An extraordinary place to stay. Highly recommend. Would come back without hesitation. Have stayed in accomodation all through Europe, Asia, Australia, NZ and can say this accomodation is easily world class with excellent attention to detail from a very helpful host. Good aircon. Lovely shower. Juice on arrival. Very secure. Would recommend to my friends and would absolutely stay again.

This is by far the best place we have stayed while touring Sri Lanka. It was so clean, well presented, comfortable well equipped with extras. The staff we lovely, the owner friendly and happy to help and guide us on our way. I could have easily stayed longer. The restaurant opposite is run by a lovely kind family who will go the extra mile to accommodate highly recommended you try it out too.

I honestly can not say what needs improving. It’s perfect how it is.

The Residence was the best place we stayed during our travels around Sri Lanka. Chamara and the team really went the extra mile to make our stay comfortable from sorting early check in to sharing restaurant recommendations and transport advice. The room was exceptional, spacious and very modern and the plunge pool/sun deck area was lovely. The team always had a smile on their face which was a plus! The location is excellent, only 5 minute walk from the beach and the main shops/restaurants. And also tucked away off the main road so you manage to have a nice peaceful sleep. Thank you very much Chamara and team! We will definitely be paying another visit.

Best accomodation over the 3 weeks of our Sri Lankan visit. Super helpful owner, lovely staff, great location, awesome room, pool and breakfast. We loved it.

The host is very friendly and accommodating and helps wherever he can. The rooms are very spacious and modern. The breakfast was also delicious and freshly prepared every day! The accommodation is also in a good location and the beach and main street are just a few minutes' walk away.

Wow wow wow 😳 this place is amazing. Could not fault it. Everything here was faultless. The rooms, the pool and surrounding areas were excellent, Chamara made us so welcome, nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely recommend this to our friends. It certainly deserves the 10 rating on booking.com. I would give it 11 if I could 🙂

Very nice place, a best of class hybrid between a boutique hotel and a home stay. Breakfast was a huge spread of delicious local specialties. We had Wood Apple juice and Egg Fruit for the first time- incredible! Highly reccomend. Chamara is very attentive and helpful with transportation and arranging activities around the SW coast or further afield. He transported us to Galle and arranged a Safari that toured Yala and Bundawala in one day!

The reviews do not lie when it comes to this place. Chamara the host really gives your stay a homestay feel, while you have all the luxuries of a hotel. The rooms are spacious, spotless, the property has a pool and rooftop and you also have a private balcony area. Chamara was there for any recommendations and help we needed, including booking us a table at a local restaurant and informing us of train times and operations. He really made us feel at home and gave us everything we needed during our stay. I could not fault our stay and for the price, you'd be crazy not to stay here! 10/10 thank you Chamara

1. Amazing hosts. Professional, polite and caring. Helpful suggestions about what to see, what to do. 2. Fabulously designed property - just two guest rooms. Better than most luxury hotels! 3. Huge room - spotlessly clean and so thoughtfully designed with all amenities and facilities. 4. Quiet location - with small & clean swimming pool, manicured lawns, trees, sit-out chairs, private breakfast table. 5. Fabulous breakfast. 5. If at Hikkaduwa - this is the place I shall stay again. Strongly recommended.

I am sure the Hosts will invest in continuous improvements, that are required in any tropical climate, to tackle mosquitoes, cross-ventilations, bathroom exhausts, dampness!

We feel very fortunate to have secured 2nts last minute availability here at the end of our 2wk trip round Sri Lanka. It was by far the best quality property that we stayed in, with its boutique feel and with the best breakfast too…to top it off it had a lovely little pool and sun bed area. Chamara is a fantastic host. Thankyou for making the last 2nts of our Sri Lanka tour so special.

Absolutely nothing!

The property was clean, spacious and airy! We were looked after so nicely and the hosts were fantastic! The location is great and only a short walk from all the nice things the town has to offer!

We would have loved for breakfast to be included in the price but it was delicious regardless!

Do choose The Residence if you like comfortable living and excellent hospitality! Spacious, clean room, good, big breakfast, quiet surroundings yet close to the beach and good restaurants.

My husband and I flew on a honeymoon and this hotel will remain one of the best memories for us! These hotel have all you need, big and clean room with A/C and TV with english channels, big shower, also small fridge in the room. Is an excellent place for relaxing and having some time enjoying the swimming pool. The owner and the rest of the workers are super kind and they put attention to detail. The breakfast was delicious and a lot of food! Also, we needed a taxi to go to the airport and they booked for us. We enjoyed a lot the experience, it was a pleasure.

We stayed for one night at the beautiful Residents Hotel in Hikkaduwa during our last trip. It was very clean and tidy, with everything you need available in the room. It was furnished like a real 5-star hotel. The room was spacious and harmoniously decorated. The pool area was perfect for relaxing, with great sun loungers to enjoy the sun. The host even stored our luggage for our later departure and allowed us to use his private shower so we could enjoy an extra half day. Additionally, he let us park our tuk-tuk with him so that the tuk-tuk.com company could pick it up, which we really appreciated; not everyone would do that. Best place in Hikkaduwa,rReally recommend and we would like to come back anytime soon. Thanks Chamara

Clean and spacious rooms, close to the beach

Everything was great, literally! I expected much less but it is really like the comments say. Perfectly clean, way cleaner than other hotels. Even clean for German standards and since the owner worked in German hotels for some time, it is supplied with everything one might need, shampoo and shower gel, soap, vanity kit, safe, Minibar, towels, fan etc etc. Also two complementary liters of filtered water. The beds are really comfy and clean too. The pool area ist such a nice place to relax, the staff is very friendly as well as the owner and his family. It is very quiet, 5-10 min walk to the beach in a secure area. Directly in front is a very nice restaurant owned by the neighbors, were we had amazing Pineapple juice and our first curry. The breakfast is done by the staff, we tried Sri Lankan and it was great tea, some fruits and pancakes, rotty and curry, everything very delicious and more than enough to be full after a nice morning swim in the sea. We also liked that they took our low spice tolerance into account. Chamara, the owner, was so nice to drive us to our next destination when we asked and offered a very good price. He asked us what we wanted to see and showed us around some nice places that we would otherwise have missed. He also gave us many useful tips and told us about the history of Sri lanka since it was our first time. We couldn't have found a better stay for our first night. We were return guests from eighteen months ago. We liked it very much and the host is very engaging. We also used them for an airport transfer for a friend which was seamless. The pool is lovely and the rooms luxurious. We like the locations easy walking for food and drinks. Secure parking and we were looked after well. Definitely is a 10!

Clean and well furnished. Generous room size. Nice bathroom with ample hot water and good water pressure. In a good, quiet location - 5 mins walk from the main street.
