The house is very pleasant with a beautiful view of Kandy. The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast on the terrace, enjoying the view, is clearly a major reason to choose this place.

As a regular visitor to Kandy, I always choose to stay at Buena Vista. Although a little way out of town the views over the town are tremendous, the staff extremely helpful and the food some of the best I have eaten in Sri Lanka. The breakfasts change by the day and the evening meals are exceptional, with a variety of curries. Gopal is an excellent cook. There are only three rooms which make it feel like home.

The location is not ideal for exploring on foot, the property is quite far up the hill so a tuk tuk / taxi, or your own transport is required to get into the town. If you’re using a tuk tuk / taxi I would recommend using ride hailing apps (Uber or PickMe) as the tuk tuk organised for us by the property was considerably more expensive.

The property is nicely presented, the room was very spacious with a big, comfortable bed. Lovely views around the property. We were kindly greeted with a welcome drink.

Amazing hospitality from the start, room with amazing views. Breakfast was so yum, and very filling - set up outside, so you can take in the views whilst you eat. Tuk tuk arranged into the city, and help with where to buy tickets for the Kandy's cultural dance show. Sampath also helped us with the closest laundry service, for a quick under 24 hour turnaround and a taxi to our next destination.

Beautiful place high above the busy city, peaceful and quiet, amazing views! The place itself is lovely, very authentic so clean and comfortable. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. Preparing the most delicious Sri Lankan food iv ever tasted and Rathna so kindly showed us around the city. Absolutely wonderful stay, one of the best places to stay in the world! I highly recommend it!

The location was a bit up a hill and traffic to get there was sometimes a bit of a thing. Also I didn’t appreciate hearing the call to prayer for whoever go on for…The call was distant, but persistent.

A great place. Awesome view off the kindly shared terrace. Lots of fruit trees on the property with a number of really cool birds coming by to check them out. Great staff. Very fine breakfast. What more do you want?

A gem of a place. This is my fifth stay at Buena Vista, I make a point of staying here when I visit Sri Lanka, as I love the quiet location, with fine views over the city. The beds are very comfy, the rooms clean. The breakfasts are tremendous .....if you stay a week something different, and very tasty, is served up every day. The staff are super helpful and can arrange tuk tuks. Although you can walk, approx half an hour from either Railway Station or the Queen's hotel .....but you do need to be aware some of the walk is uphill! Maybe its better to walk into town! But that does mean the views are great, its fun to spot the various buildings and of course the lake.

The only thing I have to complain was the singing from the temple outside was annoying especially if you want to sleep.

The staff, which I can't remember there names, who was father and son running the show. They were excellent hosts and fed us well. The view was fantastic and place so clean. Great for elderly couple. It was safe and gates are locked at night. Would definitely recommend this place for my friends.
