Nice place to stay , good food , clean room , Very close to the turtle beach

The location is amazing and right on the beach and also in the middle of town. Great value for money!

The beach was right in front of us the food was amazing and the staff were lovely..

They didn’t clean the room daily even tho it was beach front a sweep and fresh sheets would be a good idea as the sand is hard to keep out..

My stay was incredible - the rooms are comfortable and the location is great. The rooms are clean and very well-equipped with a good a/c and fan- cooler, small fridge, kettle with tea/ coffee selection, cold/hot water in the bathroom, sockets placed smartly in the right places, safe box. Guests can also use comfortable sun beds. The breakfast is very delicious. And the place is safe. As for location - it’s 5 mins walking distance from the turtle beach, less than 2 mins to the supermarket, wine store and bus station. However, the most delightful about my stay was the team - both hosts and all the guesthouse and restaurant team make you feel welcome and always happy to assist you with any request. Would like to separately mention amazing ocean view (available in 2 rooms) and sunsets.

Staff were welcoming, room was big and breakfast was simple but good

- although ocean view as promised, it is not do comfortable to relax on the porch as you are right next to the restaurant so there is no privacy (pictured)

I spent 2 weeks at the Den, there are no cockroaches:) the place is clean, snow-white bed linen, they do very good cleaning every other day

Ocean view from the room. First line (but this part of the beach is not for swimming because of waves and rocks) Large and fresh room with air conditioning and fan. The air conditioner is properly installed and does not blow on the bed, so you can safely sleep at night and not catch a cold Good breakfasts which include fresh juice and tea and hearty meals There is a supermarket one minute walk away Good restaurant on site Welcoming and friendly hotel staff who help with any request You can give your clothes for washing - 700 rupees per kilo Generally good wi-fi There are a huge number of cool restaurants within five minutes of the hotel The bathing beach is about a 10 minute walk along the shore. You can meet turtles and go snorkeling there

The room windows face the restaurant and the shoreline where there are people all the time, so we had to keep the curtains closed all the time

We had the most wonderful experience at the Den Guest House. Firstly, let's talk about the location – it's absolutely unbeatable. Right by the beach with stunning views of the sea from the rooms, it couldn't get any better. The beach itself is immaculate, and this particular stretch feels like a hidden gem within Hikkaduwa. The service was exceptional, with staff going above and beyond to ensure guests' comfort and satisfaction. They were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with a smile. Now, onto the food – it was divine! The meals offered were not only delicious but also reasonably priced, making it an excellent value for money. The ambiance of the beachfront restaurant added to the dining experience, especially in the evenings when it felt truly magical. What sets this hostel apart is its furry residents – the dogs and cats that roam around freely, creating a homely atmosphere. As an animal lover, I felt right at home surrounded by these adorable creatures. Overall, I highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a relaxed and peaceful getaway. Whether you're into chilling by the beach, soaking in beautiful views, enjoying a family-like atmosphere, or simply cuddling up with some furry friends, this place has it all. It's a hidden paradise that I can't wait to return to!

Location was good, just on the beach.

When I came at 4pm room was very hot, I switched on A/C with full power but it wasn't really helping. Room became a bit cool only at 3am. So I wasn't able to sleep for the most of the night. Breakfast was very basic. Also room wasn't really clean, I didn't feel comfortable because of that. On the bed only small throw, no blanket. View of the ocean is actually overlooking the restaurant, so everyone can see you through the big windows. Didn't like the place and moved to another proper hotel next day for the rest of my vacation.

The location right on the beach was great.

The music going at the restaurant could be a bother to some but it wasn’t a problem for us.

the room is literally on the beach! Waking up and sleeping to the sound of the waves is truly fantastic! the shower is wonderful and the food in the restaurant is delicious! unfortunately, not all the staff speak English, which makes interaction a little difficult (so everything I wanted to ask I used the booking platform and they responded promptly) but this does not alter the service provided in any way, they were very kind to They let me leave my bags at the hotel while we waited for the train that would leave later! the bathroom I think was the cleanest I saw in Sri Lanka, thank you very much to the whole team, I hope to return one day!

the air conditioning made strange noises at night and couldn't handle the 30 degree heat that was at night. It would be enough if they provided a good fan.
