Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

An extraordinary location and exceptional staff. The staff was very helpful booking a safari or a trip to any of the attractions (for good prices). The location is breathtaking. The lake at the resort offers ample opportunities to spot birds. The first two days there even was an elephant, which also attracted the attention of the locals. The Sri Lankan breakfast was very good and pleasantly surprising.

United KingdomSigiriya Kings Resort was one of the highlights of our 10 days in Sri Lanka. Perfectly located just a short drive from Lions Rock, yet hidden in a peaceful, green setting, it felt like a true escape into nature. Our room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully styled, blending comfort with local charm, and having our own private pool was such a luxury. The food was the real star — fresh, flavourful Sri Lankan dishes cooked to perfection and served with such care that every meal felt special. The staff were exceptional too — warm, welcoming, and always ready to help — making our stay unforgettable. And our final breakfast in The Nest, after an early morning hike, was an absolute highlight — the perfect ending to our time there.

AustraliaIt looked a little run down on arrival.
This serene hotel has views of Lions Rock and Pidaurangala exceeded our expectations. Our room was clean, tidy and well appointed. The pool was a welcomed relief after a long day of traveling and the restaurant is exceptional. We ordered the Ambula rice and curry which was an experience to behold. The presentation was next level and the taste was amazing! The breakfast we had the next morning was one of the best we’ve had at hotels around the world.

A Truly Outstanding Stay – 5 Stars - more if we could! From the moment we arrived, this hotel exceeded all expectations. Set in a serene and exclusive location by a lake, it offers stunning views of the nearby UNESCO World Heritage Site Lion Rock and Pidurangala. They are in fact both walking distance from the hotel. The spacious rooms are immaculately maintained, complete with thoughtful touches like tea, coffee, and biscuits. The outside patio area which looks out onto Lion Rock and Pidurangala was lovely to sit out in the evening after a dip in the pool. The grounds are rich with wildlife and a wild elephant even showed up one evening. The food can only be described as outstanding. The hotel grows fresh produce itself and even has its own paddy field. Breakfast every morning was enough to set you up for the day and was beautifully presented with a wide selection. After ordering the Lagoon Crab curry on our first night we decided to eat at the hotel every evening. The quality of the food cannot be underestimated and we felt it was excellent value for what we received. A highlight was the chef personally appearing in the dining room to present a special Sri Lankan curry - Ambula. It was a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach – a lovely personal touch! What truly sets this hotel apart, though, is the staff. Warm, genuinely friendly, and endlessly attentive, they go out of their way to ensure every detail is perfect. Nothing is too much trouble. The owner of the hotel is highly visible and always on hand to chat and make sure you are enjoying your stay. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Truly immersed in nature with all the creature comforts of home. Rooms are large and comfortable, the kitchen provides culinary enlightenment and the staff exceed any Michelin experience I’ve had in terms of their ability to present dishes, engage with their guests and provide a level of warmth that I’ve not encountered elsewhere, even in Sri Lanka where outstanding hospitality is the norm This is truly special place- huge thanks to Samantha and Sumith who are treasures we were lucky to spend our meals with and to Sandun who handled check in.out and every want/need in between

A Hidden Gem Near Sigiriya Rock! I had an unforgettable stay at Sigiriya Kings Resort! The location is perfect — just a short drive from the iconic Sigiriya Rock, yet tucked away in a peaceful, green setting that feels like a true escape into nature. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed with a blend of comfort and local charm. I especially loved waking up to the sounds of birds and enjoying coffee on the private balcony with views of the lush surroundings. What really made the experience stand out was the hospitality. The staff went above and beyond — warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. They helped us arrange a safari and even gave tips for local hidden spots to explore. The pool was a huge bonus after a day of climbing and exploring — clean, quiet, and surrounded by greenery. And the food? Absolutely delicious! Fresh, flavorful Sri Lankan dishes served with care. Highly recommend this place if you’re visiting Sigiriya. It’s not just a stay, it’s an experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Everything about this hotel was amazing, the location with its stunning views of the Lions Rock and the nearby rock (sorry can’t recall its name) both within walking distance. The staff, nothing was too much and they made you feel so welcome. The food was amazing, especially the Sri Lanka breakfast. Our room was beautifully clean, spacious and quiet. We only stayed for 2 nights, but wish we had stayed for more at this amazing hotel, would highly recommend a stay if visiting Sigiriya and you want a real treat.

Absolutely spectacular view of both Pidarangala and Sigiriya from the room and the pool. Food in the restaurant was expensive but some of the best we have had in Sri Lanka. Most of the food is grown at the hotel including the rice. They have pet guinea fowl roaming the ground which are very entertaining to watch. There is a lake adjacent to the hotel which is very pleasant to view and watch some wildlife. The room was fantastic and we were given very delicious biscuits with the standard coffees and teas in the room. They provided a delicious welcome drink on arrival. Several plugs and chargers were left in the room in case you forget any. Insect repellant was also provided in the room. Staff were very friendly and helpful without being overbearing. We arranged a reasonably priced tuktuk through them to take us to Pidarangala for sunrise, which we absolutely recommend doing for spectacular views and avoiding the heat of the day. We only wished we had stayed there for a second night as we would have liked to have explored Sigiriya in the early morning and spent more time there to take everything in when it wasn’t so hot. The best hotel we stayed at during our time in Sri Lanka.

Location was amazing, staff were very helpful and accommodating. Food was excellent. Recommend the ordering Sri Lankan breakfast and the lagoon crab curry. The team organised us tuk tuks and one of their team drove to our next destination and took us to the Dambulla cave temple. They collected us from Colombo International Airport also. Everyone was extremely friendly. The ground and the pool were kept meticulously. Only 9 rooms, so very quiet and tranquil. Lots of wildlife around the lake and grounds, including cormorants and pet guinea fowl. Would definitely recommend staying here for a relaxing couple of nights in the jungle next door to Sigiriya rock and Pidurangala rock.
