There was nothing we didn’t like. Everything was perfect.

We really enjoyed our stay. The place was very calm and clean with great privacy. The swimming pool was well maintained, and the staff provided excellent service. Staff was so friendly and helpful. It’s a nice place to relax and unwind, and definitely worth the price.

I had the room above a building separate from the main house. The balcony was outside the entrance door and was an extension of the pathway to the room. An outside space although no view as there was a wall. Lovely complimentary fruit and a drink upon arrival. Helpful staff who leant me a charging cable. Clean pool. Nice verandah at the front of the main house. Quiet as set at the end of a quiet lane off main road. Maybe 20 minute walk to Unawatana, partly along main road. I would stay again. Tuktuks available when needed. Handy for visits to Galle.

Such a calm environment with a nice pool. I went with my family to spend the weekend, and the staff was really friendly. If you're a travel-and-work person, this is the best place for you. They have many open spaces where you can work peacefully with good wifi. The pillows and bedsheets were very clean and smelled great. You can bring your own food or ask the staff to prepare meals for you. Highly recommended for gatherings with friends!

They charge you to use the communal kitchen per meal. Also no clean cloths etc to clean up after in the communal kitchen, flies everywhere

Pool is a big highlight here with pool towels, large spacious room too with balcony and small kitchenette even though there was a gas hob but didn’t work. 15 min walk from Main Street, in a quiet area.

Beautiful peaceful area, great pool and lovely size rooms. Staff super helpful and friendly. 3 minute tuk tuk ride to unatawana beach area with loads of bars and restaurants

- if you’re a light sleeper, you may struggle with the sound of birds that go on all night so I would recommend ear buds. ( not much that can be done from the staff in this regard) - no mosquito net

- aircon - fan - staff were sound - comfy bed - fridge - welcome drink

There are a few small areas for improvement. 1. Whilst we knew it is a homestay, the bedsheets were not changed and the room was cleaned only once during our 11 day stay. 2. If it gets noisy outside, you will hear it inside as well. We were lucky that it was quiet most of the time since we were the only guests but any street noise and loud neighbours would definitely be noticeable. 3. Mosquito nets in the room would have been great. 4. There were no shower utensils provided. 5. Disappointing hidden charges for using the kitchen three times to prepare an omelette and cut fruit, as this was not mentioned upfront. 6. Although VAT was charged, only a sales quote was provided instead of a proper tax invoice.

The property is a great choice overall. The house is spacious and well-maintained and the pool is clean and inviting. It offers excellent value for money. The double bedroom in the separate building above the garage felt like a private apartment. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The location is good—situated conveniently between Dewata (perfect for surfing) and Unawatuna beaches (15min walk/ 5min by tuk tuk). It’s away from the noise, yet still central enough to explore the area.

A little paradise away from the hustle and bustle of Unawatuna. We saw so mandy animals The guys who work there are very friendly and we felt very comfortable. You can still get to the sea very quickly by Tuktuk and there are places to eat very close by. We saw a lot of different animals and the pool area was amazing we loved it! We will be back, thank you very much!

Comfortable and clean villa with pool and kitchen. We loved everything inside. It’s 15 mins walk from the main street with cafes and 25 mins from the beaches. Quiet place with pool and small garden. Secured territory. The owner and staff are very friendly.

This was our favourite place to stay on our Sri Lanka trip. Beautiful, clean and peaceful accommodation in a great location (about 15 mins walk to most shops, restaurants and the beach). The rooms are spacious and the pool was ideal. Asoka and team are incredibly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to make you feel welcome. They cooked us a lovely traditional meal and regularly provided fruit and fresh drinks, which were lovely surprises. We really cannot recommend Star Light Villa enough. Thank you Asoka and team, until next time!

The swimming pool was very dirty, and the surroundings were untidy. The room was quite worn out and very noisy due to the air conditioner from the neighboring room running constantly.

It rained during the night, so the staff moved my scooter under a roof.

On first arriving to our room we discovered multiple cockroaches (both dead and alive) and other bugs, as well as finding hair on the beds and around the bathroom. However, once we were moved to another room it was much nicer.

It felt a bit like we were intruding on the people who lived in the house. They played very loud music until late (about midnight) both nights. . I think the hosts could probably improve a few things. No coffee :(

The bed was comfortable, the room was pretty clean. Secure area. Had a fridge.
