but it didn't have one. The room was nice but we had to use the main thoroughfare as our outside space. Breakfast finished a bit too early and there wasn't any lunch for half board despite it being stated in the lobby and on our key fob. The food wasn't the best, maybe if you like fish it would be, but the meat dishes were chewy, the dinner time music was nice but he definitely needs to work on his songs. I was a bit annoyed I didn't get to have a swim on the last morning and woken up to the sound of drums at 8am due to a wedding taking place but watching the Kandyian dancers appeased the frustration.

The views from the pool were spectacular and the staff are all friendly and cater for all your needs. Our room was nice and had all the amenities. The hotel is a little dated but it's over 100 years old and you can still see the oppulance today. The location is great, close to the temple of the tooth and the lake. Laundry service was great too. Sent a few individual item's which came back really clean. Seeing a monkey stroll by the window on the last day was a highlight.

Rooms very outdated. View is nice but not for all the rooms. Had to change room for that. Restaurant took one hour to make rice and a sandwich.

Bathrooms could do with an update and no family rooms (we had 2 adjacent rooms which is not as convenient with young family). Could do with pool towel cards rather than shouting at guests trying to take a pool towel back to room. Also would be nice if the pool bar staff did table / lounger service during the day.

Great view of Kandy hillside and fab pool. Bellboy Lakmal (and his team) were very friendly and helpful too.

Be careful of the monkeys, don't think they are cute, you need to close the balcony. But it's the same everywhere, it's just life.

This was a fabulous hotel, the food was excellent and the 40m pool overlooking Kandy was really lovely. Walking distance of the temples and the culture dance shiws too made it a great choice

Only mark down really was the gym, it was lacking to say the least.

Beautiful views from the rooms, pool, restaurants. The room was spacious and had great views on the mountains and town. Easy for us to walk to town and to the tooth temple from the hotel. Staff were really nice and welcoming. Breakfast was really good, lots of options and value.

Hotel needs a make-over, some paint would do wonderful.

The pool and location, is amazing. Easy walk to city center and Temple of the holy tooth relic. Great poolbar. Watch out for monkeys on your terrasse.

The hotel does need to be freshened up. It is a little dated. The water pressure for taps and shower is low.

We really enjoyed the customer service. The staff were exceptional, especially Sameera, Nan Thiri Mon, Viraj and Lakmal. These are the names we know, but all staff were lovely. We did have a lovely room, one of the best in the hotel. Our best food in the hotel was the food prepared by the poolside bar.

Some power points were very old-fashioned (circular holes) and need adapters to connect devices.
