The Majentra Ella was our favorite hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka during our honeymoon. The view & the rooms are absolutely amazing - you get peace and serenity with great amenities. Also, we took a cooking class at the hotel with the chef and learned how to make really good Sri Lankan food. The staff was super super nice & went out of their way to make our visit special, and also gave us a lesson in cutting cinnamon directly from the tree. We really can't say enough good things about this place, we were very sad to leave & can't wait to come back.

The location whilst beautiful is really tricky to get to - the road is being redone so this should improve in future. We weren’t aware that the rooms weren’t cleaned every day - this should be communicated with the option to request more water/additional water provided daily as by the time we went to bed we realised we had none left and had to wait until morning. For the price paid (it is by no means a cheap stay), this shouldn’t really happen. The cocktails and alcohol are also very, very expensive - the most we paid in Sri Lanka.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room offered a stunning view, the staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and the food was absolutely delicious. The remote location makes it very peaceful and surrounded by nature, which made the experience even more relaxing. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet getaway.

This was such an amazing hotel, with the most unbelievable views - we had no idea that we would be staying in such a beautiful place! ❤️ We absolutely loved it there, and relaxed after the train from Nuwara Eliya and the crowds of Ella town. It is such a serene haven, we would absolutely recommend staying there before it becomes too popular and discovered!! It is off the beaten track, but the staff do their best to shuttle you to/from hotel (10 min drive from the main road). You will love the majestic views and immersive surroundings ! And food was v good. And a huge thank you to the team there to make it such a special experience!

Road down for the hotel is incredibly bumpy but tbh as are a lot of spots in this area. Limited drinks menu, they don’t sell wine by the glass and no cocktails from what I could see so I don’t have a drink with dinner.

This beautiful hotel stepped into the hillside has superb views. The rooms are lovely with comfy beds and an excellent bathroom. The food is delicious, freshly prepared and beautifully served. However it is the staff who really make this a fabulous place to stay. Incredibly friendly and helpful, happy to drop you for a sunrise trip to Little Adam's peak or rearrange train tickets and find excellent drivers to visit all the local sights.

To far from town. It was an inconvenience needing to be shuttled to and from the main road as cars are unable to drive the final 1km to the property.

The last bit of the road to the property was bumpy and made it difficult to come and go making it difficult to come back to the hotel to change or rest. We were told the road would be built soon which I think will make a huge difference.

One thing that really stood out was that the restaurant tables are not set in a standard way – this adds so much more charm and creates a magical atmosphere. It feels special and thoughtfully designed. However, the tables for four are not located directly at the balcony. While we still had a beautiful view, it would have been truly perfect if we had been able to sit together at the edge, enjoying the full panorama. That evening, only families were dining, so it would have been great if the hotel had anticipated this and arranged the seating accordingly. Instead, we had to look past empty two-person tables in front of us before seeing the view.

Our stay here was truly magical. From the breathtaking views to the impeccable service and delicious food, everything exceeded our expectations. We made a conscious choice to order several dishes from the menu so we could taste a variety of flavors – and every single one was outstanding. After a busy few days full of activities in Ella, this place offered the perfect escape to unwind and relax. We felt completely at peace here and would have loved to stay longer. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a serene and memorable experience.

If you want to do lots of short trips into Ella, then this property might not be right for you - the trip from hotel to town is approx 40 mins. We found it was fine for a once a day kind of outing The food was fine but not amazing - it was great to do the half board option as it is far from town in the evenings Simple things would improve the overall feeling - eg provide drinking water at meals, ask the guests if they would like coffee with breakfast! (3 mornings and we had to ask for the coffee each time - not a big deal but easy to improve!)

The most stunning views of our trip, much better than any from the famous Little Adam’s Peak… Great to be up in the mountains, in the fresh, cooler air. The location is very peaceful, and being some way out of Ella was not a problem for us. The staff were always happy to shuttle us up the track to the main road. Kuvinda in particular was excellent.

Everything was beautifully designed and peaceful, and we felt genuinely cared for and looked after by the entire team. Our host Majith was exceptional, organised everything for us with no hassle. All the other staff were also great. The rooms are beautiful and look over a majestic view. We participated in the cooking class for $20USDpp and it was a fabulous time. Food at the restaurant is great and it’s a great spot to have breakfast The location is perfect if you want a get away escape although it is far outside of Ella town, the Hotel can organise you a TukTuk into Ella for approx 2300SLD

Wow! If you want a room with a view, this is the place to come! The views were simply incredible. Watching the birds from our balcony in the morning was amazing. Our room was spacious new and modern. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. Don’t be put off by the bumpy road to reach the hotel as it really is worth the ride!

No negatives at all really! It was a great place . I would say It was quite expensive per night, I do feel it could be a little cheaper really. You have to get the tuk tuk to the hotel which is not so bad it’s about 25 minutes and it’s quite bumpy on the journey. We found it a funny experience! However if the road was smoother I imagine it would not be as long a journey to get to and from the hotel.

Wow!!! Such an amazing beautiful property! Our stay was absolutely amazing. We cannot wait to return already and we were gutted when we left. We stayed for two nights at Majentra. It was truly a peaceful and unforgettable stay. It is off the beaten track which we loved however it did take quite some time to get there. It was definitely worth it for the view! The pool was so lovely. We swam at night in the rain on one of the nights which was a great experience. The bath tub in the rooms is such a lovely addition. The style of the property is such a cool style. The food was so lovely and plenty of it! As I say we were extremely sad to leave. Cannot wait to return! The team were all so helpful and friendly we cannot thank them enough! We found across Sri Lanka everyone so friendly and helpful - such a beautiful place.

It is 7 km away from Ella and a normal car cannot reach the hotel. The road is very narrow and bumpy. They send their own bus to pick you from the main road. It rained while we stayed there and although the hotel arranged tuc- tuc to give us a ride to Ella we had extremely hard time to find one to bring us back to hotel.

We had an amazing experience at this lovely hotel! From the moment we arrived, we were charmed by the greenery surrounding the property, felt like stepping into a peaceful paradise. It even rained heavily on our first day, which added to the charm and made the scenery even more magical the next morning. The bungalow was spacious of 2 stories, comfortable, and beautifully designed. There are only four bungalows on the property, which makes the atmosphere very private and serene. What really stood out was the team running the place. Though small and long working hours, they were super friendly, attentive, and professional. Everything from check-in to meals was handled with such care. Speaking of meals, the food was delicious! Every dish we had was fresh and full of flavor. they do breakfast on tray basis and not buffet since the number of guest are limited. They call you the night before to ask on the type each person would like to order.

The photos and description of this property really can't do it justice. From the moment you walk into the perfectly open reception, the views across the valley and the natural beauty of the hillside grounds of the hotel are overwhelming. Its a magical place that we would definitely recommend to anyone travelling near Ella. The team at the hotel were also super helpful, warm and welcoming. Majith in particular was a perfect host, he took great care of our family, made sure we had everything we needed, and also arranged for us a spice walk where we cut our own cinnamon sticks, and a private cooking session with the head chef of the hotel. *****

Beautifully located in the mountains above Ella, this feels like staying in the rainforest. Expensive, but a unique experience. Be prepared it’s a bit of a drive from Ella, but seeing the sunrise from the porch is worth it.
