The property is a historic building located inside Galle Fort. The location was superb. It’s a small property with 4 rooms, so the place is very quiet and relaxing. The house attendant was amazing. All staff were incredibly nice to us.

Standard room on the first floor smelled bad, could be mold. The key lock of the deluxe room on the second floor is half broken and we had difficulties every time we tried to unlock the door. Construction work going on right next door and the noise was constant from 7am in the morning..

Very cosy, wonderful staff who was always very helpful. Clean bed linens, wonderful hospitality! We loved our breakfast@fort bazaar hotel. Great location.

Incredibly beautiful small hotel in the Galle Fort area but with access to more amenities (pool etc) at the main hotel's residence only a few mins walk away. Lovely staff available to support with anything you may need also.

We loved our stay! Great location in the Fort, they provided a lovely room upgrade and Prasad couldn’t do enough. Breakfast at their hotel was fabulous with staff just as lovely! Also the complimentary walking tour was so informative, don’t miss it.

Up-front payment could have been smoother for us.

Worth the price tag. The staff treats you like royalty. Early birds do well to take the tour of the fort. The guide is deeply involved with the history and restoration of the fort.

Good location within the fort. Staff were so friendly and very helpful. Could order breakfast on site but we choose to go their sister property Fort Bazaar - 5 minute walk (breakfast and coffee was fabulous). Also, could access their pool but we didn't. Rooms were comfortable, great shower. Happily stay again.

It was great but, and would happily stay here again and none of these points would put me off, Even so: Breakfast isn't produced at this location. It comes from the sister property in the next street so you have to walk there to have it (or use that hotel's pool) which is no big deal, so long as it's not raining. The food can be delivered to you at 42 Lighthouse but that's not ideal if you've ordered say,poached eggs/hot latte. There was no booklet on hand to describe Fort Galle or the place's history, info about attractions etc, which would have been helpful. Had some drycleaning done one day and thought it was expensive. Pest spraying went on outside one afternoon which meant we felt the need to go out: we were given an advance note alerting us to this, which didn't mention if eco-friendly pesticides were being used, it would be reassuring to know they are, so birds and other wildlife eating those insects don't die.

Very quiet, with spacious room. Loved the history of the villa. Easy walk to main breakfast area, which was good in the morning. Pool was very clean. Also loved the free 1 1/2 walking tour. Breakfast was amazing with lots of choices. Good coffee.

Every thing was great. Did have a minor struggle operating the key locks. But always made it in

Beautiful villa, incredible and colourful interior design, and a warm atmosphere. It was beautiful, picturesque, and as offered a tailored experience. I was the only one that booked at the time and had the villa to myself. I loved that I could access the facilities of the Fort Bazar Hotel, including the choice to have breakfast there, use the pool, and enjoy the morning guided tour. The tour was excellent and the tour guide is a valuable intellectual (historian & archaeologist) whose work and advocacy contributes tremendously in protecting Galle’s history. Lastly, the staff, especially Prasad was incredibly and made the stay worth it. Thank you!

The keys for both our room and the main property were very temperamental. Twice we had to go and ask for staff members from the main hotel to help, and on the second occasion even he couldn’t open the front door for ten minutes while we sat outside on the street. I would hope this gets looked into asap as it put a bit of a dampener on our evening.

The house was beautiful and staying in a villa rather than the main hotel gave it a lovely air of privacy. We had breakfast at the main hotel and it was nearly 6 courses of food! It was delicious, especially the herbal porridge. The hotel offered us a free walking tour of the fort, this turned out to be one of the best experiences on our trip. The guide is studying for a phd in the local architecture and was charming and knowledgable. I cannot recommend the tour enough if you are interested in history.
